Sri Channakeshava Temple located at Anekere( ಆನೆಕೆರೆ ) Village, Channarayapatna Taluk, Hassan District, Karnataka. The ancient Chennakesava Temple, was built in 1119 AD. Sri Channakeshava Temple at Anekere, has been beautifully restored under the able Guidance of Sri.Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Sri Veerendra Hegde in recent years.The entrance of the temple is beautifully carved with pillars and place to sit.The temple is built in Hoysala style and has a big open space around the temple.On the top of the temple, one can find finely carved Kalasha which is unique in its style and is of the biggest in size. Historical Details is the temple is built in Hoysala Style, Facing South and has three Kutas, hence known as Trikuta . The temple is dedicated to 'Lord Chennakeshava (Vishnu)'. The two distinct features of this temple are the Temple Compound Wall and the Khalasa on the Temple Shikara. The Khalasa here is supposedly the largest one found in the state. The temple is not yet under the purview of the ASI. As the priest was unavailable during our visit, the only information we got of the temple from the locals was that it was built by the Hoysalas.
Anekere is a Village in Channarayapatna Taluk in Hassan District of Karnataka State, India. It belongs to Mysore Division . It is located 32 KM towards East from District head quarters Hassan. 13 KM from Channarayapatna. 159 KM from State capital Bangalore

Shravanabelagola is a small town in Karnataka, India that is home to one of the most important Jain pilgrimage sites in the world. The town is known for its two giant monolithic statues of Bahubali, a Jain tirthankara (spiritual teacher). The larger statue, known as Gommateshwara, is 57 feet tall and is carved out of a single block of granite. It is the tallest free-standing monolithic statue in the world.
The town is also home to a number of other Jain temples and monuments, as well as a number of caves that were once used by Jain monks. Shravanabelagola is a popular tourist destination, and is especially visited by Jain pilgrims from all over the world.
Here are some additional details about Shravanabelagola:
The town is located in the Hassan district of Karnataka, about 144 kilometers from Bengaluru.
The two Bahubali statues are located on two hills, called Vindhyagiri and Chandragiri.
The town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The best time to visit Shravanabelagola is during the winter months, from December to February.

Bagur Navile Tunnel at 9.76 km is the Longest Water Tunnel in India
The longest water tunnel in India known as Bagur Navile tunnel or Bagur Navile suranga is 9.76 kms long. Also, it is the second longest water tunnel in Asia. The entrance of this underground aqueduct is situated close to the village Bagur in Karnataka. The width of the tunnel is 18 feet with a “D” shaped cross-section and has a capacity to accommodate 2500 cusecs of water. The depth varies from 50 feet to 250 feet under the ground. Four vertical shafts to the ground surface along the distance act as air ducts.
Construction was started in November 1979 by the then Chief Minister of Karnataka D Devraj Urs and was completed by March 1990. The estimated cost of construction was around 55 crore rupees. Water is supplied from the Hemavathi basin to Shimsha basin using this tunnel.

The entry point is 12 km from Channarayapatna town in the Hassan district of Karnataka. It is a nice quiet place which can be a quick stopover for the tourists visiting other famous destinations nearby in Hassan.
When the water is supplied through the tunnel it’s a treat to watch. The sound of the gush of water makes one forget everything else. When the water is stopped one can explore the inside of this pitch black tunnel which feels like exploring a cave.
The construction of the tunnel where helped the farmers of Tumkur and Mandya districts, nothing has changed in the lives of farmers affected by the tunnel project in Hassan district. Farmers in over 40 villages of Bagur-Navile region in Channarayapatna taluk, of Hassan district were the tunnel is located are facing problems even today. The lift irrigation schemes proposed to help the affected farmers have not been completed owing to non-availability of funds. Due to seepage of groundwater into the tunnel borewells in the area have gone dry, resulting in declining coconut yields and arable land.
Irrigation experts now contemplate, that there could have been a better way to supply the water. Nevertheless, the tunnel is still an engineering marvel and a tourist attraction.

