???????? CAXIAS DO SUL, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil |【4K】

Caxias do Sul is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. It is located in the northeast of the state at an altitude of 817 meters above sea level, being the most important city in the Serra Gaúcha; the second most populous city in Rio Grande do Sul, surpassed only by the capital Porto Alegre; and the 47th largest Brazilian city.

Throughout its history, Caxias has been known as Campo dos Bugres (until 1877), Colônia de Caxias (1877-1884) and Santa Teresa de Caxias (1884-1890). The city was built where the Plateau of Vacaria begins to break up into several valleys, furrowed by small watercourses, with the result of having a very rugged topography in its southern part. The area was inhabited by Caigangue Indians since time immemorial, but they were violently displaced by the so-called bugreiros making room, at the end of the 19th century, for the government of the Brazilian Empire to decide to colonize the region with a European population. Thus, thousands of immigrants, mostly Italians from the Veneto region, but with some members from other origins such as Germans, French, Spaniards and Poles, crossed the sea and climbed the Serra Gaucha, opening up an area that is still almost entirely virgin.

Before the arrival of Italian immigrants in the 19th century, the region was inhabited by Caingangues Indians. Hence, its old name: Campo dos Bugres. There, muleteers also passed on their journeys between the south of the state and the center of the country. In the region, the Jesuits tried to found some reductions, although without success.

In the second half of the 19th century, due to the Italian war of unification, that European country was in a serious social and economic crisis, and impoverished farmers were no longer able to guarantee their livelihood. At this time, the imperial government of Brazil decided to undertake the colonization of uninhabited areas in the south of the country, encouraging the arrival of immigrants from Italy, after the success of a similar initiative with the Germanic element. The chosen area was then known as Fundos de Nova Palmira, a region formed by unoccupied lands, delimited by Campos de Cima da Serra, to the north, and by the region of valleys, to the south, of German colonization.

The city's primitive urban core around 1886
In 1875, the first settlers arrived, mostly from the Veneto region, after facing the arduous crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, which lasted about a month, in overcrowded ships and where deaths from disease and poor general conditions were common. Initially, immigrants arrived in Rio de Janeiro, where they remained in quarantine at the Casa dos Imigrantes. They boarded a steamer to the south, arriving in Porto Alegre, where they were sent to the former Porto Guimarães, today the municipality of São Sebastião do Caí. Then, they went up the mountain, crossing the still practically wild region, until they reached their destination: the area where, today, Nova Milano is. From there, in 1876, they moved to the so-called Headquarters Dante, site of the future Caxias do Sul, the administrative center of the colony, the first to be demarcated in the region, where they were received in a wooden shed - hence the epithet Barracão too attributed to the small colonial headquarters. Afterwards, they were distributed in rural lots assigned to them by the government. A year later, there were already about 2,000 settlers at the site. On April 11, 1877, the official name of the place became Colônia Caxias, in honor of the Duque de Caxias.

Rio Grande do Sul | A Great Destination

Rio Grande do Sul is the southernmost state in Brazil.
This state is located the southernmost city in the country, Chuí, on the border with Uruguay. In the region of Bento Gonçalves and Caxias do Sul, the largest wine producing center in Brazil, the attraction is Italian gastronomy. Besides the European influence, the gaúchos, or inhabitants of Rio Grande do Sul, strongly cultivate the traditions of the Pampas -- region of the border with Uruguay and Argentina -- such as drinking mate (known as chimarrão drunk in special gourd cups), eating the typical barbecue, known as churrasco, and the traditional clothes are the bombachas (baggy trousers), boots and large hats.

walking in Caxias do Sul: Downtown and Igreja de São Pelegrino Rio Grande do Sul, Southern Brazil

walking Downtown in Caxias do Sul Downtown and Igreja de São Pelegrino Rio Grande do Sul, Southern Brazil
Caxias do Sul , is a city in Rio Grande do Sul, Southern Brazil, situated in the state's mountainous Serra Gaúcha region. It was established by Italian immigrants on June 20, 1890. Today it is the second largest city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In 2020, the population of Caxias do Sul was estimated at 517,451 people, many of whom are of Italian and German descent. The demonym of the citizens of Caxias do Sul is Caxiense.
The history of Caxias do Sul began before the arrival of the Italian immigrants when the region was being roamed by cattlemen and occupied by Indigenous peoples. The region was called Indians' Field in that period. The arrival of Italian immigrants, mostly farmers in search of a better life from the Veneto, Lombardy, Trento (northern Italy) as well as other regions in Italy, began in 1875 in Nova Milano. Although they received governmental support such as tools, supplies, and seeds, everything had to be reimbursed to the federal government.

