1. Christ the King, Poland
Christ the King statue in Świebodzin, Poland is 52.5 meters (172 feet) and is considered the tallest statue of Jesus in the world, including the mound and crown. It was completed in 2010, built by a Polish priest Sylwester Zawadski, with a cost of over USD 1.4 million of donations from the locals.
2. Christ the King, Portugal
Inspired by Rio’s Christ the Redeemer statue, Christ the King was built between the years 1959 – 1969 in Lisbon, Portugal. It was a symbol of gratitude by the Portuguese, for being largely untroubled during the Second World War. The statue itself is just about 25 meters tall, but stands on a 269-feet tall pedestal on a cliff over the Tagus river, and this makes it the tallest monument of Jesus in the world.
3. Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro
Everyone knows this iconic statue of Jesus towering over Rio in Brazil. The 30-meter was constructed between 1922 and 1931 and is now one of the seven wonders of the world and probably the most famous monument of Jesus in the world. However, it is just the 5th biggest statue of Jesus Christ in the world, with a height of 30 meters (98 feet – not including its 8-meter or 26-feet pedestal). The arms of the statue are spread wide, spanning a distance of 28 meters (92 feet). It has lightning rods on the arms, head and hands because it is hit by lightning 12 times every summer on the average.
4 . Cristo de la Concordia, Cochabamba, Bolivia
The second largest statue of Jesus in the world, Cristo de la Concordia (Christ of Peace) stands at a height of 33 meters — one for every year of Christ’s life — and is just a few centimeters higher than the Christ Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. To reach the statue, visitors have to climb 2,000 steps up the hill, and on Sundays, visitors can climb to the arms of the statue for breathtaking views.
5 . Christ of the Abyss, Key Largo, Florida
Christ of the Abyss is a 2.6 meter submerged bronze statue of Jesus Christ in Florida and is just one of three created by the Italian artist Guido Galletti who designed it. It is held in place by a 9-ton concrete base and was submerged in 1965. It is a highlight for swimmers, scuba divers and the local glass-bottom boat tours.
6. Cristo Rey, Colombia
Built in 1953, the Cristo Rey is a statue 26 meters tall in the Cerro de los Cristales in the village of Los Andes, west of the city of Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. It is located on top of a large mountain in the city and only fit visitors can climb to the top to get a taste of the panoramic views it brings. Others will have to hire a cab if they desire to reach the top.
7. Monument to the Divine Savior of the World, El Salvador
Built in 1942, this monument has Jesus standing on Earth, which is on top of a tall concrete base. It is located in San Salvador City in El Salvador. It was damaged to some extent in an earthquake in 1986 but was repainted and restored in 2010.
8. Jesus de greatest, Imo state, Nigeria
Imo state in Nigeria is known for its grand gestures using statues. After a 43-year-old businessman, Obinna Onuoha, had a dream in 1997 to build a giant statue of Jesus, the ‘tallest statue of Jesus in Africa’ commenced construction in 2013. Unveiled three years later, the statue stands in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Abajah village in Imo state. Made of white marble, the statue stands at 8.53 metres (28.0 ft) tall and weighs 40 tons. It is the tallest statue of Jesus in Africa and one of the tallest statues in Africa.
9. Christ of Vũng Tàu, Vietnam
This huge statue of Jesus began construction in 1974 and was completed in 1993. It is 32 metres (105 ft) high and standing on a 4 metres (13 ft) high platform, making it a total of 36 metres (118 ft). The arms outstretched to a total of 18.3 metres (60 ft). One impressive thing is that it has an internal 133-step staircase allowing visitors to climb inside.
10. Christ the Redeemer of the Andes, Chile – Argentina border
A sign of peace, Christ the Redeemer is located right on the border of Chile and Argentina and was unveiled in 1904 to mark the peaceful resolution of a border dispute between the two countries.

Christ the Redeemer (Portuguese: Cristo Redentor) is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida fashioned the face. Constructed between 1922 and 1931, the statue is 30 metres (98 ft) high, excluding its 8-metre (26 ft) pedestal. The arms stretch 28 metres (92 ft) wide. It is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone.
The statue weighs 635 metric tons (625 long, 700 short tons), and is located at the peak of the 700-metre (2,300 ft) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca National Park overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro. A symbol of Christianity around the world, the statue has also become a cultural icon of both Rio de Janeiro and Brazil and was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Puerto Plata City Guide ???????? In this video we're heading to the city of Puerto Plata to spend one day exploring with our friends @JumpingPlaces . This is a perfect guide for anyone who wants to know the best things to do in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to spend just one day. Puerto Plata is one of the main cruise ship ports in the Dominican Republic and therefore gets loads of cruise ship passengers almost daily.

