12 Things to See & Do at Bosnia & Herzegovina | 48 Hours in Mostar & Sarajevo

Hey everyone here is 48 hours spent in Sarajevo to Mostar. With 10/12 places to see and things to do. Bosnia & Herzegovina truly are underrated! Enjoy!

Where the East meets the West. From a complex history of Turk influence, Serb Croat influence, to now a relatively harmonious existence of Bosnians, Croats, and Serbs living together.

From the walking tour I did with Sheva (which I will link in the description and highly recommend!) We learned of the turmoil and true hardship Mostar suffered during the conflicts of the 90's.

Spend a humbling part of the day to visit one of the Victims of War & Genocide museums, one of which is in Sarajevo and another in Mostar. Horrendous atrocities committed in this period.

In the present though a brighter and more prosperous existence is happening in the area. The Balkans seems to be healing from the late 80's and 90's turmoil of war. Though from locals I spoke with the feeling is always a bit uneasy in the Balkans that a new 21st century conflict could arise.

The ghosts of Yugoslavia linger, there are still scars from the past, but Bosnia & Herzegovina is healing and moving forward in positive direction.

Travnik | Bosnia & Herzegovina | Travel Guide ????????

My name is Gabe and on this channel i'm showing you where to travel 2022 and how can you solo travel with a drone in Travnik Bosnia & Herzegovina
I'm not a travel guru, however i'm trying to find the most underrated cities and destination and present them in my solo travel vlog.
Considering subscribing for best backpacking destinations.

Travnik is a nice day-trip destination just a couple of hours outside of Sarajevo, while its location on a main transport route detracts slightly from a beautiful setting.During Ottoman administration, this was Bosnia's capital and the home of high-ranking officials known as viziers, whose tombs can be seen around the city.Travnik is well known as the birthplace of Ivo Andri, a Nobel Laureate whose work Bosnian Chronicle is based in his city.
Travnik's tourism is mostly centered on history and geography, as it is in many Bosnian cities. The neighboring Vlasic mountain, which is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's biggest, is ideal for skiing, hiking, and tobogganing.

Travnik and Jajce Tour - Day Trip from Sarajevo ???????? [2019 travel vlog]

Central Bosnia's towns of Travnik and Jajce are a great day trip from Sarajevo. Travnik used to be the capital of Bosnia in the Ottoman Empire, while Jajce has a great waterfall right in the middle of town!

In Travnik, I visit:
- Plava Voda (Blue Water) Springs
- Ornamented Mosque (Šarena džamija)/ Coloured Mosque / Sulejmania Mosque
- Ćevabdžinica Hari (best cevapi in Travnik for lunch)
- Stari Grad Castle / Travnik Castle
- Lutvina Kahva Coffeehouse (Bosnian coffee with cigarette)

In Jajce, I only had time to visit:
- Viewpoint
- Pliva Waterfall

Travelled in September 2019 as part of a road trip around Bosnia & Herzegovina. ???? Let me know what you think in the comments below - I always reply to meaningful comments ????

Winter tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia & Herzegovina is known to be mountainous and at times very cold, after all it did host the 1984 Winter Olympics. Central Bosnia is the most mountainous part of Bosnia featuring prominent mountains Vlašić, Čvrsnica, and Prenj. Eastern Bosnia also features mountains like Trebević, Jahorina, Igman, Bjelašnica and Treskavica so it’s no surprise that ski tourism is thriving here.

1. Ski Resort Jahorina
The Jahorina ski resort is located within the mountain range of the same name in the Dinaric Alps south of Sarajevo. There are 25 km of slopes available for skiing and snowboarding on Jahorina.

The winter sports resort was the site of the Women’s Alpine competitions for the 1984 Olympic Games of Sarajevo. Additional options like cross-country trails and other sport facilities are also available at the resort. You can also find plenty of hotels, holiday apartments, bars and clubs.

2. Ski Resort Kupres
In the Kupres ski resort there are 13 km of slopes available for skiing and snowboarding. There are plenty of hotels and accommodation options to choose from. The nightlife in Kupres is very rich so there’s plenty of pastime options for all the age groups.

3. Ski Resort Babin Do – Bjelašnica
The ski resort Babin Do – Bjelašnica is located in the Canton of Sarajevo. For skiing and snowboarding, there are 14 km of slopes available. In the resort, there’s plenty of options for food lovers, a club, wellness & spa center and all kinds of snow-related activites.

4. Ski Resort Risovac – Blidinje
The ski resort Risovac is located in the Nature Park Blidinje. In addition to great gastro offers and plenty of accommodation options, you can also visit medieval necropolises, hike around the plateau or visit the Blidinje lake.

5. Ski Resort Malo Polje – Igman
Igman is a mountain plateau in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the 1984 Winter Olympics, Igman was, along with Jahorina and Bjelašnica, the location of the competition in the alpine and Nordic sports disciplines. When the weather is right, from Igman, mountaineers can see all the way to Montenegro and the Adriatic Sea.

