Es mucho más tranquila que su vecina la playa de Copacabana, con una mayor extensión de arena, el mirante do leme y el morro de leme de fondo este lugar te invita a disfrutar la vista y relajarte.
⚪ Recomendación: No vayas directamente a playa, antes mejor visita el Forte Duque de Caxias, la entrada es gratis y las vistas son espectaculares. Si deseas saber los horarios mira este video ????

Es de las más famosas de Río y no puedes decir que viajaste a la ciudad Maravillosa sin conocerla, en temporada baja se disfruta mucho durante el día pero en lo personal, fue en la noche que la Praia de Copacabana se convirtió en uno de mis lugares favoritos.

Rio de Janeiro is one of the most visited cities in the southern hemisphere, known for its natural beauty, fiestas, samba, bossa nova and Balnerio beaches such as Barra da Tijuca, Copacabana, Ipanema and Lebu Lum) is known. Behind the beach are the 38-meter Christ the Redeemer statue on Mount Corcovado, and Sugar Loaf, a granite peak accessible by cable car. The city is also known for its sprawling slums. Featuring parades, fancy costumes and samba dancers, the lively carnival is considered the largest in the world.
Leblon Beach: is a district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is also the name of the local beach. The district is located in the south of the city, between the Rodrigo de Freitas Lakes, the Morrodo Ilmans Lakes and the Hardín de Ara Canal, with Gavia, Ipanema, Lagoa and Vidiga Germany borders. It is considered the very affluent region with the highest prices per square meter of living space in Latin America
Copacabana Beach: On the Atlantic coast, stretches from Posto Dois (Lifeguard Tower Two) to Posto Seis (Lifeguard Tower Six). Leme is located in Posto Um (Lifeguard 1 watchtower). There are historic forts at both ends of Copacabana Beach. Fort Copacabana, built in 1914, is at the southern end of Posto Seis, and Fort Duque de Caxias, built in 1779, is at the northern end. The boardwalk across Atlantic Avenue is lined with hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and residential buildings. On Sundays and public holidays, one side of Avenida Atlântica is closed to traffic to provide more beach space for residents and tourists.
Ipanema Beach: Ipanema Beach is known for its elegant venues and social life. The western end of the beach is divided into sections by lifeguard towers, and there are two mountains called Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers). Beer is ubiquitous, as is traditional cachaça. There is always a group of people playing football, volleyball and soccer volleyball, a locally invented combination of volleyball and football.
Leme Beach: Leme Beach is about a 10-minute drive or 30-minute walk from downtown Copacabana. To get to the beach, take the metro to Cardeal Arcoverde, then change to bus 590. Alternatively, you can save time and grab a taxi before walking to the beach. The currents here are sometimes strong. Therefore, heed warning signs that provide information about current conditions.

A complete walk around Fort Duque de Caxias / Leme Fort | Trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 2020 | 4K
Fort Duque de Caxias, more commonly known as Leme Fort (Forte do Leme), can be found at the eastern end of the Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. This military base is open to the public. Visitors can walk to the top of Leme Mountain (Morro do Leme) along a steep 800m trail that passes through Atlantic rainforest. At the top stands an 18th-century fort affording magnificent views of the Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar) and the Cagarras Islands.
Going up to Fort Duque de Caxias is one of the cheapest tourist attractions around which makes it an ideal destination for those working on a tight budget.The trail up to the fort is not a difficult climb and the view from the top is well worth the effort.
The fort is located at the top of the Morro do Leme hill. The trail starts at the bottom of Morro de Leme inside a military area, this makes it a very safe place to take a walk or run. The 800 metre hike to the top and to Forte Duque de Caxias should take twenty minutes if you are fit and in shape. The trail is a well-kept cobblestone path which makes it easier for those less used to hiking to get to the breathtaking view with Sugarloaf Mountain seemingly close enough to almost touch. Along the way you will be able to see fifteen Stations of the Cross which have been placed along the pathway to commemorate the path Jesus Walked to Calvary.
Forte Duque de Caxias was originally built in 1779 as Fort of the Guard. It was part of the defence strategy of the original city of Rio as a watch outpost. It features a magnificent stone gate which still exists today. The fort was only equipped with arms in 1823 and saw action in July 1922, when two cannon shots broke through and destroyed part of the dining halls, and in 1924, when it was involved in a shootout with the rebellious Battleship São Paulo.
Forte Duque de Caxias was given its name in August 1935 by President Getulio Vargas and was deactivated in 1965. The Personnel Studies Center of the Brazilian Army now uses the fort as a teaching establishment most specifically in the area of human behaviour.
When you are asking directions, make sure to be specific as there is Forte de Copacabana at the other end of Copacabana Beach and locals may easily misunderstand and send you in the wrong direction. Also be sure to take plenty of water as it can get very hot in Rio and dehydration is a real danger. Forte Duque de Caxias is one of the more safe tourist attractions thanks to its being situated within a military base, you should still keep an eye on your things though.

