Switzerland is a small country full of surprises and wonderful villages. Since decades, Switzerland has been attracting numerous tourists from allover the world. It is the Alps that fascinates most of the visitors but also the very well preserved villages. Although Switzerland is quite small, depending on the region, the villages and towns may look very different. In this video, the 10 most beautiful villages from allover the country will be presented in detail. While there may be a few that you might have heard of, there will be quite some surprises. Gruyères is THE place to experience the medieval vibes in Switzerland. The castle, the museums and furthermore the foodie world of Gruyères are really exciting to experience, do not forget to try fondue, Gruyère cheese and double cream! Zermatt is the most popular village on this list. Visit the many panoramas over the Swiss Alps, see the Matterhorn or simply explore the village of Zermatt itself! Discover the many beautiful traditional wooden houses scattered around this Swiss village! Visit what used to be the smallest municipality of Switzerland: Corippo. Corippo is located in the Valle Verzasca in Ticino. It's a wonderful village full of stone houses and very interesting: ONLY 12 people live in there! Surely, it's not crowded there. Saint-Ursanne is another medieval village; the town that could be in a fairytale. Saint-Ursanne is built along the river doubs and charms with its many medieval houses and wonderful abbey. Guarda - the town of Schellenursli - in the lower Engadin is located in the Rumantsch speaking region of Switzerland. It's far away the urban centres and very quiet. Best to visit during Summer or on Chalandamarz! Grimentz is THE stereotypical village of Switzerland. It's located up in the Swiss Alps and charms with its many traditional wooden houses. The houses are all decorated with red flowers; cheesy and alluring! Lauterbrunnen is another touristy favorite. The village is small but it's located in the Valley of 72 Waterfalls! Enjoy the scenery with its many waterfalls and greens! Do not forget to go up to Wengen and the Jungfraujoch! Epesses is located in Switzerland's wine region at lake Geneva! It's a wonderful village in the middle of the vineyards and definitely offers you enough viewpoints over the wine terraces, lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps. Stein am Rhein is also a very medieval and cultural village. The old town is perfectly preserved and charms with its many painted houses. Spectacular is the No e Wili play that is held on a 10-25 years base. Enjoy swimming in the river Rhine or dining at the Castle Hohenklingen. MORCOTE is the most beautiful Swiss village on this Top 10 list! It's located at Lake Lugano and charms with its appearance of being built at the hill. Stunning is the church Maria del Sasso, the wonder garden in the Parco Scherrer and furthermore the many viewpoints on the hill. Morcote is by the way considered not very touristy. Top 10 Winter Switzerland - Christmas and more! [Travel Guide]
Winter in Switzerland is a great season, as there are plenty of great things to do! Especially up in the Swiss Alps, there will be a lot of snow. There will be no greens during Winter and thus, the activities during the white season will very much differ from Summer. Winter is the season for skiing, Christmas, sledding, carnival and snow in general. Having travelled across the country during this season, I present you the Top 10 attractions of Switzerland during Winter.
Up in the Swiss Alps, there are many beautiful villages that appear specially nice during Winter. For example Grimentz is very much worth to visit during this time. Just nearby, there is the Zinal Glacier that looks very fascinating with its natural ice cave. You will need to go for a two hours’ winter hike to reach the glacier. December marks the beginning of Winter and also of Christmas season. Visit the many Christmas markets all around the country, in the larger cities or in the villages. During this month, many towns transform into charming Winter wonderland. Sledding is another great and fun activity to go for during Winter. Great toboggan runs (tracks) are up in Andermatt at the Nätschen or at Bergün. Feel the thrill of the speed while going downhill. Great views you can get at the Grindelwald First, you will see the many peaks of the Swiss Alps and also can go for skiing. Very enjoyable is the cliff walk at the Grindelwald First that takes you around a massive rock. Also consider visiting the village of Grindelwald itself. Zermatt is a very highlight of Winter up in the Swiss Alps. During this season, you will often get unobstructed views to the Matterhorn, the landmark of Switzerland. There are various places from where you can get a brilliant view over the Matterhorn: At Zermatt village itself, Sunegga, Blauherd, the Rothorn or the Gornergrat. All in all, so many great things to do during Winter in Switzerland.

CHUR - THE OLDEST CITY IN SWITZERLAND - Walking Tour, February 2023 (4K)
With a quick and convenient bus at the front door of the hotel in Chur West, it was only a few minutes before arriving in the Old Town to walk around the winding and sometimes narrow cobblestone back streets and alleys.
Chur (pronounced more like Core), has a history of settlement dating back over 5,000 years.
Archaeological evidence of settlement at the site, goes back as far as the Pfyn culture (3900-3500 BC). Remains and objects from the Bronze and Iron Ages have also been found in the eastern sector of the current city's centre. These include Bronze Age Urnfield and Laugen-Melaun settlements from 1300 to 800 BC and Iron Age settlements from 500 to 300 BC.
The Roman Empire conquered the area that then came to be known as the Roman province of Raetia in 15 BC. Under emperor Diocletian (late 3rd century AD), the existing settlement of Curia Raetorum (later Chur) was made the capital of the newly established province of Raetia prima.
One thing you must try when visiting is the Hot Roasted Chestnuts, they were amazing.
The Old Town area is totally Car Free (delivery vehicles excluded) which makes walking around that little bit more enjoyable.

