The Dutch winters are no longer very special these days: little cold and little snow. But now and then King Winter still comes out surprisingly.
This was also the case on February 7, 2021 when a cold northeasterly wind rose and a precipitation area yielded about 15 centimeters of snow. The following days the temperature dropped to -5 degrees Celsius during the day, to -10 to -15 degrees at night and the perceived temperature dropped locally to -20 degrees. Skating was possible in many places. The cold weather lasted only a week, but it had been a long time since we had experienced such a winter period.
In the video, I am driving from Leusden to Amersfoort on the morning of February 8, 2021 because of an appointment.

De Nederlandse winters zijn tegenwoordig niet meer zo heel bijzonder: weinig kou en weinig sneeuw. Maar af en toe komt Koning Winter toch nog verrassend uit de hoek.
Zo ook op 7 februari 2021 toen er een koude noordoostenwind opstak en een neerslaggebied ongeveer 15 centimeter sneeuw opleverde. De dagen daarna zakte de temperatuur overdag naar -5 graden Celcius, 's nachts naar -10 tot -15 graden en de gevoelstemperatuur zakte lokaal naar -20 graden. Op veel plekken kon er geschaatst worden. Het koude weer duurde slechts een week, maar het was lang geleden dat we zo'n winterse periode hadden meegemaakt.
In de video rijd ik op de ochtend van 8 februari 2021 van Leusden naar Amersfoort vanwege een afspraak.

This bicycle trip has two parts: the first is a tour through the city of Amersfoort, and afterwards we take a scenic route to Den Treek, Woudenberg and then to Zeist.
