Known as a financial hub, Frankfurt has earned the nickname Mainhattan for its New York-like cityscape of high skyscrapers that have risen along the river and Bankfurt for being the seat of the European Central Bank. If you are starting or completing your trip in Germany in Frankfurt, you should plan on staying there for at least a day. One of the best things to do in Frankfurt is to explore the streets of Sachsenhausen and stop at the classic apple wine taverns. Apfelwein, the city's favorite, is a sour apple cider that has undergone fermentation. In addition to being the signature drink of the city, it also serves as the official state beverage in place of beer. Also on the list of the best things to do in Frankfurt is spend a day at the Frankfurt City Forest.
Frankfurt's City Forest (Stadtwald) is one of the few remaining remnants of the massive Imperial Forest, covering more than 5,000 hectares. Frankfurt is among the most forested cities in all of Germany, thanks to the Frankfurt City Forest. Only 15 minutes outside the city, it attracts both foreigners and locals with its 450 kilometers of paths perfect for hiking, running, and cycling. Last but not least, another of the best things to do in Frankfurt is to go on a food tour.

Butzbach, town of the Hesse Day 2007 and officially “Friedrich-Ludwig-Weidig-Stadt” since January 2011, is located in the heart of the federal state of Hesse and is the focal point of an enchanting landscape in the northern Wetterau. Butzbach with its 13 districts is on the edge of the Taunus Nature Park . Germany 2018 - Three Days in Butzbach
During our trip to Germany last summer, we spent 3 days in and around Butzbach. Roslyn's great uncle Erich took us to an iron mine, a castle, we toured the town, and took a day trip down the shores of the Rhine River. It was a great three days where we met a lot of new people on Roslyn's side of the family.
