69. ???????? Drive from Campo Grande then Coxim then Rondonópolis - Brazil
Rondonópolis is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Mato Grosso , located in the Southeast region of the state, 210 km from the capital Cuiabá . It has 239,613 inhabitants (2021).
Rondonópolis has the second highest gross domestic product (GDP) in the state of Mato Grosso. It is strategically located at the junction of Highways BR-163 and BR-364 and is the link between the northern and southern regions of the country. All agricultural and industrial production is transported through these routes to the major metropolitan centres and ports of Brazil .
With an important geographic location, the city has a new growth leap in industrialization. Today, the diversification of industrial segments has generated important titles for the municipality: the largest soy oil crushing, refining and packaging centre in Brazil, the largest fertilizer mixing centre in the Brazilian interior, the largest state production of animal feed and supplements, slaughterhouses with international standards and is preparing to consolidate itself as one of the main textile hubs in the Midwest, through incentives and investment in the weaving and clothing industry. More recently, Rondonópolis begins to receive investments in the metallurgy sector.
It represents an important hub that serves 21 municipalities and around 560,000 inhabitants. It invests in professional qualification, infrastructure, technology and human development, as an incentive for the growth of agricultural production, industry, commerce and tourism, generating employment, income and quality of life for all who live and invest here.

A Wild Journey on the Transpantaneira Highway from Cuiaba to Porto Jofre
We began a 6+ hour drive to Porto Jofre on the Transpantaneira Highway under an unseasonal rain storm which wrecked the road. Calling it a highway at any time is a bit of a misnomer as it is a bumpy 1-2 lane dirt road with 122 poorly maintained scary wooden bridges. The unexpected rains made the drive pretty treacherous as our vehicle slid back and forth and even sideways across the road even when driving at very slow speeds.
In spite of having an excellent driver we almost had to abort the trip as several brides were out and the road was blocked by a large bus of drunken fishermen that skidded across the road trapping them inside and blocking all passage for hours. Our guide was about to hike the remaining 8 miles to the lodge to seek help when a 4x4 vehicle came by and was able to take him to our lodge to seek help. Every time we tried to squeeze by the stranded bus we would start sliding into it, so our guide and others slipped between the vehicles pushing them apart. Luckily no one was crushed and we squeezed by. I guess that’s what makes for an adventure we sure were luck having some pretty dedicated staff.

Manaus ( AFI : [mɐ̃ˈnaʊ̯s] or AFI : [maˈnaʊ̯s] ) is a Brazilian municipality , capital of the state of Amazonas and the main financial , corporate and mercantile center of the Northern Region of Brazil . [ 7 ] [ 8 ] It is the most populous city in the Amazon , in the North Region and in the entire Brazilian Amazon , with an estimated population of 2,255,903 inhabitants in 2021. [9 ] Located in the center of the largest rainforest in the world , Manaus is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Brazil [ 10 ] and also the most influential city in the Western Amazon , where it has a significant impact on commerce , education , finance , industry , media . , research , military power , technology and entertainment throughout the region, receiving the classification of regional metropolis , by theBrazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). [ 11 ] Manaus houses the headquarters of the National Institute for Research in the Amazon (INPA), being the most important center for scientific studies of the Amazon biome and for international sustainability issues . [ 12 ] [ 13 ] [ 14 ] The city is located more precisely at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers [ 15 ] and its greatest cultural symbol is the Teatro Amazonas, listed as a National Historic Landmark by IPHAN . [ 16 ] [ 17 ]
Founded in 1669 from the Rio Negro Fortress , Manaus became known during the rubber cycle as the Paris of the Tropics , due to the luxury of its European architecture, attracting foreign investment and immigrants from all over the world. [ 18 ] As a result, Manaus became known worldwide and exerts significant national and international influence, whether from an environmental, cultural or economic point of view. [ 12 ] [ 14 ] [ 19 ] [ 20 ] [ 21 ] It has important monuments, museums , parks , beaches , research institutes and theaters , such as the Teatro Amazonas , the Monument to the Opening of Ports , the Amazon Biotechnology Center , the Technological Development Institute , the Sidia Institute of Science and Technology , the Parque Municipal do Mindu , the Jardim Botânico de Manaus , Praia da Ponta Negra and high-profile events, such as the parade of the samba schools of the Grupo Especial de Manaus at the Sambadrome[ 22 ] and theAmazonas Opera Festival, at Teatro Amazonas. [ 23 ]
Manaus is the seventh most populous city in Brazil , and its metropolitan region , with over 2.7 million inhabitants, is the 11th most populous in the country . The city has a cosmopolitan character , attracting immigrants and tourists of different nationalities. [ 24 ] In 2010, the Human Development Index (HDI) of Manaus was considered high by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), whose value, at 0.737, was the highest at the state level. [ 25 ] Considering only longevity, the index is 0.826, the income index is 0.738 and the education index is 0.658.[ 25 ] According to thequality of liferankingMercerin 2019, Manaus appears in fourth place among the evaluated Brazilian municipalities and in 127th place worldwide. [ 26 ] In general, the consultancy analyzed items such as health, economy, education, housing, public services, culture and the environment. [ 27 ] [ 28 ]
The municipality has the sixth largest GDP in Brazil, representing, alone, 1.1% of the entire national GDP in 2019. [ 29 ] Manaus is the third most entrepreneurial city in the country, according to the Connected Smart Cities Ranking of 2021, behind in front of the federal capital Brasília , and capitals such as São Paulo and Porto Alegre . [ 30 ] The city is home to companies such as Samsung Brasil , [ 31 ] Petróleo Sabbá [ 32 ] and Rede Amazônica , the largest communications group in the North Region.[ 33 ] The capital of Amazonas hostedthe Ibero-American Athletics Championshipsin 1990, [ 34 ] was one of the twelve host cities ofthe 2014 FIFA World Cup, one of the five host cities ofthe 2016 Olympic Gamesand host of the2018 Women's Libertadores Cup.
