Saarbrücken is the capital and largest city of the state of Saarland, Germany. Saarbrücken is Saarland's administrative, commercial and cultural center and is next to the French border. Saarbrücken was created in 1909 by the merger of three towns, Saarbrücken, St. Johann, and Malstatt-Burbach.
Some of the closest cities are Trier, Luxembourg, Nancy, Metz, Kaiserslautern, Karlsruhe and Mannheim. Saarbrücken is connected by the city's public transport network to the town of Sarreguemines in France, and to the neighboring town of Völklingen, where the old steel works were the first industrial monument to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994 — the Völklinger Hütte.

Nach einer Anreise von ca. 1 Stunde sollte uns die geplante Wanderung verwehrt werden. Aber wir haben sie trotzdem gemacht. Es ging durch Waldrodungen über dicke Bäume, durch Fingerhut und schöne verwunschene Pfade. Schöne Aussichten und ein Haufen Steine waren auch dabei.

The city of Siegen lies in the basin of the upper reaches of the river Sieg. From there, lateral valleys branch off in many directions. The heights of the surrounding mountains, wherever they are not actually settled, are covered in coppice. To the north lies the Sauerland, to the northwest the Rothaargebirge and to the southwest the Westerwald.

Historic landmarks in the city include the stone bridge across the Saar (1546), the Gothic church of St. Arnual, the 18th-century Saarbrücken Castle, and the old part of the town, the Sankt Johanner Markt (Market of St. Johann). Twice in the 20th century Saarbrücken was separated from Germany: in 1920–35 as capital of the Territory of the Saar Basin and in 1947–56 as capital of the Saar Protectorate.

Evangelische Kirche Burbach
Die evangelisch-reformierte Kirche ist ein denkmalgeschütztes Kirchengebäude in Burbach, einer Gemeinde im Kreis Siegen-Wittgenstein (Nordrhein-Westfalen). Das schlichte Gebäude steht auf dem Römerfelsen. Die ansässige Kirchengemeinde gehört zum Kirchenkreis Siegen in der Evangelischen Kirche von Westfalen.
Ursprünglich trug die alte Burbacher Kirche das Patrozinium St. Marien. Die Pfarrei wurde 1219 urkundlich genannt. Das Nachfolgergebäude wurde von 1774 bis 1776 errichtet, die Sakristei ist im Risalit in der Mitte untergebracht. Die Orgel von 1780 stammte aus der Werkstatt der Gebr. Kleine in Freckhausen. Der Westturm stammt von einem Vorgängergebäude aus dem späten Mittelalter. Bei dem Bau des größeren Kirchenschiffes wurde ein Zugang zum Turm geschaffen und die alte baufällige Wendeltreppe aus Stein durch eine Holztreppe ersetzt, um so den Zugang zu den Glocken und zur Turmuhr zu schaffen. Die Wände sind an einer Seite durch hohe Rundbogenfenster, an den anderen durch rundbogige über quadratischen Fenstern gegliedert. Im Innenraum wurde ein Spiegelgewölbe eingezogen. Die dreiseitige Empore ist, ebenso wie das Gestühl, nach Norden ausgerichtet. Der Fußboden aus Naturstein im Fischgrätmuster verlegt, stammt wohl aus der Bauzeit. Von dem alten, abgebrochenen Kirchenschiff, ist noch ein Säulenfuß erhalten. Er steht umgedreht als Tisch vor der Alten Vogtei in der Nähe.
Der Kirchhof, auf dem sich auch der Friedhof befand, war von einer Bruchsteinmauer umgeben. Diese wurde im Dreißigjährigen Krieg erhöht und mit Toren und einem Turm im Norden befestigt. Die Befestigungsanlagen sind noch fast komplett erhalten und befinden sich in einem guten Zustand.
