OAXACA, MEXICO | The Perfect Oaxaca Travel Itinerary (Coast to the Mountains in 2-3 weeks)
Oaxaca lies in the southwest of Mexico. It’s made up of a vast coastline and rugged mountains, with narrow valleys, canyons and ravines between them. Oaxaca is best known for its unique cuisine as well as its indigenous people and cultures. The largest indigenous groups are the Zapotecs and the Mixtecs, but there are sixteen groups that are officially recognized. These cultures have survived better than most others in Mexico thanks to the state's isolating terrain and commitment to honoring traditions. In this video, we will show you the perfect Oaxaca itinerary. This itinerary is recommended for at least a 14 day stay in Oaxaca and can be completed by public transportation, rental car, or a mix of both!
Stop 1: Puerto Escondido
How to get here: Direct flights from Mexico City and Guadalajara
Recommended stay: 3-5 days
Stop 2: Mazunte
How to get here: Bus from Puerto Escondido to Pochutla and tell the bus driver that you want to get off at San Antonio. From there, you’ll have to take a taxi or local collectivo.
Recommended stay: 1-2 days
Stop 3: Zipolite
How to get here: 20-minute taxi ride from Mazunte
Recommended stay: 1-2 days
Stop 4: San José del Pacifico
How to get here: Bus from Lineas Unidas Bus station in Zipolite directly to José del Pacifico
Recommended stay: 2-3 days
Stop 5: Oaxaca City
How to get here: Bus from San José del Pacifico main road to Oaxaca City (bus leaves every hour)
Recommended stay: 7 days including day trips as mentioned below
Stop 6: Mitla
How to get there? Take a bus or rent a car from Oaxaca City, which will take you here in approximately 1 hour.

Stop 7: Hierve el Agua
How to get there? Located 70 kms or 43 miles from Oaxaca City, this is another site you can do as a day trip. You can rent a car or take a tour from Oaxaca. Alternatively, you can come by collectivo from Mitla.

Stop 8: Pueblos Mancomunados
How to get there? There are buses to Cuajimoloyas and Benito Juárez that leave from the “second class” bus station in Oaxaca City a few times a day. The driver will drop you off near the “tourist office” where you can book your activities and accommodation.

Where to next?
After exploring the highlights of Oaxaca, you can continue your journey across other states in Mexico. The most common travel route goes to the southeast to San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas. It’s possible to take the ADO night bus from Oaxaca City, which takes about 12 hours.
Alternatively, you can head to the north towards Puebla and Mexico City. Puebla is another beautiful city and gateway to the surrounding mountains and volcanoes. It takes about 4 hours to get here.

Sin embargo, la herencia de estos antepasados se remonta mucho más allá de edificaciones perfectamente elaboradas y olvidadas en el tiempo. Chiapas y sus pobladores representan la historia mexicana en su pasado pero más aún en su presente.

- Cañón del Sumidero - Tuxtla Gutiérrez
El Cañón del Sumidero está ubicado a 5 kilómetros de Tuxtla Gutiérrez, en Chiapas. Constituye un espacio natural de los más ricos en esta localidad.
- Selva Lacandona - Palenque
La Selva Lacandona es uno de los destinos turísticos en Palenque Chiapas, donde podrás encontrar territorios arqueológicos que prácticamente están sin descubrirse ya que fueron devoradas por la selva.
- Plan de Ayutla (Ocosingo)

It is 77 miles from Guadalajara and is more amazing than I could portray.

Welcome to Guadalajara Mexico
Welcome to Guadalajara Mexico, The city of Guadalajara was established in five other places before moving to its current location. The first settlement in 1532 was in Mesa del Cerro, now known as Nochistlán, Zacatecas. This site was settled by Cristóbal de Oñate as commissioned by Nuño de Guzmán, with the purpose of securing recent conquests and defending them against the still-hostile natives. The settlement did not last long at this spot due to the lack of water; in 1533 it was moved to a location near Tonalá. Four years later, Guzmán ordered that the village is moved to Tlacotán. While the settlement was in Tlacotán, the Spanish king Charles I granted the coat of arms that the city still has today.
This settlement was ferociously attacked during the Mixtón War in 1543 by Caxcan, Portecuex and Zacateco peoples under the command of Tenamaxtli. The war was initiated by the natives due to the cruel treatment of Indians by Nuño de Guzmán, in particular, the enslavement of captured natives. Viceroy Antonio de Mendoza had to take control of the campaign to suppress the revolt after the Spanish were defeated in several engagements. The conflict ended after Mendoza made some concessions to the Indians such as freeing the Indian slaves and granting amnesty.
The village of Guadalajara barely survived the war, and the villagers attributed their survival to the Archangel Michael, who remains the patron of the city. It was decided to move the city once again, this time to Atemajac, as it was more defensible. The city has remained there to this day. In 1542, records indicate that 126 people were living in Guadalajara and, in the same year, the status of the city was granted by the king of Spain. Guadalajara was officially founded on February 14, 1550, in the Valley of Atemajac. The settlement's name came from the Spanish hometown of Nuño de Guzmán

Ta podróż do Meksyku była dla nas wydarzeniem specjalnym. Mieliśmy sporą przerwę od dalekich wyjazdów i chcieliśmy doświadczyć czegoś zupełnie nowego. Czy spodziewaliśmy się, że będzie aż tak wspaniale? Nie! Tego chyba nikt nie przewidział. Możemy spokojnie napisać, że to nasz najlepszy wyjazd dotychczas, przede wszystkim dlatego, że zobaczyliśmy bardzo dużo. Zaplanowaliśmy ambitny plan zwiedzania zarówno centrum Meksyku jak i Jukatanu i praktycznie cały plan zrealizowaliśmy. Do tego z ogromną dawką emocji i uśmiechu na twarzy.
Po mniej więcej roku przerwy wracamy do publikacji naszych doświadczeń. I tęsknimy, zdecydowanie chcemy niebawem wrócić ????????
