History - Dulwich Hill Line (AKA Inner West Light Rail)

Original video:
Greg Best:
tressteleg1:

The Inner West Light Rail opened in 1997 between Central and Wentworth Park, utilizing the alignment of the former Metropolitan Goods Line. It was extended to Lilyfield in 2000 and to Dulwich Hill in 2014, both times using the former goods line's right-of-way. The Dulwich Hill Line services Sydney's Inner West and has been greatly successful for this community in that it provides an important link between the suburbs that lie along its tracks as well as to the Sydney's CBD. Over 10 million journeys are made on the line per year (compared to, say, 529,000 on Sydney Trains' T6 Carlingford Line). The Dulwich Hill Line was the first and is currently the only operational line on the Sydney Light Rail network.

Metropolitan Freight Line Action - Railfanning in the Golden Hour | Dulwich Hill, NSW | 28/10/2022

Chapters:
(Temporarily Not Available)

On Friday 28th October I headed down to Dulwich Hill once again to see Freight trains during the busy evening. Unfortunately I missed 2 trains in the process of heading to Hurlstone Park and back. It brings it to a total of 8 trains while I was there. Only 6 of the trains have been recorded.

Enjoy!

Marrickville to Dulwich Hill

Marrickville is a suburb in the Inner West[2] of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Marrickville is located 7 kilometres (4 miles) south-west of the Sydney central business district and is the largest suburb in the Inner West Council local government area.

Marrickville sits on the northern bank of the Cooks River, opposite Earlwood and shares borders with Stanmore, Enmore, Newtown, St Peters, Sydenham, Tempe, Dulwich Hill, Hurlstone Park and Petersham. The southern part of the suburb, near the river, is known as Marrickville South and includes the historical locality called The Warren.

Marrickville is a diverse suburb consisting of both low and high density residential, commercial and light industrial areas.
he suburb takes its name from the area of Dulwich in London. The name Dulwich Hill appears in Sands Directory of 1892. It had been known by several different names prior to this. Following European settlement, it was called Petersham Hill. It later took the name Wardell's Bush, a reference to Dr Robert Wardell, one of the area's early landowners. Other names the area was given were South Petersham and Fern Hill.[3]

Gladstone Hotel, Dulwich Hill
The area became part of Sydney's expanding tram network in 1889 and, like many suburbs in the inner-west, experienced rapid growth in the early twentieth century. As a consequence, the suburb has a large number of examples of Australian Federation architecture. It also features examples of Edwardian, Gothic and Italianate architecture. The tramway ran up until 1957.

Listed on the Register of the National Estate is the former public school in Seaview Street, which now operates as the Dulwich Hill High School of Visual Arts and Design. The building was designed by W.E.Kemp in the Romanesque style and built circa 1892.[4] Situated in the same street is the Dulwich Hill Library, a converted cottage in the Victorian Gothic style.

Australian Wonders | Tasmania

For more information visit:

Read below for a full transcript:

Tucked away at the far south of the country and across the untamed waters of Bass Strait lies Tasmania.

A place rich with heritage and spectacular natural history.

The combination of Tasmania's colder climate and heavier rain falls creates an island haven where you can journey deep into the pristine wilderness and see wildlife found nowhere else.

Nice walk along 2 bays, with 3 great parks to picnic and explore - The Glebe Foreshore Walk - Glebe

Our walk from the Tramsheds to Blackwattle Bay is around 2km, which takes in a part of The Glebe Foreshore Walk that extends right up to the fish markets.
Still under construction, ugly construction fences block areas of the parks, we deliberately chose footage without the fences to create the vlog. It still is a great relaxing walk overlooking Rozelle Bay and Blackwattle Bay.
We parked at a no-time limit street next to the Tramsheds. There are plenty of spots if you come early enough (vlog on the Tramshed is on its way)
The walk takes you through Federal Park, Jubilee Park and Bicentennial Park, so there are playgrounds for the kids to explore and BYO lunch for a picnic.
Just keep an eye on your kids as there are heaps of dogs running about going on there routine walk and some sections are off-leash areas.
Check out the old winch and crane, a reminder of the past industries that use to line the foreshore. Fantastic views of Sydney CBD, Anzac bridge and the
old Glebe island bridge over Blackwattle Bay. Look out for the insect Hotel along the way. Our walk takes about 2 hours and 4km, more time if you intend going as far as the fish markets. Enjoy your Day.

Come explore Dulwich Park with us and find out what makes it so popular. Featuring close encounters with robins, geese, ducks, squirrels, and alligators. One of those may not be true.

Massive thank you to Friends of Dulwich Park, Emily Montague, Natalie Meredith, Sammy the Squirrel, and the hundreds of unpaid extras who played everyone else in the video.