Two years later, the colonial headquarters of the Indians' Field was given the name Caxias Colony. The town was created on July 20, 1890 and acknowledged in the same year, on August 24. Many economic cycles marked the evolution of the city throughout that century. The first one is connected to the most significant aspect of its cultural identity: the cultivation of vineyards and the production of wine, first for its own consumption, and later on, for commercialization.

On June 1, 1910, Caxias do Sul was elevated to the category of city. On the same day, the first train arrived connecting the region to the state capital. Although the immigrants were farmers, many of them worked in other economic sectors. They settled down, urbanized the region, and started a fast-paced process of industrialization.

In the countryside, subsistence agriculture concentrates on the cultivation of grapes, wheat, and corn. Home-based manufacturing started to emerge and overproduction was commercialized. Home-based manufacturing and Caxias do Sul evolved from having small home-based workshops to large scale factories, some of which are known internationally.

Nowadays, Caxias do Sul is an important city, and due to its industrious colonists, is home to vast vineyards, wineries, a varied industrial park, and a rich and dynamic market. Those attributes grant the land great importance; for such reason Caxias do Sul is often called Pearl of the Colonies, is considered the center of the Italian presence in Southern Brazil.

Today Caxias do Sul is one of the region's central hubs, hosting some of Brazil's most diverse economies besides its size; with its industrial parks, vast vineyards, wine commerce, cattle and plantation farms give the land a further dimension.

GRAMADO | Rio Grande do Sul ???????? Southern Brazil |【4K】

Gramado is a city marked by many beauties, possessing exuberant natural wealth, being the largest tourist hub in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and one of the most important in Brazil.

The city stands out as a center of major events, in addition to hosting one of the most traditional film festivals in Latin America every year: the Brazilian and Latin Film Festival, popularly called the Gramado Film Festival or just Gramado Festival, during which Kikito prizes are distributed. Other important events that attract thousands of tourists are the Christmas festival known as Natal Luz and the Festa da Colônia, one of the most integrated festivities of the groups that colonized the region: Azoreans, Germans and Italians. For the Christmas event, between 1 and 1.5 million tourists are expected.

Among the attractions most visited by tourists are the Harley Motor Show, Hollywood Dream Cars, Super Car Show, Mirante Vale do Quilombo, Lake Negro, Lake Joaquina Bier, the entrance via Taquara, the entrance via Nova Petrópolis , Mini Mundo, Cascata Véu de Noiva, Aldeia do Papai Noel, Parque Knorr, Palácio dos Festivais, Praça das Bandeiras, Rua Madre Verônica (covered street), Praça Major Nicoletti, Igreja São Pedro, the cultural center, the Museum of Film Festivals, Lutheran Church, chocolate factories, Dreamland Wax Museum, Torta Street (R. Emílio Sorgetz), Snowland, among others.

Another place worth visiting is the Medieval Museum, located in a medieval-style castle (which has been built for the last 30 years, exclusively by a single person, its owner), in addition to displaying medieval coats of arms, it also houses the unique Brazilian Cutlery Museum, displaying knives, swords, daggers, etc., from all over the world.

In addition to family and group tourism, Gramado has become a reference in business tourism. Due to this new niche, the city built a structure to house all types of activities. Gramado Serra Park and ExpoGramado are spaces that together add up to 35 000 square meters of area and that have enough infrastructure to host large fairs. Hotels such as Serra Azul and Serrano have convention centers with adequate equipment for holding panels and debates. In addition to these, the Festivals Palace can also serve as an auditorium and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul built its own Events and Training Center in the city.

Several events such as congresses and festivals take place in Gramado throughout the year. During winter, for example, there is Estação Gramado, the main event at this time of year. The city hosts other major events, such as the Gramado Film Festival, Natal Luz, as well as the Hydrangea Festival, Chocofest, the Fenim International Advertising Festival (National Fashion Industry Fair), among others.
