Day Trip From Paris | Champagne Tasting In Reims
If you have free time while in Paris and enjoy the sparkling beverage of Champagne, you must set some time aside for a day and make the day trip to Reims. A smaller city with a lot of history, Reims has Champagne houses everywhere over chalk caves filled with aging bubbly. This was our second trip to Champagne, our first being to Epernay, the other city in the region. It never disappoints and we learned so much on this trip. Highly recommended and it's a quick 47 minute train ride from Paris' East Station.

We have been married since 2009 and reside near Pittsburgh, PA. Even before we were married, we loved planning trips and traveling to cool destinations. It has now become our passion and we love diving into new foreign cultures, food, and attractions. We started making home DVDs for our own keepsake many years ago. It was a great way to preserve memories and re-live those memories whenever we wanted. We eventually found that uploaded these videos to YouTube made a lot of sense. We could share them with family and friends across the country in real time, on smart TVs, Ipads, and smart phones. That eventually led to us creating the “Matt n Rach” YouTube Channel. Our focus now is not only to preserve our memories, but to include educational and useful information for our viewers as well.

Paris is easily one of the most enchanting and exciting cities to visit. The city of lights has so much to offer with world class museums, beautiful architecture and cityscapes, famous monuments, delicious food, endless neighborhoods to get lost within and so much more. It's the kind of city that you could visit over and over and find something new to do and yet still feel like you have barely scratched the surface of what Paris is all about.
In this video we share how we spent 4 days in Paris with a full itinerary including the order we visited certain sites and prices for everything we saw and ate. Paris has so many worthwhile activities, sites and foods to try so it is impossible to capture everything in one trip (or even one lifetime) but we hope this video guide give you a good starting point to help you plan for your upcoming trip!

STOP ONE: MUSÉE DE LA REDDITION

Welcome to the Musée de la Reddition, a significant site in global history. This building was once the headquarters for General Dwight D. Eisenhower during WWII. It was here, on May 7, 1945, where Germany officially surrendered, ending WWII in Europe. The museum showcases the War Room, left as it was since the day of the surrender. Can you imagine? In this room, decisions that shaped the course of history were made.
You'll find numerous exhibits depicting the lives of soldiers and civilians during the war. Original maps, photos, and documents provide a snapshot of the era. The museum also houses a remarkable collection of military uniforms and weaponry. There's an educational film about the end of the war, shown in the old projection room.
Remarkably, the museum operates in the same school where American soldiers once billeted. Musée de la Reddition is a poignant reminder of the gravity of war and the relief of peace. A visit here is an evocative step back into a world-changing event.
STOP TWO: LA PORTE DE MARS

Now we've arrived at La Porte de Mars, the widest arch of the Roman world. Named after the nearby temple dedicated to Mars, the Roman god of war. Once marking the city’s boundaries, now a testament to Reims' Roman heritage.

✎ Que faire dans la Marne en Champagne pour un weekend ou un séjour complet ?
Hello ! Nous revenons aujourd’hui avec une nouvelle vidéo concernant notre séjour dans la Marne en Champagne ! Elle retrace tout notre périple dans ce beau département, qui mérite d’être beaucoup plus visité grâce aux expériences à vivre. On connaît tous le Champagne (la boisson) et il y a beaucoup plus à voir et à faire que de simples dégustations sur l’Avenue de Champagne à Epernay ! Pour ce nouveau voyage en France, nous avons découvert la “Marne Expérience Champagne” pour un séjour original. On espère que ça vous plaira !

Nous avons été ravis de découvrir le département de la Marne de cette manière. Au coeur de la nature, avec les locaux, des expériences originales et des lieux, que cela soit des domaines ou des logements, tous simplement sublimes. Nous avons commencé notre séjour par Epernay, la capitale du Champagne, et ses alentours. Dans ce coin là de la Marne, nous avons adoré :
- visiter la ville d’Epernay et l’Avenue de Champagne
- découvrir la ville et les domaines qui l’entoure depuis le ciel avec le ballon captif
- pique-niquer et faire de la dodoche (2CV) entre les vignes au coucher de soleil
- découvrir de beaux monuments comme le château de Boursault et l'Église de Chavot Courcourt
- faire du vélo et du scooter électrique dans les vignes
- dormir en chambre d’hôtes et échanger avec les locaux
- et bien-sûr découvrir le Champagne de manière originale dans les domaines Telmont, Christophe Mignon et Jean Milan avec “Au Coeur Des Sens”
✎ Où dormir, où manger et quelles activités faire à Épernay ?
À seulement une heure d’Épernay se trouve le Lac du Der, un lac artificiel construit pour réguler les crues de la Seine à Paris. Dans cet endroit vous pourrez vous évader, découvrir de magnifiques paysages et surtout des centaines d’espèces d’oiseaux venus du monde entier ! Ce que nous avons adoré :
- faire du vélo électrique autour du lac
- dormir dans des cabanes en bois dans les arbres
- rencontrer Antoine, guide ornithologue passionné qui nous a initié à l’observation des oiseaux
- faire du paddle et du kayak sur le lac
- prendre notre temps et nous balader tout autour du lac
