BALTIMORE INNER HARBOR // Things to do in Baltimore, Md

BALTIMORE INNER HARBOR // Things to do in Baltimore, Md
We love visiting Baltimore, Maryland. Today we're going on a quick tour of some of our favorite places around the Baltimore Inner Harbor.
DON'T CLICK THIS:

As we said in the video, not all of these places are technically on the waterfront, but they are close enough to walk and too big a part of the city to overlook. Check out more in the description to find out about the places we visited

???? Subscribe for more Videos????:

Shout out is needed forJoey Aikins for letting us use a couple of his songs.
Check out Joey's music on Spotify:

Where we visited (in no order):

Patterson Park
Had a few things backward. Druid Hill Park is the largest park in the city, however, it is nicknamed Best Backyard in Baltimore. Patterson Park was established in 1827 and named for William Patterson (1752–1835). The park consists of open fields of grass, large trees, paved walkways, historic battle sites, a lake, playgrounds, athletic fields, a swimming pool, an ice skating rink and other signature attractions and buildings

Fell's Point
Fell's Point is known for its hip pubs and taverns, many with live music, as well as seafood joints serving Chesapeake Bay crab and oysters. Small galleries, record stores, fashion boutiques and eclectic restaurants line the cobblestone streets along the harbor and main square. The Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park Museum explores African-American nautical history in a former industrial building.

Miss Shirley's
Miss Shirley's had two locations in Baltimore and at least one more in Annapolis. Established and created in 2005 by longtime restaurateur and Baltimore native, Eddie, as he was affectionately known, Miss Shirley’s Cafe was named in loving memory of a personal friend & inspirational team member, Miss Shirley, who passed away in 2001. Shirley, a food professional at The Beef Inn & The Catering People, was known for her sassy charm and sheer joy of preparing dishes for catered celebrations in the community.

Ministry of Brewing
Ministry of Brewing is based in the former St. Michael’s Church and is hoping to revitalizing a historic community gathering place in a different way.

National Aquarium
also known as National Aquarium in Baltimore and formerly known as Baltimore Aquarium. The National Aquarium is a non-profit public aquarium located on Pier 3 in the Inner Harbor area of downtown Baltimore, Maryland.

Pickles
Established March 17, 1988, Pickles Pub is a longtime Baltimore tradition. The #1 place for sports fans to watch their favorite teams for over 30 years.

Camden Yards
Ready for my random facts about this ballpark?
Oriole Park at Camden Yards is the home of the Orioles since April 6, 1992.
Babe Ruth never played for Baltimore, but he is from there. His father owned a building that was a saloon on the bottom level and the family's home on the second floor of the building known to be located somewhere out in what is now center field at Oriole Park. Pretty cool, huh?

Maybe that's why they've been losing for so long; the Babe doesn't want the O's beating his Yankees...

Fun Fact number 2. To this day, Ken Griffey Jr. is still the only player to ever homer off the Camden Yards warehouse!

M&T Bank Stadium
M&T Bank Stadium is immediately adjacent to Oriole Park at Camden Yards and home of the Baltimore Ravens.

Captain James Seafood Palace
Seafood comes a plenty in Baltimore, Md. I like Captain James because it's shaped like a merchant vessel. Crabcakes and Football. That's what Maryland does!

Places to see in ( Baltimore - USA )

Places to see in ( Baltimore - USA )

Baltimore is a major city in Maryland with a long history as an important seaport. Fort McHenry, birthplace of the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” sits at the mouth of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Today, this harbor area offers shops, upscale crab shacks and attractions like the Civil War–era warship the USS Constellation and the National Aquarium, showcasing thousands of marine creatures.

Baltimore is a popular tourist destination in Maryland, in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States of America, near Washington, D.C. It is perhaps most famously known historically as the city where Francis Scott Key wrote the lyrics for the Star Spangled Banner during the Battle of Baltimore of the War of 1812. Today it has become a major center for tourism and travel. Local highlights include excellent seafood (steamed blue crabs, raw oysters, Maryland crab cakes, and Maryland crab soup) and Camden Yards (the first retro major league ball park and where the Baltimore Orioles play). Baltimore possesses a vibrant arts scene with the largest free arts festival in the US (Artscape) occurring annually in July, a renowned arts museum American Visionary Arts Museum that is dedicated to outsider art, and the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins. It is also home to Johns Hopkins University, Morgan State University, University of Baltimore, Loyola University, Goucher College, and the Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Baltimore has an absolutely staggering number of officially designated neighborhoods, Inner Harbor, If you are a tourist, you come here. Fells Point could not be more complementary to the Inner Harbor—historic. An incongruous mix of Baltimore's central business district, the University of Maryland-Baltimore, the awe inspiring Lexington Market, the infamously seedy Block, and the Bromo Arts District.

