Mogadishu, locally known as Xamar or Hamar, is the capital and most populous city of Somalia. Located in the coastal Banadir region on the Somali Sea, the city has served as an important port for millennia.
Mogadishu is situated on the Somali Sea coast of the Horn of Africa, in the Banaadir administrative region (gobol) in southeastern Somalia. The region itself is coextensive with the city and is much smaller than the historical province of Benadir.

Liido Beach Somalia in Mogadishu, Somalia
Lido Beach is a beach in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, which overlooks the Somali Sea. The name Lido derives from the Italian word for beach. Lido is also very popular amongst locals.
The beach in northern Mogadishu was developed in the late 1930s for the Italian colonists living in the capital of Italian Somalia. In the 1950s it was fully developed.
After prolonged decades of war and anarchy in the capital, from 1991 the beach fell into disuse.
Today, hundreds of families come to relax on Mogadishu's coastline each weekend. People stay out at Lido Beach way past dusk to watch the beautiful night skyline and the deep blue ocean. This is a perfect place to get the fresh perspective of a rediscovered Somalia.
Somalia has the biggest coastline in Africa with 3100 km along the Indian Ocean, which is home to attractive beaches valuable for tourism. To make Somalia one of the biggest entertaining and tourist destination spots in Africa, Lido Beach has seafood restaurants, hotels, and parks
Somali's diaspora plays an important role in recovering Mogadishu, building new luxury downtown and beaches like the village, Ocean restaurant, Beder restaurant, Lido seafood restaurant, City Palace and many more that attract international tourists. There are many newly established businesses here.

Shanghai Old City in Mogadishu, Somalia

Although it has been severely damaged by the ongoing civil war, the Shanghai Old City Area is still considered to be one of the major tourist attractions in Mogadishu. Shanghai Old City Area is located along the shore in South Mogadishu. During the years of Italian colonization (1920-1935), Old City was a place where Italian expatriate and the wealthiest spent most of their leisurely hours.
During the Second World War, Mogadishu was eventually captured and occupied by the British forces who operated from Kenya. Shanghai Old City for the most part was intact until 1990 when, during the civil war, rebel forces entered Mogadishu causing damage by the battles between clan based rebels.
Despite the conflicts, Old City is still an important landmark and can be considered an important attraction in Somalia. The Old City is known for its renowned beauty in architecture and as individual who appreciates this as well as history this opportunity may be the highlight of my trip.
