I was on my way to the mountains and discovered this city. This was big surprise for me since I thought Serra da Estrela region is more rural.
This city in Portugal - Covilhã reminds me of mini Lisbon. So if you are planning to go to northeast of Portugal, put this city in your bucket list. It is worth it ????????
Little info dose about this place :
Covilhã is a city and a municipality in the Central Portugal. The city has 33,691 inhabitants and municipality population is around 46,455 in an area of 555.60 square kilometres (214.52 sq mi). It is located in the Beiras e Serra da Estrela subregion and Castelo Branco district.
This city sometimes is reffered city of wool and snow.
Covilhã is one of the main urban centres of the historical Beira Interior region. The proximity of the mountains offers amazing scenery and a great environment for those who want to hike, camp, climb and ski.
Historically region was focused on textile industry supplied by an abundance of wool produced in the area.
Covilhã is also a university city nowadays and university offers degrees in aeronautical engineering, medicine and philosophy.
The city of Covilhã sits pretty high between 450 and 800 metres (1,476 and 2,624 feet) above the sea level and the mountain landscape is always present.

Well well well, at long last I've finally made a vlog somewhere in Portugal OTHER than Lisbon! In this episode, we travel by mainline CP train from Santa Apolónia railway station all the way up to Covilhã, where we are met by our musician friends from the band 'The Hilltop Ramblers'.

SUR LA ROUTE DE COVILHÃ - PORTUGAL
Sur la route de Covilhã - Portugal
Juste avant de quitter le parc naturel de la Serra da Estrela, il y un belvédère (Miradouro Varanda dos Carqueijais - coordonnées GPS: 40.291360, -7.527451) qui offre un excellent point de vue sur la ville de Covilha.
Comme plusieurs autres villes du Portugal, elle se distingue par sa multitude de maisons blanches aux toitures orangées. Elle se situe dans une vallée qui débute au pied de la chaîne de montagnes.
Nous sommes d'ailleurs passés par le centre historique de cette ville pour nous rendre à Idanha-a-Nova, notre prochaine destination.
Je vous présente donc un court aperçu de cette ville que nous avons trouvé, à première vue, fort jolie.