One of the nicest sections of the city, home to the performing arts district, Penn Station, and a host of other attractions (Walters Art Museum, the original Washington Monument, dining and wining on Charles St, the University of Baltimore, Station North Arts District etc.) that most visitors foolishly pass over. South Baltimore
Industrial blue-collar South Baltimore is dying, and is quickly being replaced with upscale gentrified neighborhoods like Federal Hill.

Most visitors to the area know only Johns Hopkins University and the always interesting commercial strip along Charles St nearby. But it is unfortunate that they overlook the quirkiest of quirky neighborhoods, Hampden. Infamous West Baltimore. If you have watched the Wire, this was where the crime was taking place! But don't be fooled. There are some major tourist draws here, like the Maryland Zoo in Druid Hill Park, Pimlico Racecourse, and Edgar Allen Poe's House.Baltimore's great rivalry between east and west is certainly an example of the narcissism of small differences. Attractions in the east are very few and far between, but things are changing fast as booming Johns Hopkins Medical Campus expands and demolishes in its wake.

A lot to see in Baltimore such as :

Inner Harbor
National Aquarium
Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine
Fells Point
Oriole Park at Camden Yards
The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore
Patapsco Valley State Park
Port Discovery Children's Museum

The City of Baltimore is Maryland's largest county, and the largest independent city in the U.S. Baltimore has the world-renowned Inner Harbor, a destination to be seen day or night, and plenty of places to get your live entertainment loaded.

Here are 10 Things To Do in Baltimore.

#10 Meet The Animals At The National Aquarium.

The National Aquarium is home to nearly 200,000 species including amphibians, birds, reptiles and, of course, fish. You can go on an immersion tour for those who just want to see the aquarium from the other side, to see stuff from inside the tank itself. There are dolphin experiences where, in a teaching and play session, you can get up close and personal with the dolphins.

#9 Take a walk around The Historic Ships In Baltimore.

As far as military vessel collections go, this may just be the largest in the world. You have the U.S. Sloop-of-War-Constellation, the U.S. Submarine Torsk, and the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Taney (Pearl Harbor's last surviving ship). Within these vessels the stories told will keep a lot of history buffs amused and many an enlightened child.

#8 See The Trains At The B&O Railroad Museum.

B&O Railroad Museum houses the most important collection of railroad objects in America. There's so much to do at the museum but the Mile One Express Train Trip is maybe the most enjoyable and interesting. You can take a twenty-minute ride at certain times along the first commercial mile of railroad ever built in America.

#7 Take a trip to America’s First Cathedral.

America's first church is formally named the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary's National Shrine of Assumption, most commonly known as the Baltimore Basilique. Benjamin Henry Latrobe who is considered the Father of American Architecture designed the cathedral. The building underwent major reconstruction, completed in 2006, costing $34 million to the Catholic Church. We highly recommend a walk to this magnificent edifice.

#6 Explore the History of Pop Culture at Geppi’s.

Geppi's Entertainment Museum is a private museum in Baltimore displaying cases of pop culture history in the U.S.A. The series starts in the 17th century and continues right up to the present day. The museum houses about 6,000 items including movie posters, newspapers, badges, toys, cereal boxes, and trade cards.

#5 Admire The Washington Monument.

Really, the Washington Monument is a spot to behold. A massive column was constructed in Washington by the same architect who designed the Washington Monument. The monument stands at a height of 178 feet and can be climbed up the 227 steps up to the roof. When upstairs you can enjoy amazing views of the city below.

#4 Meet the animals at Maryland Zoo.

The Maryland Zoo is housed within Druid Hill Park, the third oldest zoo in all of America. The zoo opened in 1876, and is now a major attraction in the area. The zoo is divided into many areas the largest of which is the African Journey. Large numbers of animals originating in Africa can be seen in this section. African Elephants, Lions, Cheetahs, African Leopards and many more

#3 Learn about Edgar Allan Poe.

Edgar Allan Poe was a 19th-century American writer and literary critic living in Baltimore. The home is fantastically restored, and tourists are welcome to come and see the house where he lived with his parents, aunt, and two cousins at certain times of the year. The house is unfurnished, but the building's core structure remains unchanged.

#2 Enjoy unique art at The Walters Art Museum.

If you like art but are not enthusiastic about a certain period of time or style of work, the Walters Art Museum will give you a great mix of objects. There are Egyptian predynastic era, Greek Sculptures, and Roman Sarcophagi. Art Nouveau Jewelry and European and American masterpieces can be found here. There are about 30,000 pieces of work on display in total, and museum access is fully free.

#1 Watch a film at the Charles Theatre.

The Charles Theatre in Baltimore's oldest theater. The theater was initially built as a streetcar barn before being moved to Charles Street where it remains now. The five-screen theater, as well as some of today's big launches, displays a wide variety of independent films. Each year the theatre holds the annual Maryland Film Festival which attracts movie lovers from across the state.
