Brittany-Highlights: The old medieval town Dinan ║ Travel Tips France Part7

May 17th - Day 6 of 17: Around noon we arrived in Dinan, coming from Le Mont Saint Michel.
After checking in (B&B La Maison Pavie in the center of the old town) we strolled through the streets of the medieval city. The houses are rustic yet charming, being built with stone, timber and painted with hearty, lovely colors, dating as far back as the 13th century.
We climbed up the bell tower to get gorgeous views of the surroundings.
The magnificent St. Saviour Basilica has been built in Romanesque style and is one of Dinan's top attractions.
Another interesting place is the Dinan Castle (Château de Dinan), built from 1382.

Rouen, France: Go to Gros Horloge, Historial Jeanne d'Arc, Cathedral -Best travel places to see

Second day of our journey through Normandy and Brittany: Coming from Reims in the early mornig we have a whole day to explore this beautiful medieval city: The pedstrian area, the Cathedral, the clock tower and of course the multimedia show Historial Jeanne d'Arc - a unique highlight of our visit.
Check out these top sights.

???????? COUTANCES, Wonderfull Normandy Town, France - Walking Tour [4K/60fps]

Coutances is a French commune, located in the department of Manche in Normandy.
With its majestic Notre-Dame cathedral and its botanical garden, one of the most beautiful in Normandy, Coutances is a dynamic city offering a real quality of life.
Coutances, classified as a Land of Art and History, has a rich historical past.
The city was erected in the 1st century BC.
Capital of the Unelles (Gallic people), it was named Cosédia, then renamed Constantia in the 4th century.
Coutances was the administrative, judicial and religious capital of Cotentin until 1795, when the administrative capital was established at Saint-Lô.
It was hard hit by the Hundred Years War, then by the Wars of Religion.
Another blow was dealt to the city during the bombings of June 6 and 13, 1944, during which the city was destroyed at 60%!
The reconstruction was done in respect of the traditional architecture of the city. Since then, Coutances has regained a certain economic dynamism.

La porte Notre-Dame

Fougère Castle is the most majestic medieval defensive castle from the 12th to 15th centuries in France, covering a total area of 2 hectares. Although the building where the lord of the castle lived is in ruins, the triple walls are very well preserved, and you can imagine the majesty of the time from the towering 12 watchtowers.

When the Anglo-Saxons living in northern Germany immigrated to England around the 6th century, the native Celtic people dispersed to the continent and some of them settled and took root in the Brittany region, which did not show courtesy to the French king as a military subject until the Middle Ages. It was the only independent fiefdom of the Duke of Brittany. Fort Fougère, located on the border, at the eastern end of the Brittany region!!!
