Join us on a journey exploring the stunning desert landscape of Tunisia. In this video, we sleep in a tent in the middle of the desert in the south of Tunisia, where we also found hot springs. We visit Douz, the gateway to the Sahara, the largest hot desert in the world.
We continue our journey in the desert by visiting the salt lake of Chott el Djerid. Then we head to the unique luxury resort of Anatara, where we spend a night in the desert.

Tunis is the capital and largest city of Tunisia, a country in North Africa.
It is located on the Mediterranean Sea's Gulf of Tunis, behind the Lake of Tunis and the port of La Goulette.
Founded by the Libyans in the 2nd millennium BCE, and over time occupied by Berbers and Numidians.
The city of Tunis has been controlled by the Phoenicians, Romans, Arab Muslims, Ottomans, the Spanish, the French, and the Germans, and finally achieved independence as the capital of Tunisia in 1956.
This history has made Tunis a city of wonder with the largest cultural contrasts.
Tunis is divided into the World Heritage Listed old city and the new city, or ville nouvelle in French.
The city has many ancient buildings and a captivating mix of North African and French architecture.
From the winding alleys of the medina, filled with tantalizing aromas and colourful bazaars, to the sleek and contemporary architecture of the modern city.

DOUZ, TUNISIA
Douz is a town in the Kebili Governorate in the south of Tunisia, known as the gateway to the Sahara. By road it is located 31 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of Blidet, 125 kilometres (78 mi) southeast of Tozeur, and 475 kilometres (295 mi) south of the Tunisian capital of Tunis.
It has been called the ultimate palm oasis, because it has over 500,000 palm trees in the area, and it is a major producer of diglat noor dates. In previous times it was an important stop on the trans-Saharan caravan routes. Today, it is destination for tourists who are interested in seeing the desert, and a starting point for desert treks by camel, motorcycle, or four-wheel-drive vehicle.

TOZEUR TUNISIA - TOUR OF THE DESERT OASIS توزر (travel vlog 2019)
Welcome to TOZEUR Tunisia. This is an enchanting palm oasis located in southwest Tunisia, on the edge of the Sahara. While the surrounding area appears desolate, the oasis springs up like a mirage and buzzing with activity. TOZEUR is known for its old Medina and unique brick architecture, that make you feel like you have stepped back in time. Today we are going to uncover the mysteries within this unique desert community.
Tucked away in the peaceful oasis is Diar Abou Habibi, a chilled out accommodation with uniquely decorated cabins. It’s an excellent base for tourists wanted to visit the nearby Star Wars sets, salt flats, and Atlas Mountains.
Next, we visit the date farm. Date production plays an important role in the economy of the oasis, as it provides many jobs to farmers and exporters. Tunisian dates are exported to more than 80 countries.The cultivation of the dates requires lots of manual labor.
On the outskirts of the oasis, we visit a brickwork factory. TOZEUR is famous for its yellowish/brown bricks, which are made by hand using clay. They are a passed down tradition and keep the houses cool during the hot 325 days of sun.
Lastly, we enjoy a Tunisian feast including Tunisian wine before checking out the nightlife at a local hookah lounge.

Speed-freaks and adventure nuts are spoilt for choice in Tunisia where dozens of white-knuckle, high velocity sports and pursuits promise to get the adrenaline pumping.
Tunisia desert: a once-in-a-lifetime experience
For a real desert adventure, set off across the sands of the Great Eastern Erg on a camel. The most popular journey is a five-day trek from Douz to Ksar Ghilane, but shorter trips are available and it’s possible to enjoy an hour-long camel ride that, for some people, is quite enough.
