In this vlog we're exploring some of Italy's most incredible history, architecture, art, and FOOD! You can use the video or the short guide to Florence below for some ideas on the best things to do, see, and eat in the city!

1. Mercato Centrale - Florence's central market, which we walk through but skip in today's video because we did an entire video dedicated just to it!
2. Piazza del Duomo - a gathering place featuring Florence's iconic Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (aka the Duomo Firenze)
3. Piazza della Repubblica - another piazza with some high end shops and near a lovely & historic neighborhood!
4. Piazza della Signoria - probably the most renowned piazza in Florence!
5. Palazzo Vecchio - the town hall of Florence, with a long history!
6. All’Antico Vinaio - a wildly popular sandwich shop
7. Uffizi - An art museum featuring works from the Renaissance (we unfortunately didn't make it to this one! Let us know how it is!)
8. Accademia Gallery - An art museum home to the famous statue of David and other renaissance works!
8. Ponte Vecchio - a medieval era bridge with shops, which are still present to this day! (shops are obviously a bit more modern now though!)
9. Gelateria dei Neri - seriously GO HERE! It's SO GOOD!
10. Piazzale Michelangelo - a gathering place with some of the best views of the city!
11.Piazza Santo Spirito - a gathering place with a great local market on the Sunday we visited!
12. Palazzo Pitti - another large gathering place, where the entrance to the Boboli Gardens is located (we did not visit the garden in the video!)
13. San Miniato al Monte - a stunning basilica set on a hillside! (with even better views that Piazzale Michelangelo too! In our opinion anyways!)

One day in Domodossola, Italy! (tour and vlog of this charming town!)
We crossed the Italian border into a small town named Domodossola! It's an extremely small city that is definitely not touristic - there are no guides and few recommendations on what to do, but we made a day of it and found it to be a wonderful and charming town in the Piedmont region!
We only had a few hours in town, so we're going to show you everything we found in this little known city! Charming neighborhood streets, beautiful and historic churches, calm piazzas, and an amazing restaurant we just bumbled into!
We had also filmed a short Airbnb tour and a Italian Grocery run, but our audio broke AGAIN. Sorry guys. :( I think we fixed it now, but I'm sure something else will arise eventually. lol. Next time!

Domodossola Italy ???????? 4K Evening Walking Tour 2024
This is a walking tour in Domodossola, Italy taken in the evening hours. I had just a little over an hour in this small city and it was only a stop over for my trip to Zermatt, Switzerland. I was so glad I had even just a small amount of time here. I was really surprised with the charm and atmosphere of the city. With it's medieval architecture, narrow cobbled streets and a charming central square, Domodossola is the type of place I enjoy visiting and exploring. It is definitely worth visiting, especially if you are making your way around the Swiss Alps.

Domodossola and its street market walking tour
Hello and let me take you to this virtual tour of Domodossola and its street market.
Domodossola has always been a focal point for the seven surrounding valleys (Anzasca, Antrona, Bognanco, Antigorio, Divedro, Formazza, Vigezzo). It has the character of a frontier town, and is an important railway junction between Italy and Switzerland.
An ancient Roman province, it acquired its name (from the Latin “Domus Oxulae”, where “Domus” means an administrative capital with the main church of the area) following the establishment of Christianity in the Ossola region.
Its long history as the centre of a land of transit received a boost in 1805 with the construction by Napoleon of the road across the Simplon Pass, and a century later with the opening of the railway tunnel. This important link between Italy and Switzerland is celebrated in the Civic Museum of the Simplon, which illustrates the construction of the tunnel through photographs and relics of the time, such as the old stagecoach which once took the mail across the Pass. There is also a reproduction on a scale of 1:2 of a section of the tunnel, showing how the construction work was done.
The medieval town centre has preserved intact its very fine Piazza Mercato, an irregularly-shaped square surrounded by elegant bourgeois buildings graced with loggias and balconies. One of the most culturally active theatres in the province, the Teatro Galletti, opens onto the square. Of great historical interest is Via Briona, where the 14th century Briona Tower stands.
Another 14th century building is the Renaissance palazzo Palazzo Silva, now a museum displaying Etruscan and Roman finds, and fragments of Egyptian mummies. The exterior of the building is embellished with door and window frames made entirely from local Crevoladossola marble.
The main church is the Collegiate Church, which contains paintings by local artists, notably Lorenzo Peretti and Mattia Borgnis. But the major attraction of Domodossola is the Sacro Monte del Calvario (Calvary), built in 1657 by Capuchin monks, and designated UNESCO World Heritage site in 2003. The complex, built in Baroque style, comprises twelve chapels illustrating the Passion of Christ, and lies within the Special Nature Reserve of the Sacro Monte of Domodossola along with the medieval Mattarella Castle, of which only the walls remain visible. The castle was destroyed in 1415 by Swiss soldiers to conquer the Ossola and seize it from the Duchy of Milan.
The Motta district also takes us back into the past; there are still buildings here with larch wood balconies from the late Middle Ages, looking onto Piazza Fontana with its beautiful fountain on an octagonal base.
The nearest ski and snowboarding runs in the Domodossola area are to the south-west, at Domobianca on the slopes of Monte Moncucco.
Every Saturday morning, the city street market takes place.

The Vigezzina-Centovalli-Bahn is a cross bordering experience in all possible ways. This direct railway connection between Domodossola in Italy & Locarno in Switzerland is the most direct link between the 2 main railway lines that do cross the Alps in Switzerland (the Gotthard route & the Simplon route)
There is a lot to see and admire on the approximately 50 kilometer long route through the Centovalli and the Valle Vigezzo. Along the wild Melezza stream you get a glimpse of numerous isolated side valleys. These densely forested valleys, peppered with rugged rocks, have formed over millions of years along the fault line between the European & African continental plates.

Domodossola is strategically positioned in the Ossola Valley, which is a picturesque valley in the northern part of Italy, forming part of the larger Val Grande National Park.
