Here’s a basic cost breakdown of my Ethiopia trip with Abyssinian Nomads:
1. Omo valley: $200-250 per day with a local tour operator.
Includes guide, 4X4 land cruiser, camping equipment. Half board meals, lodges/hotels and entrance fees to all point of interests.
2. Simien mountains: $150 - 250 per day
Price includes local guides, 4x4 land cruiser, camping equipment. All parks and point of interest entrance fees. Comes with chef and park scout as well. There is a luxury lodge option for increased price.
3. Addis Ababa: $50 to $300 per day depending on style of travel
Higher prices would include hotel accommodation, famous city tour and coffee ceremony. With local guide and food tour.
4. Danakil Depression: $150-200 per day
It is advised to only travel in this region with local tour operators due to security concerns. Price includes 4x4 land cruiser, local guides, camping equipment, all park and point of interest fees, half board meals and a park scout from the Afar region to escort entire trip.
Lalibela: $100-250
Upper price includes local tour guide, 4x4 land cruiser, hotel/lodge accommodation. Half board meal and entrance to all Rock Churches of Lalibela.

1. Fasil Ghebbi
An ancient home of kings and queens, these crumbling castle walls have seen the rise and fall of Ethiopia's elite.
Fasil Ghebbi served as the royal residence for the rulers of Ethiopia from the 1640s to 1864.
The Royal Enclosure houses a series of churches, palaces and monasteries, each with their own architectural style.
2. Debre Birhan Selassie Church
Don't be fooled by its modest yellow brick exterior, inside awaits a stunning, kaleidoscopic display of creativity in murals, wall paintings, and a ceiling covered with angels.
Debre Birhan Selassie church is one of the most beautiful churches in Ethiopia.
Debire Birhan Selassie Church, meaning 'Trinity and Mountain of Light' is the most famous place of worship in Gondar.
The church provides a stunning visual synopsis of important biblical stories.
Below the cherubs, past the tabernacle lies the Kafka-esque depiction of hell created by 17th century artist, Haile Meskel.
Full of sneering demons and tortured sinners, contoured bodies lie bruised and bloody on the walls, their pain etched so evocatively on their faces. Their emotion is almost palpable.
3. Simien Mountains National Park
Jaw-dropping plateaus, ridges, gorges and gullies characterize this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With some of the world's best trekking routes, endemic wildlife and luxurious lodges perched in hills, the Simien Mountains are Ethiopia's most popular destination, and for good reason.
Stunning Viewpoints
The entire Simien range is characterized by exceptional scenery.
As you advance further into the park, the altitude increases and the viewpoints become increasingly spectacular.
The first major viewpoint you’ll encounter is Imet Gogo, sitting at 3,926m between the Gich and Chennek campsites.
As you continue your journey, you’ll find Mount Bwahit at 4,430m, and for the adventurous, Ras Dashen towers just east of Mount Bwahit at a staggering 4,550m, making it Ethiopia’s highest peak and the tenth highest peak in Africa.

Debre Berhan (Amharic: ደብረ ብርሃን, romanized: Däbrä Brhan), formerly spelled Debra-Berhan or Bernam,[1] is a city and woreda in central Ethiopia. Located in the Semien Shewa Zone of the Amhara Region, about 120 kilometers north east of Addis Ababa on Ethiopian highway 2, the town has an elevation of 2,840 meters, which makes it the highest town of this size in Africa. It was an early capital of Ethiopia and afterwards, with Ankober and Angolalla, was one of the capitals of the kingdom of Shewa. Today, it is the administrative center of the Semien Shewa Zone of the Amhara Region.

Ethiopian emperor Menelik II, who is known for defeating the Italian invaders and for modernizing Ethiopia, found this place special, a view into the real Ethiopia across miles of mountains. This “window” allows one to look from the high country for miles and miles to the landscape beyond. The area features woven woolen baskets and hats made by the locals in which they display it for sale on the top of the mountain. This beautiful landscape also features live large troops of gelada baboons which are endemic to Ethiopia. Come to the motherland and enjoy the Aerial view of Menelik’s Window landscape. The area has natural, cultural and historical values besides its closeness to the capital city Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia is located in the Horn of Africa and is known for its natural sites and ancient cultures. Visit places like Aksum's Dungur, the royal tomb Obelisk of Axum and the famous Church of our Lady Mary. Other places to visit are the Gondar, Fasil Ghebbi, Lake Tana - the source of the Blue Nile and the Narga Selassie Church. The Lalibela's Bete Maryam, Biete Medhane Alem, Yemrehana Krestos are worth a visit. Ethiopia Tour 03 Bahir Dar to Gondar
Third part of 10 of a tour of Ethiopia in October 2009. This part is the story of a drive from Bahir Dar to Gondar. It includes visits to Guzara Castle, Fasil Ghebbi (Royal Enclosure), Falisidas Pool and Debre Birhan Selassie Church known for its magnificent murals.

ደብረ ማርቆስ በኢትዮጵያ በአማራ ብሔራዊ ክልል የምትገኝ ሲሆን የምስራቅ ጎጃም ዞን ዋና ከተማ ናት። እንዲሁም ከተማዋ የ ጉዛምን ወረዳ አስተዳደር መቀመጫ ናት። በ1998 ማዕከላዊ የስታትስቲክስ ባለስልጣን እንደተመነው የ85,597 ሰው መኖሪያ ሲሆን ከነሱም 43,229 ወንዶችና 42,368 ሴቶች ይገኙበታል።
የደብረማርቆስ ከተማ የምትገኘው በሰሜን ምዕራብ ኢትዮጵያ፣ በአማራ ብሔራዊ ክልላዊ መንግሥት ምስራቅ ጎጃም ከአዲስ አበባ በ 300 ኪ.ሜ ከባህር ዳር ደግሞ 253 ኪ.ሜ ፣ በ 37021’ ሰሜን ላቲቲውድ እና 37º 43’ ምስራቅ ሎንግቲውድ ነው፡፡
ደብረማረቆስ ከተማ የጎጃም ገዥ በነበሩት ደጃዝማቸ ተድላ ጓሉ በ1845 ዓም የተቆረቆረች ሲሆን የከተማዋም መጠሪያ መንቆረር ይባል ነበር፡፡ በ 1872 ዓም ወደ ሥልጣን የመጡት ንጉስ ተክለሃይማኖት ካሁኑ ቅዱስ ማርቆስ ቤተክርስቲያን መመስረት ጋር ተያይዞ የከተማዋ ስያሜ መንቆረር መባሉ ቀርቶ ደብረ ማረቆስ እንዲሆን አዋጅ በማስነገራቸው የከተማዋ መጠሪያ ሊሆን በቃ፡፡ ደብረማርቆሰ በክልሉ ከሚገኙ የሪፎርም ከተሞች አንዷ ስትሆን ከተማዋ በስሯ 6 ቀበሌዎችና ማዘጋጃ ቤት ያሉት የከተማ አስተዳደር አላት፡፡ በ2002 ዓ.ም የተዘጋጀ የተቀናጀ ልማት ፕላን አላት፡፡
