Adventures of Gerald and Rhia honors and pays reverence and tribute to this great city. We are staying true to our love for travel as main inspirations that led to the creation our channel that aims to explore and document life's wonders.
Cauayan, officially the City of Cauayan, (Ilokano: Siudad ti Cauayan; Ibanag: Siudad nat Cauayan; Filipino: Lungsod ng Cauayan), or simply Cauayan City is a 3rd class city in the province of Isabela, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 129,523 people.[
A small town is founded in 1852 along the Cagayan River and in 2001, converted to a component city. During the Spanish regime, the city is a part of the Tobacco industry. Cauayan City is nearly the geographic center of the province and bordered by 7 neighboring towns which makes it as an important economic center of the province. In the recent years, there is an increase in economic activities.
Cauayan City is a fast-growing rural industrial center centrally located in the province and in the entire stretch out of Cagayan Valley. It is about 375 kilometers northeast Manila; 34.5 kilometers south of Ilagan, the capital city of Isabela; about 48 kilometers north Santiago City; and roughly 117 kilometers away from Tuguegarao City in Cagayan Province.

--WHAT TO SEE IN DANJUGAN--
I did a tour that’s arranged. I believe it’s not even allowed to go around the island without a guide, but correct me if I am wrong!
It’s p1950 per head, including lunch and snacks, the boatride to the island and back to the shore. Note you’ll still need to go to the pick up point by tricycle. From Takatuka this was 300 pesos one way (so 600 back and forth). If you make friends and get into the tour together it will be cheaper ;)
Island is very small only 0.5 km wide and 1.5 kilometer long. It’s a sanctuary which means it’s not allowed to do fishing in most area’s around it, and there are a lot of places for birds to nest. With your tour you help preserving the island.
You’ll support the island with your visit (it’s a protected area)
You can fly the drone here though!
Staying overnight on the island is possible too. In basic (very basic) huts on one side or a bit more relaxed and comforting on the other. There is no wifi, and no signal on the more relaxed place, you’ll need to walk a bit for that.
--WHERE TO SLEEP IN DANJUGAN--
There are basically 2 options on the island itself. One more basic (very basic) and one more luxurious. They’re on opposite sides of the island. It depends on your liking really.
The more basic place is more windy in general, and does not have a beach. I liked the more luxurious option a bit better, because it’s more chilled, there’s a beach and it feels more homey! But again, it depends on your liking and budget.

As for staying on the main land: I would highly recommend Takatuka Lodge! Love the place! Inspired on Pippi Longstocking’s tale, with a lot of weird rooms all over the place. Different themes like the cave room, superstar, rockadilly, a castle… you name it ;) It’s seriously the best hotel I’ve been in in the Philippines (and I have been to a lot I love ;) – It’s so funky and unique, the owners and staff are friendly and helpful, the food is great, they attract friendly guests, the beach is just there. AMAZING! Seriously. Go here. GO! What are you waiting for? ;)

--WHERE TO EAT IN SIPALAY--
Because I stayed on Sugar Beach, there’s not much options to get out for dinner. You can’t just leave and get back after dark I stayed at Takatuka mainly for food, and it’s good! Not cheap but a whole lot of variety, and great healthy stuff.

Some units include a sitting area to relax in after a busy day. Certain rooms have views of the lake or garden. A flat-screen TV is available.
A number of activities are available in the area, such as snorkeling, canoeing and hiking.

Pluses:
Selected this place to treat my wife on a hearts day. We were fetch by the resorts speed boat from mainland El Nido and took us almost 40 mins (normally 20 mins) to get to the resort due to rough seas. First glance at the resort was WOW, secluded place and truly a paradise. We were greeted by the staff and headed to reception. Did surprise the wife a little bit with some bed arrangement which was pre-planned with the management (for free). Really appreciate the effort made by Ms Hanna Sansolis (we were told) who patiently decorated the bed with lots of flowers and it was amazing. The place has an amazing view of the beach and neighboring island. We stayed at one of the beach view villa. The beach itself is a little rocky but not bad for snorkeling. We love the infinity pool although it was cold during our stay. Food are good but a bit pricey (really love the buffalo wings). I would recommend this place for a couple. Trekking on a limestone slope is one of the activities in the resort but unfortunately we did not have any protective gear (mosquitos and sharp rock edges). The SPA and gym are situated at the other end of the resort overlooking the water. The resort also offers island tours.
Overall, I think the staff's hospitality made it a 5 star resort............
Minuses:
The service water in the bathroom is a little bit salty and we had to use some (lots) of the complimentary mineral water. I think the resort needs more amenities or at least more activities specially if the weather is bad and you can not do the island tours...(zip line, more trails around the island, beach volleyball, etc...)
