Dourdan1 (Pronounced [d̪uʁd̪ɑ̃] Écouter) is a commune in the Essonne department in Île-de-France in north-central France. It is the capital of the canton of Dourdan, the seat of the community of communes Le Dourdannais in Hurepoix.
Celtic village then Gallo-Roman city, cradle of the Capetians and royal city since the tenth century, capital of Hurepoix, Dourdan is still famous today for its castle of the thirteenth century exceptionally preserved and its vast forest. Located at the gates of the Paris agglomeration halfway between the capital and Chartres, its monuments, museum and natural spaces make it an important tourist site in the department.
Its inhabitants are called Dourdannais2.

The Château de Dourdan is a former castle located in the commune of Dourdan in the natural region of Hurepoix and the department of Essonne, in the Île-de-France region.
The castral complex is the subject of a classification as a historical monument by decree of 9 December 19641.
Location
The castle is located in the hollow of the valley of the Orge less than two hundred meters north of the river bed and about a hundred meters above sea level on clay ground.
Located in a strategic location halfway along the road from Paris to Chartres2., the castle complex is at the heart of what was the immense forest of the Carnutes in antiquity. Although largely cleared for agriculture, this forest remains very dense around Dourdan in the Middle Ages until today and makes it a popular hunting ground for its various occupants.
Today, it faces the Place Charles de Gaulle occupied by the hall and bordered by the church of Saint-Germain d'Auxerre.

G'day Winstone Media subscribers, welcome back to another video! Today I cycled from Dourdan to Arteney. In total I covered 50 km's which I'm proud of considering what a shitty day I had. Rain, clay, wrong directions, bad roads, chafing and my camera going flat was all apart of a random day where nothing seemed to go right.
