Destrehan Plantation Tour | Life of a House Slave and Field Slave

Destrehan Plantation Tour with Dianne Honore, who is a descendant of Jean Noel Destrehan, is a tour you DONT want to miss when visiting New Orleans. Located along the great river road, Dianne takes you through what it was like to like to be a house slave, what the life of a field slave was like, cultural influences that affected the flavors of food in Louisiana, and even does a musical demonstration with a real Mardi Gra Indian about what the sounds of music in the fields was like. This is a plantation tour near New Orleans unlike any other you will experience.

If you would like more information on Louisiana River Parishes and Destrehan Tours and arranging your visit, please email: Willma@lariverparishes.com

Well, this video goes into the other side of traveling to New Orleans. We are talking about what tourists should not do when they visit New Orleans. 10 Things That SHOCK Tourists about The South

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Oak Alley Plantation RARE tour of INSIDE the House and ENSLAVED Quarters

Oak Alley Plantation is a beautiful homestead on the west bank of the Mississippi River. It is located in Vacherie, St. James Parish, Louisiana. It is known for the quarter-mile of 28 giant 300-year-old oak trees that lead up to the big house. It also balances out the history of the big house going from a plantation to a cattle ranch and now on the National Historic Registry, with plantation slave quarters built in the same place former slave shacks would have been. Make sure to get your tickets early and take advantage of the historical interpreters on-site near the slave quarters.

Despite being a town of just a few thousand people, St. Francisville is a standout in many ways - it's home to a meditation park with a Japanese-American garden, live music, and art scenes, the largest bald cypress tree in the eastern US, plantation homes both well-preserved and ruinous, an infamous prison, and the biannual rodeo that prison hosts for the public.

I love to travel the world, connect with different cultures, and find sustainable adventure. I have explored the most off the beaten path places, and cultures throughout the world.

With over a decade of professional photography experience, and a self-taught videographer and editor. I also want to teach you a few tricks of the trade to make better travel videos, and take better travel photos - even if you are a solo traveler.

I’m so excited to have you here! Be sure to subscribe to your social media channel of choice right here & see you soon!
