One day in Cottbus! ????????
Cottbus is a university city and the second-largest city in the German state of Brandenburg after the state capital of Potsdam. With around 98,000 inhabitants, it is the most populous city in Lusatia. Cottbus lies in the Sorbian settlement area of Lower Lusatia, and is the second-largest city on the River Spree after Berlin, from which it is situated around 125 km upstream. The city is located on the shores of Cottbus Eastern Lake, which will be Germany's largest artificial lake by surface area when flooding is completed.
What to see in one day in Cottbus?
•The Staatstheater Cottbus is the only state theatre of the German federal state of Brandenburg in Cottbus. It has its own ensemble presenting plays, operas, operettas, musicals, orchestral concerts and ballet. The theatre had more than 130.000 spectators in 2013.
•The Spremberger Tower is a former defensive tower in Cottbus in Brandenburg. It is located in Cottbus's old town at the southern end of Spremberger Straße, known colloquially as “Sprem”. The first construction of the Spremberger Tower as a gate tower of the Spremberger Tor dates back to the 13th century. The tower was redesigned several times over the centuries and added new elements. Since 2007, it has been possible to climb it on many days of the year without prior registration. The viewing platform at a height of 28 m offers a view over the city of Cottbus and far into the surrounding area.
•The Altmarkt is the central square in the old town of Cottbus in Brandenburg. It was created in the 13th century as a crossing point between three old trade routes.
•The Upper Church of St. Nikolai is a late Gothic brick church in Cottbus in Brandenburg. The church is located on Oberkirchplatz and Sandower Straße near the Altmarkt. The building is the largest medieval church in Lower Lusatia and has been a listed building since the 1970s. The Upper Church of St. Nikolai serves the parish of St. Nikolai Cottbus in the Cottbus parish of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia. It was previously also known as the German Church.
•The Cottbus District Court, is a court of ordinary jurisdiction in Germany. It is responsible for first instance jurisprudence in the city of Cottbus and in the Spree-Neiße district. The courthouse is a registered monument in the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg.
•The main library of Cottbus-Senftenberg University, also known as Universitätsbibliothek Cottbus, is located in the central building of the university's Cottbus Campus. The library primarily serves the university's students, academic staff and researchers, but is also open to the public. The library offers a wide range of resources and services to support learning, research and teaching. It has a large collection of books, magazines, ebooks, theses and other academic materials, both in physical and digital formats. Additionally, it offers access to numerous online databases, digital resources, and other research tools.

What to do in COTTBUS? We make our own city tour and take in the atmosphere of the city and see the old buildings, expecially around the central square. KROMLAU could be famous for its RHODODENDRON park and the DEVILS BRIDGE. And DARGUN we just visited because we needed a place to sleep and there we found a WILD CAMPING location, so we made the best of it.