EXPERIENCE CHUR 4K | Graubünden | Switzerland | Cinematic Travel Video
Experience Chur, the biggest city in Graubünden with it's 38'000 residents, offers a unique contrast between modern and historical architecture. The lovely old town of Chur is located right next to a very city-looking train station. The Bernina Express departs from this station and leads over the mountains of Graubünden. In the old town of Chur are lots of little stores and restaurants. You'll also find clubs where you can spend your saturday nights.
The industry part of Chur includes the famous twin towers Mercure Chur City West which are the main figure of the modern look of the city. Within it is a hotel and a large shopping mall.
The beer brewery Calanda has it's headquarters here aswell.
So you see, Chur is a very diverse city surrounded by a beautiful mountain region.

Top 10 SWISS Villages - Most beautiful towns of SWITZERLAND [Full Travel Guide]
Switzerland is a rather small country but has plenty of beautiful villages. Many of them have maintained their traditional appearance, which has attracted numerous tourists from all over the world. The diversity of the Swiss villages has fascinated many visitors, whichever region you visit, the villages all look unique and different. Some people say that you only will get to feel the authentic villages, when you choose to visit one or more of the many traditional villages. But which ones are worth to visit? With this video, I proudly present you my TOP 10 MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES OF SWITZERLAND for the year 2023 in detail. I am sure that you may be familiar with a few of these 10 villages, but the majority on this list will most likely be new to you! This is likely the most detailed travel guide video about Swiss villages here on YouTube! Wonderful Marthalen lays in northern Switzerland in Zürich’s wine land region. The village charms with its many wood frame houses and alleys. Marthalen is best to be visited during Spring and Summer, when the entire landscape shines in green. Nearby attractions would be the village of Rheinau with its monastery and the Rhine falls, Europe’s tallest river waterfall. Gandria in Ticino is a beautiful hanging fishing village just at the boarder to Italy. Gandria is best to be visited by boat from Lugano, Morcote or Porlezza. The village has numerous stairs and alleys and feels like a maze, quite exciting! Poschiavo is located in the Italian-speaking part of the canton of Graubünden. The village is rather large and the most alive among all of these villages on this Top 10 list. The village also has a very interesting history one can learn about in the three local museums. Lessoc is a rather secret village located in Fribourg. It’s less noticed due to the more famous nearby towns of Gruyères and Château d’Oex. Lessoc is great for those visitors who want to avoid crowds. Sonogno is the uppermost village in the very touristy Valle Verzasca. It’s very popular among Swiss and German visitors but remains rather unknown to the rest of the world. The village charms with its traditional stone houses and alleys. Albinen is the hidden gem of this list. It’s very similar to Grimentz but the core is larger and there are more details to discover. The village is very raw, alone this fact is a strong reason for anyone to come here. Albinen is best to be combined with nearby Leukerbad, the Swiss oasis of wellness. Morcote remains a favorite for anyone who loves alluring villages. It’s similar to Gandria but busier. Consider climbing the hill to enjoy a great vista down to the church. Lungern is probably the most popular village on this Top 10 villages list. Lungern has been admired for its green hills and turquoise lake, definitely a wonderful alpine oasis to visit. Iseltwald, the winner of Last years’ Top 10 villages list does not seize to amaze its visitors. The village is full of these wonderful wooden houses that well blend with the lake and the green hills. Iseltwald is great to be included into a holiday at Interlaken. The winner of this year’s Top 10 Swiss Villages is Bosco Gurin! This place remains very raw despite its incredible beauty! Bosco Gurin is the perfect serene village one would seek to find. Enjoy walking around in the many alleys, spotting the traditional stone and wooden houses and enjoy the alpine environment. Chur (Switzerland) Vacation Travel Video Guide
The town of Chur is located in East Switzerland, at that Position at the upper end of the Rhine-Valley, where the old trade routes between the Alps and Lake Constance crossed and is the centre of Rhaeto-Romanic Switzerland.
The citizens of the city joined the Reformation in 1523, and their new guild constitution ruled that secular power passed from the bishop to the craft associations. Emperor Frederick the Third confirmed this new freedom, but the bishop did retain, among other things, the customs, minting and hunting laws. In the Reformed Church of Saint Martin the Catholic mass was abolished and the Protestant Last Supper was celebrated for the first time.
In the 13th century the settlement was surrounded by a city wall, where the approximately 1,000 craftsmen, traders and farmers remained within until the 18th century.
Benedikt of Rosthad had his Episcopal Residence built above the roofs of Chur in 1733. Well protected by solid walls. As early as 450 AD, Chur became the first episcopal residence north of the Alps.
In the centre of the courtyard rises the Cathedral of St. Assumption. The columns of the cathedral are decorated with elaborate capitals and seven altars decorate the interior, which is covered by a wooden picture ceiling with fantastic details.
The guild regime came to an end shortly before 1840. A new constitution with freedom of trade was adopted, the guilds lost their legitimacy and disbanded. Chur became the centre of the Three Leagues and in 1820 the capital of Graubünden, and thus a member of the Swiss Confederation.
