Dabhol Beach is a black sand beach
The Dabhol port boasts of centuries old history. Dabhol was of great importance in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. It used to be the principal port of South Konkan region, carrying on trade with ports in the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. During 13th to 15th centuries this port was ruled by the Bahamani dynasty and was known as Mustafabad. Later on it was Hamjabad and then it was Dabhol. You can find many religious places of Hindus and Muslims. There is a fine mosque called Shahi Masjid with dome and minarets standing close to the port which was built in Adilshah’s Regime. It is said that Adilshah’s Begum spent around 1.5 million rupees in Indian currency for the construction of this mosque. Shahi Masjid is an excellent example of Muslim architecture. Dabhol was previously very famous, but of late much ruined by the Wars, and decreased in trade.
There are also some other beautiful places across the creek. Half an hour's trek through the woods from the fishing village Anjalvel leads to the historical fort Gopalgad. At the sea side end of the ruined fort there is a beautiful lighthouse and two ancient temples. Ferry service is available to take vehicles across the creek from Dabhol to Dhopave. There are some good hotels and restaurants and they serve very good fresh seafood.

Home stay ची रचना- होम स्टे पर्यटकांना त्यांचे स्वतःचे गावचे घर वाटावे अशा थीमने केला आहे. घरात एकूण 3 रूम्स असून माडीवर दोन आणि तळ मजल्यावर एक रूम आहे. तिन्ही रूम मध्ये 12 जण राहू शकतात. Extraa बेड धरून 15 लोक आरामात राहू शकतात. तळ मजल्यावरील रूमला खास कोकणी घराचा फील यावा म्हणून स्वतंत्र शेणाने सारवलेली पडवी दिली आहे. पडवीत झोपाळा आहे. समोर सारवलेलं अंगण आणि तुळशी वृंदावन असं टिपिकल कोकणी घर आहे.
माडीवरील दोन रूम ग्रुप साठी उत्तम आहेत. दोन्ही रूमना कॉमन बाल्कनी आहे. बाल्कनीतुन समोरच्या डोंगराचा आणि नारळी पोफळीच्या बागेचा view आहे. दिवसभर वारा वाहत असल्याने उन्हाळही इथे सुसह्य वाटतो. छप्पर कौलारू आहे. कौलांची मजा घेण्यासाठी मुद्दामच मध्ये सिकिंग केलेले नाही. यामुळे जुन्या कोकणी घराचा फील टिकून राहतो.
शक्यतो सर्व जुन्या पारंपरिक पद्धतीचे घर बांधायचा प्रयत्न केलेला असला तरी सर्व आधुनिक गरजेच्या सोयी दिलेल्या आहेत. जसे अंघोळीसाठी नळाला गरम पाणी, मिक्सर, शॉवर, इंटरनेट इत्यादी.
2. काय काय करता येईल?
होम स्टे शांतताप्रिय आणि निसर्गप्रेमी पर्यटकांवर फोकस करून रचित केला आहे. निसर्गाच्या कुशीत आणि टुमदार कौलारू घरात निवांत राहण्याची ज्यांना इच्छा आहे अशा लोकांसाठी हा उत्तम पर्याय आहे. होम स्टे जंगल भागात असल्याने पक्षी प्रेमींसाठी सुदधा उपयुक्त आहे. तसेच दिवसभर राहून कंटाळा आला तर बॅडमिंटन, कॅरम, टेबल टेनिस इत्यादी खेळ खेळ खेळण्याची देखील सोय आहे. हेदवी वेळणेश्वर गुहागर ही प्रसिद्ध पर्यटनस्थळे होम स्टे पासून 25 km च्या त्रिज्येत आहेत.
