Uganda | Sempaya Hot Springs - Semuliki National Park
Day two of my road trip in Uganda started in Hoima. We had a 196 KM drive to Fort Portal. On the plan was a visit to Sempaya Hot Springs - Semuliki National Park. From Fort Portal to the Hot springs is a scenic 61 KM drive that brings you to the Park Office where you pay your entry fees and then start the walk to visit the male and female hot springs of Sempaya.
Located in the Semuliki National Park national park these hot springs are a very impressive natural occurrence with the water reaching more than 95 degrees. This makes it perfect for a little cooking experience under the surveillance of your Park ranger. The Park is also famous for bird watching.
On the way to Fort Portal we passed a Tea Estate. Tea production and farming in general is a major source of lively hood in Uganda.

Uganda | Crater lakes in Fort Portal
The Crater lakes in the surroundings of Fort Portal are breathtakingly beautiful to behold, and offer one of the best hiking places in the area. The hikes lead you through several crater lakes, villages, tea plantations and waterfalls. To match the beauty of the crater lakes, one can sometimes also see the tallest African Mountain range, the Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon in the distance on a clear sunny day.
For me on the 3rd day of my Roadtrip through Uganda started with an early morning hike to a Hill top that affords you a beautiful view of three crater lakes in the area and their surroundings. Much of the hike is relaxed until the steep climb to the hill top which left me sweating.
If you are planning a visit to Uganda definitely a reason to add Fort Portal to your Itinerary

Amabeere Ga Nyina Mwiru and Nyakasura Falls in Fortportal, Uganda
The caves were named after King Bukuku’s daughter named Nyinamwiru, loosely translated ‘Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru’ would be ‘Breasts of Nyinamwiru’. King Bukuku was one of the ancient Kings of the Batembuzi Dynasty that ruled that time and were believed to be demi-gods by their subjects, often disappearing to the under ground at given times.

World’s Shortest Humans | The Batwa Pygmies of Uganda
Hello Awesome people,
Originally, Batwa were forest-dwelling hunter-gatherers based in the Great Lakes region of Central Africa, and are widely accepted as the original inhabitants of the region. As their traditional forest lands and territories fell under the control of agro-industries and conservation agencies, the Batwa became squatters living on the edges of society. The establishment of the Bwindi and Mgahinga National Parks for Mountain Gorillas in 1991 enabled the authorities to evict the Batwa definitely from the forest. The Batwa in Uganda (today) experience systematic and pervasive discrimination from the government and other sectors of society, and their rights as indigenous peoples are neither recognized nor respected.

Avisit to Uganda's female and male Sempaya Hot springs #KaribuTravels
The Sempaya Hot Springs are a remarkable natural attractions found in Semuliki National Park at the edge of the great Ituri Forest on the borders of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The name ‘Sempaya’ was drawn from a Kiswahili phrase – ‘sehemu mbaya’ which is translated ‘the difficult side’ owing to the challenges encountered during the construction of the Fort portal – Bundibugyo road along the ridges of the Rwenzori Mountain ranges.
The Sempaya Hot Springs exist as two springs; the male spring and the female spring, found in two separate locations.
THE SEMPAYA HOT SPRINGS #SEMULIKINATIONALPARK #RwenzoriMountains
Most of the locals know the hot springs as Sempaya which originated from a Kiswahili phrase Sehemu mbaya (the difficult side) owing to the steep challenging rocks and terrain during the construction of the Fort Portal Bundibugyo road along the ridges of the Rwenzori Mountains.