O passeio no Forte Duque de Caxias (Forte do Leme) compreende uma caminhada ecológica na área de proteção ambiental da Mata Atlântica e uma visita ao sítio histórico do local.
O Forte Duque de Caxias, conhecido como Forte do Leme, foi originalmente construído entre 1776 e 1799 por ordem do Marquês do Lavradio, quando o Brasil ainda era parte do Império Português. Ele antes era chamado de Forte do Vigia ou da Espia porque não possuía artilharia e servia para alertar as outras fortificações sobre a chegada de navios ao Rio de Janeiro.
Além disso, a história militar deste forte está repleta de acontecimentos. Seus integrantes participaram de revoltas como a do Forte de Copacabana (1922), na Revolta do Encouraçado São Paulo (1924), na ação contra o navio mercante Baden (1930), na Revolução de 1932, na Intentona Comunista (1935), no Movimento Integralista (1938), na 2ª Guerra Mundial (1945) e na Intervenção do Cruzador Tamandaré (1955).
A área de proteção ambiental do Leme, aberta à visitação pública, pertence ao forte, de onde pode-se observar diversos atrativos da cidade, como o Cristo Redentor, o Pão de Açúcar e a praia de Copacabana.
É possível agendar visitações mediadas em grupo e às terças-feiras a entrada é gratuita. É proibida a entrada sem camisa, com roupa de banho ou roupa que atente contra o pudor.

O acesso ao Forte e a caminhada ecológica
O passeio ao Forte Duque de Caxias inicia-se pela caminhada ecológica. É uma subida de 800 metros numa estrada de paralelipípedo arborizada pela Mata Atlântica, em meio a Área de Proteção Ambiental do Leme.
O sítio histórico
O sítio histórico possui 4 obuseiros modelo Krupp, de origem alemã, e outras peças históricas originais da época na qual o forte estava ativado; um memorial a Caxias; galerias com exposições fixas sobre a história do Forte; galerias com exposições sobre a Área de Proteção Ambiental e sobre o meio ambiente; galerias com exposições temporárias; e sala de vídeo com exibição de filmetes sobre o Forte.

Seção de Comunicação Social é responsável pelo sítio histórico e pelo vetor Preservar, da missão da Organização Militar. A preservação engloba o Acervo Histórico e Cultural do Forte Duque de Caxias (Forte do Leme) e o Parque Municipal Natural Paisagem Carioca (PMNPC).

The wonders of Rio seen from one place.
Located in a privileged location in Rio de Janeiro, Fort Duque de Caxias (FDC) is located at the top of Morro do Leme, surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, in the middle of the environmental protection area of Leme. Only one trail separates the historic site from the beach, shops and apartments in the Leme district. The panoramic view includes the entire Copacabana shore, Morro do Pão de Açúcar, Christ the Redeemer, Niterói and other fortifications. The place unites culture, history and environmental protection in a single setting.
Access to the Fort and the ecological walk
The tour to Fort Duque de Caxias begins with the ecological walk. It is an 800 meter climb on a cobbled road through the Atlantic Forest, in the middle of the Environmental Protection Area of Leme.
The historic site
The historic site has 4 Krupp howitzers, of German origin, and other original historical pieces from the time when the fort was activated; a memorial to Caxias; galleries with fixed exhibitions on the history of the Fort; galleries with exhibitions on the Environmental Protection Area and on the environment; galleries with temporary exhibitions; and video room with screening of films about the Fort.
Administration
Social Communication section is responsible for the historic site and the vector Preservar, of the mission of the Military Organization. The preservation includes the Historical and Cultural Collection of Fort Duque de Caxias (Fort of Leme) and the Municipal Natural Park Landscape Carioca (PMNPC).

O Forte Duque de Caxias, também conhecido como Forte do Leme, está localizado na Zona Sul do Rio, no Leme. Ele é um mirante que antes servia para alertar as outras fortificações sobre a chegada de navios no Rio de Janeiro entre 1776 e 1799.
Para chegar até o pico é necessário realizar uma pequena caminhada, com subida leve, pouco íngrime que leva em torno 15/20 minutos. O caminho é arborizado, de paralelepipido e muito charmoso. Você irá encontrar animais silvestres durante o percurso, NÃO ALIMENTE, É PROIBIDO.

Copacabana Beach: On the Atlantic coast, stretches from Posto Dois (Lifeguard Tower Two) to Posto Seis (Lifeguard Tower Six). Leme is located in Posto Um (Lifeguard 1 watchtower). There are historic forts at both ends of Copacabana Beach. Fort Copacabana, built in 1914, is at the southern end of Posto Seis, and Fort Duque de Caxias, built in 1779, is at the northern end. The boardwalk across Atlantic Avenue is lined with hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and residential buildings. On Sundays and public holidays, one side of Avenida Atlântica is closed to traffic to provide more beach space for residents and tourists.
Ipanema Beach: Ipanema Beach is known for its elegant venues and social life. The western end of the beach is divided into sections by lifeguard towers, and there are two mountains called Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers). Beer is ubiquitous, as is traditional cachaça. There is always a group of people playing football, volleyball and soccer volleyball, a locally invented combination of volleyball and football.
Leme Beach: Leme Beach is about a 10-minute drive or 30-minute walk from downtown Copacabana. To get to the beach, take the metro to Cardeal Arcoverde, then change to bus 590. Alternatively, you can save time and grab a taxi before walking to the beach. The currents here are sometimes strong. Therefore, heed warning signs that provide information about current conditions.