3. वडद गाव हे मुख्यतः त्याच्या नितांत सुंदर नैसर्गिक लोकेशनमुळे प्रसिद्ध झालं आहे. इथे जवळपास 150 वर्ष जुनी सुपारी बागेला पाणी घालण्यासाठीची पाटाच्या पाण्याची सिस्टीम आहे. कुठलाही पंप किंवा यंत्र न वापरता केवळ ग्रेव्हीटीचा वापर करून आजही इथल्या सुपारी बागा हिरव्यागार आहेत. गोड्या पाण्यावरची म्हणून इथल्या सुपारीला बाजारात वेगळी ओळख आहे. अजून एक आकर्षक म्हणजे इथले खोत सोमण यांची शे दीडशे वर्ष जुनी घरं आणि चिरेबंदी पाखाड्या. तसंच इथे विपुल प्रमाणात जैव विविधता देखील आहे. गवे, बिबटे, वनगायी , कोल्हे, कालिंदर यांबरोबरच अनेक दुर्मिळ प्रजाती जसे खवले मांजर गिधाड यांचा देखील या भागात अधिवास आहे. नीरज सोमण याने लावलेल्या ट्रॅप कॅमेरात सह्याद्री पट्ट्यात आढळणाऱ्या रान कुत्र्यांचा देखील इथे वावर आढळला आहे.
पांडवकाठी बद्दल- पांडवकाठी exact किती जुनी असावी याचा ठोस संदर्भ उपलब्ध नसला तरी ती किमान 500 वर्ष जुनी असावी असा अंदाज आहे. पांडवकाठी साठी वापरलेला दगड या भागात किंवा संबंध कोकणात सहसा सापडत नाही. पूर्वी तो असावा किंवा बाहेरून मागवला असावा असा समज आहे. महाभारत काळात अज्ञातवासात असताना पांडव या ठिकाणी आले होते आणि त्यानीच येथील सोमेश्वराचे देऊळ एका रात्रीत बांधले अशी आख्यायिका आहे. सूर्योदय व्हायच्या आत पांडव आपला मुक्काम हलवत असत आणि त्या घाई गडबडीत त्यांची ही दगडी काठी इथे राहिली असा समज आहे. सद्यस्थितीत पांडवकाठीवर पूर्व दिशेला तीन चित्र कोरलेली आहेत. सुमारे 8 फूट उंच आणि एक *एक फूट रुंद अखंड दगडात साकारलेली ही पांडवकाठी आहे.

चंडिकादेवी मंदिर-दाभोळ /Chandika devi dabhol / Panhalekazi Cave /Tourist Places in Dapoli/ Dabhol
Hello Friends , welcome back. Today it's our 2nd day in Dapoli and we will be visiting Panhalekaji caves, Anda Masjid and the beautiful Chandika Devi temple.
*CHANDIKA DEVI TEMPLE - This temple is around 20 km Dapoli city . It's said that the goddess Chandika devi is self proclaimed and all the wishes of the devotees gets fulfilled after praying to her. The idol of goddess can be seen inside the cave. Devotees come here in huge numbers for the blessings of goddess. The surrounding of this is very eye-catching with beautiful sea shore and ship in the sea and suruchi trees on the corner of the sea shore.
*PANHALEKAJI CAVES* - We get to see the beautiful invention of this 29 caves near the Nante village of Dapoli. In 1970 , the history lover of Dabhol Shree Anna Shirgaonkar enlightened this 29 caves. This 29caves are the samples of the beautiful art work of ancient time. In some caves at entrance only we can get to see the seating arrangement of pandavas and also their remains can be seen, which was found during digging .In those remains we can get to see the idols of goddess which are cored on it , also some events of Mahabharata and Ramayana , bhairav , Nandi and hanuman can be seen cored on it. So do visit this ancient caves of panhalekaji which are samples of great art work.
*ANDA MASJID* - This masjid is built in Irani style with beautiful artwork. In front on the masjid we get to see water tank and fountain. There are three huge pillars on south side of the masjid and on all four side of the manohare of masjid is designed with eye-catching art . This masjid was built by the architect named Kamil khan and he took 4 years to complete this work. As we enter into masjid we get to see huge pillars and the beautiful art done on the inner side of the ghummat can also be seen. From here only there is a small way to go up and as we go up we get to small rooms along with beautiful art done on there ghummat. This masjid is surrounded by beautiful coconut and betelnut trees.
