The St. Pierre Park is a public park of Amiens in France. It has replaced the semi-wild space around the pond of Saint-Pierre, once paradise of fishermen and campers. Designed in 1993 by the landscape architect Jacqueline Otsy, it is a green area of 22 ha, along the Somme canal, near the Saint-Leu district, the Faubourg Saint-Pierre and hortillonnages .
It is a contemporary garden. A footbridge, under the Beauvillé bridge, makes it possible to reach the pier of Hortillonnages. Another, to the south, spans the Somme and connects the park to the Saint-Leu district.
Designed according to the standards of sustainable development (no watering is to be done, no phytosanitary products are used, etc.), this project was awarded the Landscape Award, awarded by the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development in 2005 .
In 1994, the park won the Urban Parks category award. The space is organized around the Promenade des jours, 620 meters long, it is divided into several gardens:
to the west, the Labyrinth reproduces, with its clear slabs, that of the cathedral
to the east, the Glacis des Ginkgos stops at the amphitheater of greenery.
the green rooms, squares with hedges shelter various sports activities: basketball, tennis, roller-skate.
the meadow and the playground are the domain of the children

Main church of the Royal Abbey of Saint-Pierre de Corbie founded in the 7th century by Queen Bathilde, the current abbey church offers only a very partial view of what it was like in its heyday.
The primitive abbey church, dedicated in 670 to Saints Peter and Paul, by Bertefride, Bishop of Amiens, was destroyed by fire in 1021-1022. It was rebuilt some thirty years later. A fire again destroyed the abbey on August 1, 1137, another ravaged it, fifteen years later.

The building was rebuilt. The church had eight chapels including the Soyécourt chapel, the destruction of which was financed by the Soyécourt family to make it their necropolis in 12973.
A third church was built on the same site. The reconstruction of the current abbey began in 1501 under the abbacy of Pierre d'Ostrel or Dostrel or Dottrel, 61st count-abbot of Corbie. In 1507, when Pierre d'Ostrel died, only the choir and the transept with the lantern tower with its spire were completed.
Work resumed only in the 17th century. We choose to rebuild the nave in the flamboyant Gothic style. The nave being completed, mass was celebrated for the first time in the entirely rebuilt church on June 29, 16984. from above. The building in its entirety then extended over more than 117 meters in length5.
Inside the building you could see sumptuous furnishings: stalls made by Charles Cressent, organs by Charles Dallery (1736), an ironwork canopy for the choir by Jean Veyren (1764).

L'équipe de l'Office de Tourisme du Val de Somme est heureuse de vous présenter le premier volet d'une série de vidéos de valorisation du patrimoine du Val de Somme. Il s'agit d'un circuit jalonné de panneaux au cœur de la ville, permettant de découvrir plus en détail les monuments historiques corbéens.
La prochaine vidéo sortira au mois d'octobre. Elle sera axée sur les batailles qui ont eu lieu dans le Val de Somme lors de la Première Guerre mondiale.

Footage Shows American Troops Preparing For World War One
HISTORIC footage has come to light showing American troops of the 27th Infantry Division preparing for World War One.
The pictures show officers arriving at the vast base which is located in the valley of the River Somme, host to the Battle of the Somme, in which three million men fought, making it one of the bloodiest battles in history.
Soldiers at a training base in Corbie, France, are also shown going through marching drills as well as taking place in sporting activities such as Boxing and Sprinting, helping boost morale of the men who had flown half-way across the world to fight.
The 27th Infantry was one of only three American divisions formed from one state, New York, and had over 27,000 enlisted men. They were to sustain 8,209 casualties during WW1.
Its insignia was designed to reflect this with the letters ‘NYD’, standing for ‘New York Division’, forming a monogram within a large ‘O’ after their commander John F. O’Ryan, who is pictured overseeing the boxing tournament in the company of other generals.
The troops, also known as O’Ryan’s Roughnecks, saw plenty of action on the battlefield during the First World War, fighting at the Battle of Dickesbusche Lake and the Battle of Vierstratt Ridge.
Significantly, they were successful in breaking the Hindenburg line during the Somme offensive, forcing a German retreat which lead to a successful final confrontation for the Allied forces at Selle River.
Upon the success of this final mission, surviving members of the division were sent home in February 1919.

Je suis à Kalambaka en Grèce et je souhaite me rendre à Delphes. Malheureusement, il n'existe aucun bus direct. C'est très compliqué de prévoir mon itinéraire car chaque région de Grèce a son propre réseau de bus et aucun site internet ne compile les informations de toutes les compagnies. Finalement, je dois me résoudre à faire une escale à Athènes. J'en profite pour visiter l'ancienne agora avant de reprendre un bus vers ma destination finale : Delphes.