MONTE CRISTI / CINEMATIC VIDEO/ DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
La joya del noroeste, la provincia fronteriza de Montecristi presenta un paisaje salvaje y cautivador, ideal para aventuras fuera lo común. Plantaciones de arroz y plátano, cabras y cactus gigantes se encuentran a lo largo de la carretera que te lleva hasta estanques de sal y acantilados de piedra caliza que abrazan el océano atlántico y sus olas. Alrededor de este escenario parte desierto y parte similar al mediterráneo, túneles de manglares te llevan hasta frescas lagunas, mientras que cayos mar adentro se llenan de aves migratorias y ofrecen playas de arena blanca aisladas.
El modesto pueblo de San Fernando de Montecristi, fundado por Nicolás de Ovando en 1501 y nombrado en honor al Rey Fernando de España revela un legado rico e inspirador. Aquí fue donde el cubano José Martí y el General dominicano Máximo Gómez planearon la independencia de Cuba de España, puedes ver varios documentos expuestos en el Museo Máximo Gómez. Juan Isidro Jiménez, Presidente de República Dominicana de 1899 a 1911, era originario de Montecristi, aprovechó que los inmigrantes llegaron desde Europa, Estados Unidos y Sudamérica durante este período para ayudar a exportar la madera y los productos agrícolas de la región. El pueblo fue transformado en un puerto comercial importante. Pocos saben que Montecristi fue el lugar donde se instalaron el primer acueducto, las primeras vías de tren y el primer teléfono de República Dominicana.
Los atardeceres adornan el pequeño pero hermoso malecón de este pueblo al igual que sus playas, con múltiples hoteles y restaurantes que rodean el área, y que preparan la especialidad de esta zona, el chivo (cabra) picante. Desde tu mesa frente al mar y desde cualquier punto del pueblo podrás ver El Morro, la icónica meseta que reina sobre Montecristi y a sus pies se encuentra una espectacular playa. Aquellos que se aventuran fuera de la arena y hacia el Océano Atlántico podrán practicar kitesurf o ir bajo el mar para explorar la barrera de coral que corre en paralelo a El Morro y se extiende hasta Punta Rucia. Es el arrecife más grande y saludable de República Dominicana. A la distancia y a lo largo de la bahía de Montecristi se encuentra una de las mejores zonas de snorkel y buceo del país, Cayo Siete Hermanos, una serie de siete cayos que también son áreas de anidación de piqueros pardos y otras aves migratorias.
Por último, pero no menos importante, querrás ver los naufragios de Montecristi, sus aguas son conocidas como “el cementerio de barcos del Caribe” con más de 450 galeones hundidos que datan hasta la época de Colón, muchos de los cuales aún esperan ser descubiertos y estudiados por arqueólogos marinos.

Monte Cristi is the Dominican Republic’s most northwestern province, bordering Haiti, and about 3 hours’ drive from Puerto Plata or 2 hours from Santiago. It’s uniquely located in a topography that offers clear emerald green beaches, natural swimming pools surrounded by mangroves, vibrant wildlife, uninhabited little islands (keys/cayos), and arid desert-like mountains. This more virginal and not-so-trotted region also boasts some of the earliest and most impactful colonial history in Latin America: such as being one of the first colonial cities to having critical ties with Cuba’s independence thanks to Maximo Gomez.
“There’s nothing in Monte Cristi but lots of mosquitos” expats in Cabarete warned me when I asked for suggestions on the best things to do in Monte Cristi. Just three days into exploring the Monte Cristi region had proven those grumpy expats wrong. In fact, I left hungry to see more! So I went back to explore the rest.
Today, I can confidently say that Monte Cristi is one of the most underrated hidden gems and best places in the Dominican Republic to explore. So if you are considering whether Monte Cristi is worth visiting, I hope this list of the best things to see and do in Monte Cristi will convince you to go!

Su nombre proviene de la Inmobiliaria La Fe, antigua propietaria de los terrenos, que a su vez toma su nombre del antiguo ingenio azucarero La Fe, que operó en esa misma localidad unas décadas antes.
Es uno de los sectores más importantes del Distrito Nacional, limitado al norte con la Avenida Pedro Livio Cedeño, avecinando con el Barrio de Cristo Rey; al sur con la Avenida San Martín, avecinando con el Ensanche Kennedy; al oeste con la avenida López de Vega, avecinando con el sector de Arroyo Hondo4; y al este con la Avenida Máximo Gómez, avecinando con el sector de Villa Juana
Fundado en el año 1942, por orden del dictador Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina, con el fin de construir un acueducto y el antiguo hipódromo Perla Antillana, fue inaugurado en 1941 en el lugar donde hoy se ubica la Plaza de la Salud. Además de dicho complejo de 5 centros hospitalarios, en el área se encuentran el Hospital Salvador B. Gautier, el Liceo La Fe, el Estadio Quisqueya, la estación televisiva Color Visión y el Coliseo Carlos -Teo- Cruz
