Set on the edge of the crystal blue waters of Lake Annecy, fed by the waters of the French Alps this historic town in the Savoie region of France is a must-see place.
The River Thiou flows from the lake giving this town its lifeblood, and a dramatic setting for the Palais de l’Isle, the 12th-century castle that sits on an island in the river. From the quaint cobbled lanes & streets, we wander to the edge of the lake and take in the views of Haute-Savoie.
We take one of the only climbs in the old town, up to the restored Château d’Annecy with views over the town and the lakes before we discover the bustling back streets of Rue Sainte-Claire and explore a food market.
This is our personal view of the town, which initially disappointed, only to win is over and is now a place we really want to return to.

Going down from Romme to Cluses in France on a bicycle, in rain
This was slightly scary because of the rain. 8.00 minutes into the video you can hear me laughing (and saying Holy Moses) when I realize the road is hacked into a vertical cliff with a drop just two meters away. This is best seen between 12.30 - 13.50, where you can also hear me wisteling, probably a bit nervous. At the end, around 15.30, the speed is quite insane.