Pilgrims can be see walking up the hill to visit and seek blessing at the Chandragiri temple. Pilgrims can be see at the local market and a mahout is riding his elephant on the streets of Hassan district, Karnataka.
The colossal monolithic statue of Gomateshwara or Bahubali is situated at Shravanabelagola, 158 km away from Bangalore. This gigantic statue of lord Bahubali, the Jain saint, is carved out of a single block of granite and stands majestically on top of a hill. For centuries, Shravanabelagola has remained a great Jain center and thousands of pilgrims flock to see the magnificent, gigantic statue. The saint is shown completely nude, in the Jain custom. It is 17 m. (55 ft) high and is visible from a distance of 30 km.
This statue is regarded as one of the largest monolithic statues in the world. It was created around 983 AD by Chavundaraya, a minister of the Ganga King, Rachamalla (Raachmalla SathyaVaak IV 975-986 AD). The neighbouring areas have Jaina bastis and several images of the Jaina Tirthankaras. One can have a beautiful view of the surrounding areas from the top of the hill. Sri Ramadevara Katte - Places to visit near Hassan | Hassan Tourism
This 150-year-old check dam built with stone across Hemavathi river is located at 24 km from Hassan. Named after Lord Rama its called as Sri Ramadevara Katte. It has met the needs of the farmers of Hassan and Mandya districts for nearly 150 years. It is one of the prominent places to visit near Hassan and probably one of the oldest check dams in India.
This check dam was built in 1870 by the then Mysore Maharaja with the help of British officials and was named as Ramadevara Annekatte or Sri Ramadevara katte.
It catered to the farmers of Holenarasipura and Channarayapatna taluks in Hassan district and Krishnaraja Pet taluk in Mandya district before the construction of Hemavathi dam, which was built in the early seventies.
Built with stone, the old, dilapidated dam now has water leaking from its walls, but still irrigates around 4,000 hectares in Holenarasipura taluk only were farmers mainly grow paddy and sugarcane.
The check dam has been named after Lord Rama, maybe because of an old temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman at the site. When excess water from Hemavathi Dam is let out, water floods this check dam and it’s a sight not to miss. Though the local tourists visit the place, the dam site can be developed into a major tourist attraction by the addition of more facilities.
Also, a mini hydel power generation of 1.5 MW capacity was constructed downstream of Ramadevara check dam in 2001.

Hassan is a city and the district headquarters of Hassan district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The town is situated 934 m above sea level with fine weather similar to Bangalore. The town is home to the Master Control Facility. It was founded in the 11th century, by Channa Krishnappa Naik, a chieftain (palegar). The city is named after the Goddess Hassanamba, the city's goddess and presiding deity. Some consider it the temple-architectural capital of Karnataka.
Hassan, the main city of Hassan district, dates back to the 11th century, during the Hoysala dynasty, which lasted from the 11th to the 14th century. The Hoysalas' capital was at Dwarasamundra (Dwaravati-pura), the ruins of which can still be seen scattered round the town of Halebidu.
The earlier kings were of the Jain faith, but the finest temples were dedicated to Shiva by the later monarchs in the dynasty. While the Hoysalas were at the zenith of their power, much of southern India was under their influence.
Beluru is one of the famous places near Hassan. Belur was the early capital of the Hoysala Empire. Along with Halebidu (only 16 km away), it is one of the major tourist destinations in Karnataka, India. The main attraction in Beluru is the Chennakesava temple complex which contains the Chennakesava Temple (dedicated to Chennakeshava, meaning handsome Vishnu) as the centre piece, surrounded by the Kappe Chennigraya temple built by Shantaladevi, queen of king Vishnuvardhana.

It is considered to be the world's largest monolithic stone statue and was erected by Chavundaraya, a general of King Gangaraya. The base of the statue has an inscription in Prakrit, dating from 981 AD. Every twelve years, thousands of devotees congregate here to perform the Mahamastakabhisheka, a spectacular ceremony in which the statue is covered with milk, curds, ghee, saffron and gold coins. The next Mahamastakabhisheka will be held in 2018.
