Thrissur ( തൃശൂർ ) formerly called Thrissivaperur , is known as the cultural capital of Kerala. There are numerous temples in Thrissur having much importance based on the myth and mysteries connected to each. Few of such Thrissur temple names are so popular like Vadakkunnathan Temple, Thriprayar Temple and so on. The world famous Thrissur Pooram festival is held at the Vadakkumnathan shiva temple where Lord Shiva is the main deity. It is believed that the legendary saint Parasurama founded this temple adding a noticeable position among the mysterious temples of India . Triprayar Shree Ramaswami temple is the main Shri Ram Temple in Kerala among the oldest Indian temple. Nalambalam is another four set of Hindu temples in Kerala dedicated to Lord Rama and his brothers of Ramayana. Nalambalam Yatra is a single day pilgrimage starting from Triprayar Shree Ramaswami Temple to Koodalmanikyam Temple and then to Thirumoozhikulam Sree Lakshmanaperumal Temple and ends up at Payammal Sree Sharthrugna Swamy Temple in the respective order. In the temples of Kerala list, Pazhayannur Bhagavathy Temple is believed to be 500 years old where the deity is in the form of Goddess Annapoorneshwari. Lord Rama and Lord Lakshmana are the deities of Vilwadrinatha Temple which is situated on the top of a hill in Thiruvilwamala village.
