Châtelaillon-Plage est une commune du Sud-Ouest de la France située dans le département de la Charente-Maritime (région Nouvelle-Aquitaine). Ses habitants sont appelés les Châtelaillonnais et les Châtelaillonnaises.
Avec ses 3 kilomètres de plages de sable fin, son agréable front de mer, son Casino, sa jolie promenade bordant la plage et ses villas Belle Époque, la commune de Châtelaillon-Plage offre aux touristes une belle palette de loisirs et de découvertes.
Elle est avant tout une commune littorale, située à 12 km au sud de La Rochelle et à 18 km au nord de Rochefort. La ville est reliée à ces deux villes par la ligne ferroviaire régionale Nantes - Bordeaux et par une voie express.

It is above all a coastal town, located 12 km south of La Rochelle and 18 km north of Rochefort. We continue our journey South along the coast, below La Rochelle, to Châtelaillon-Plage in the Charente- Maritime.
The time we were there, we were treated to a day of American supercars, Motorbikes galore and a huge fleamarket.....not forgetting the Line dancing!! Something I never thought i'd see in France!!
An absolutely lovely seside town, and a real find for us. Somewhere we may head for on a regular basis, due to the town itself. Friendly, bustling- wth everything you need for a great time! Shops, markets, a lovely seafront with bars and retaurants galore, and a massive sandy beach. All within walking distance of a large commercial campsite- 'Airotel camping Village Corsaire 2 plages.'
It was so good, we spent 5 lovely relaxing days here, soaking in the sunshine which came out in all it's glory!! Hurrah!
Definitely worth a visit if you're on this part of the coast!!

Cette année encore, la ville de Châtelaillon-Plage a su mettre les bouchées doubles afin de faire rêver et voyager plus petits et plus grands grâce à une toute nouvelle édition de Châtel en fête !
En 2023, figurez-vous que les habitants sont devenus totalement fous... Fous de musique, de cinéma, de danse et de courses folles ! Et cette année, le Centre de loisirs de La Ruche a décidé de s'intéresser aux Minions qui, par définition et tout logiquement, seront fous !
Enfin, un invité d'honneur viendra pimenter la fête avec un apport musical supplémentaire venu des contrées bretonnes de Lorient (Morbihan) : le célèbrissime Bagad de Lann-Bihoué.
Après une rapide visite du village de Châtel en fête 2023, notre équipe vous présentera le spectacle des sept quartiers puis partira à table reprendre quelques forces afin d'assister au défilé de nos danseurs des quartiers.

Spend the afternoon enhancing your tan on La Rochelle’s largest beach, before viewing the lavish yachts in the port. Minimes Beach is a charming stretch of sand in an area of upscale boutiques and restaurants. Scattered along the beach are many bathing stations complete with showers and other amenities to make your afternoon more comfortable. Find a nice patch of sand for you and your family to enjoy a French picnic of baguettes, cheese and wine.
Spot the famous Lighthouse at the End of the World in the ocean. The wooden octagonal structure is an identical replica of a 19th-century version in Patagonia. Admire its quaint design, appearing like a hut rising from the Bay of Biscay. Relax on the sand with the panoramic view of the lighthouse and sparkling blue ocean water.
La Rochelle is one of France’s loveliest coastal towns. Its historic port is beautifully preserved with a quayside that bustles with boats small and large, a seafront that is packed full of lively cafes, bars and restaurants. In the old town wander through its arcades streets, flanked by seventeenth and eighteenth century buildings that are now home to boutique shops selling everything from fashion and homeware to delicious pastries and fresh bread, books and antiques.
The old port area of La Rochelle is dominated by three 14th and 15th century towers that stand tall at the entrance and is one of the town’s major tourist attractions. Just over 400 years ago the first settlers to Quebec left from La Rochelle and Tour de la Chaine now houses a permanent exhibition celebrating this.

The Bike's Ride #5 - La côte de La Rochelle à Fouras, un littoral sauvage et balnéaire ! | LPR
C'est parti pour la saison 2020 de The Bike's Ride avec un tout nouvel épisode destiné cette fois-ci à la côte sud de La Rochelle en partant du quartier portuaire sud de La Rochelle - Les Minimes afin de longer la côte Atlantique de communes en stations balnéaires avec au programme pour aujourd'hui la traversée d'Aytré-Plage avant de poursuivre par la Pointe du Chay pour arriver ensuite au charmant village d'Angoulins-sur/-Mer.
Nous poursuivrons par Châtelaillon-Plage, LA station balnéaire préconisée par les nombreux touristes venant sur La Rochelle et sa longue plage de sable.
Notre route continuera en longeant la côte de l'ancien quartier ostréicole typique Les Boucholeurs avant de quitter la Communauté d'Agglomération de La Rochelle avec le Marais d'Yves.
Enfin, nous terminerons notre long voyage en arrivant à la presqu'île et station balnéaire de Fouras-les-Bains rendue célèbre par le personnage du même nom dans l'émission Fort Boyard !

This video along with the others in the series offers a flavour of the days spent triking during my ICE recumbent trike trip (29th May to 24th June 2022) from my home in Devon via ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff France traveling south all the way through France into Spain and then taking the ferry back from Santander Spain to Plymouth then back home.

La Rochelle, a gem of the atlantic coast of France
La Rochelle is a beautiful city in western France and the capital of the Charente--Maritime Department.It is a seaport on the Bay of Biscay, part of the Atlantic Ocean.It also has a rich history, well worth going there for a visit. The people are very kind and friendly there. The city is full of very interesting programs.What I also like about La Rochelle, that even when you visit it at winter time, still beautiful,interesting and full of life.
