The Top 10 Pennsylvania State Parks (2023 edition)

Join us this week as we take a look back at some of my favorite State Parks within the commonwealth of Pennsylvania! In this video we will be talking about some of the best parks PA has to offer, from the history rich Eastern side of the state to the banks of Lake Erie and everything in between. Just a little disclaimer, no I haven't been to each and every state park within the state, this list will focus on the 25 parks I've documented thus far. Every year we will be coming out with a new update to this list as we add to our park totals.

Best of California National Parks 2020

Best of California National Parks 2020: Welcome to sunny California! The Golden State’s all-star line-up of National Parks gets 37 million visitors a year and includes 840 miles of coastline, the tallest peak in the lower 48 and the hottest place on earth! Today, Jack and Colton revisit some of their favorite adventures in California’s 30+ National Parks highlighting Death Valley, Mojave Desert, Sequoia National Park, and Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

02:14 - Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is home to 46 miles of beaches and 500 miles of trails suitable for hiking and/or biking. The best part is that you are only minutes away from Downtown Los Angeles. Grab your surf boards, lace your hiking boots and grab your binoculars because this area has a lot to offer, even activities to spot marine wildlife such as whales, dolphins and sea lions. Here's a list of additional activities in the Santa Monica National Recreation Area:

05:56 - Death Valley National Park straddles the California-Nevada border, east of the Sierra Nevada. Death Valley was given its forbidden name by a group of pioneers lost in the winter of 1849-1850. Death Valley has nearly 1,000 miles of roads, mostly old wagon roads, that were used for the mines during the Gold Rush. We recommend cruising down Titus Canyon Road if you're in the are. It's one of the best! Did you know that rocks weighing up to 700 pounds can sail across the beds of Death Valley National Park?

10:38 - Joshua Tree National Park. Did you know that Joshua Trees aren't actually trees? They're plants that are part of the Yucca family and only grow in the Mojave Desert. Joshua Tree National Park is also home to The Chasm of Doom - a maze tucked underneath rock formations of granite boulders. As you can expect, The Chasm of Doom is a scramble and tight squeeze (just so ya know). Joshua Trees aren't trees, they're succulents:

13:43 - Sequoia National Park is home of the largest and longest living trees on the plant; some more than 2000 years old. The largest sequoias grow as large as a 26-story building and can sustain a girth of 100 feet in circumference.

15:21 - Morro Rock in Sequoia National Park. California has a dozen mountain peaks higher than 14,000 feet and some of the world's greatest rock climbing areas. One area in particular sites where Morrow Rock is, a towering granite dome that stands 900 feet above the valley floor.

Rock on the Park:

Scenic Vistas at Colton Point State Park | Pennsylvania Grand Canyon | Barbour Rock Trail

In this Episode:
Our 2023 camping season continues, and we’re BACK in SCENIC PENNSYLVANIA!
Our series, this time, takes us to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. There’s so much to explore in this area, so we decided to take a trip, and stay at Leonard Harrison State Park for 3 nights!
It’s Sunday, and therefore our last day at Leonard Harrison State Park. We have until 3:00 to get out of our site, per the usual at Pennsylvania’s State Park Campgrounds.
I’ve always wanted to explore Colton Point State Park, which is on the Western Side of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. Colton Point has many scenic vista’s, and like LH is located above the deepest part of the canyon.
The canyon, carved by glaciers, now continues to get deeper as Pine Creek erodes the bedrock beneath. It features many steep rock cliff faces, and some such as Barbour Rock provide a stunning view. This particular rock would be our destination on this day. A short loop hike that’s even handicap accessible will bring you to this epic vista!
We hope you all enjoyed this series! One day we hope to return to this area and show you more of PA’s great scenery!

Next week; The East Broad Top Rail Road!

Our journey continues every Thursday at 5:00!

Friends, welcome to our RV Camping and Adventure channel. Ryan and Rachel here, we are weekend warriors with a mission to highlight RVing in the eastern United States. We are joined by our daughter Sarah, son William, and our two dogs (Trigger and Lilly). Home is in Pennsylvania, and while PA is our favorite State to explore, we’ve found there’s much more to explore! Our 2019 Wildwood X-Lite is towed behind our 2021 RAM 2500 BigHorn. We hope you will subscribe, join us on some of our adventures and be inspired to go on your own adventures.