6. Ski Resort Radusa
Radusa is an up-and-coming skiing destination that’s also great if you’re a fan of freeride. In the resort you can find a motel and a restaurant at the height of 1720m that offers a spectacular view. There are 5 ski lifts serving the resort.

7. Ski Resort Vlasic
Vlašić is a mountain in the very center of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The mountain is a major center for winter tourism due to its excellent accommodation for skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports. Vlasic has a very rich nightlife and is famous for its cheese production. In addition to that, the Tornjak dog and Pramenka sheep are its trademarks.

8. Ski Resort Ostrelj – Bosanski Petrovac
Ostrelj is located just 12 km from Bosanski Petrovac. The Roman emperor Claudius has built a road through Ostrelj in 47/48 B.C. and you can still visit its milestones. Ski resort Ostrelj and its Winter Center features different ski slopes, several slopes for cross-country skiing, horse carriage rides and hiking options.

9. Ski resort Kozara
Kozara National Park is a national park that was proclaimed a protected national forest in 1967. Kozara Ski Resort is served with Mountaineering Association “Ljubijski rudar” which offers renting of ski equipment, skiing instructions, accommodation and restaurant services.

11. Ski Resort Ruiste
Rujište is a mountain in the municipality of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ski resort is served by the Snow House Ruiste with its ski slopes. The snow house has all the amenities and you can try awesome local food there.

12. Ski resort Igriste – Vlasenica

The Jajce Watermills | Visiting the unique spot in beautiful Bosnia!

*Please note this video was filmed in 2019, before the Corona Virus epidemic.*
While in the beautiful town of Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina, we took a short walk to one of the interesting, and lesser visited spots that we had been recommended. Jajce itself is a lovely town, but we wanted to get a little outside of the town, and visit somewhere a little more out of the way. Along the walk, we took in some stunning scenery, as well as taking the opportunity to stop off and a few locations. However, once we arrived, the Watermills really became a highlight of our short visit. These old mills, that were built to help mill wheat, are a stunning and unique example of using nature in a sustainable way. It proved to be well worth the walk from Jajce!

Visiting TRAVNIK, BOSNIA (10/2019)

Travnik is a city and the administrative center of Central Bosnia Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is situated in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, 90 kilometres (56 miles) west of Sarajevo. As of 2013, city had a population of 16,534 inhabitants, while the municipality had 53,482 inhabitants.

Historically, it was the capital city of the governors of Bosnia from 1699 to 1850, and has a cultural heritage dating from that period.

In the Middle Ages the Travnik area was known as the župa Lašva province of the medieval Bosnian Kingdom. The area is first mentioned by Bela IV of Hungary in 1244. Travnik itself was one of a number of fortified towns in the region, with its fortress Kaštel becoming today's old town sector. The city itself is first mentioned by the Ottomans during their conquest of nearby Jajce.

After the Ottoman conquest of Bosnia in the 15th century, much of the local population converted to Islam. The city quickly grew into one of the more important settlements in the region, as authorities constructed mosques, marketplaces, and various infrastructure. During 1699 when Sarajevo was set afire by soldiers of Field-Marshal Prince Eugene of Savoy, Travnik became the capital of the Ottoman province of Bosnia and residence of the Bosnian viziers. The city became an important center of government in the whole Western frontier of the empire, and consulates were established by the governments of France and Austria-Hungary.

The period of Austrian occupation brought westernization and industry to Travnik, but also a reduction of importance. While cities such as Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Tuzla, and Zenica grew rapidly, Travnik changed so little that during 1991 it had a mere 30,000 or so people, with 70,000 in the entire municipality.

A large fire started by a spark from a locomotive in September 1903 destroyed most of the towns buildings and homes, leaving only some hamlets and the fortress untouched.[2] The cleanup and rebuilding took several years.

From 1929 to 1941, Travnik was part of the Drina Banovina of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

During the Bosnian War, the town mostly escaped damage from conflict with Serbian forces, hosting refugees from nearby Jajce, but the area experienced fighting between local Bosniak and Croat factions before the Washington Agreement was signed in 1994. After the war, Travnik was made the capital of the Central Bosnia Canton.

Bosnia - The Country Life

A short interview on a man who live in a countryside in Cazin, northern part of Bosnia & Herzegovina... revealing the daily life in the countryside, rebuilding life 20 years after the Yugoslavia war.

Sorry for the bad audio since I didn't plan to make film here in Bosnia, it was just coincidence. Didn't take the audio recorder with me, no audio equipments, no extra rig nothing, my camera was completely naked.

A road trip through my home country of Bosnia

It's time for a road trip! Bosnia is the place this time, also where I was born. I've never really explored this place properly as an adult and my knowledge of this country was limited to my home town and the surrounding areas... with the exceptions of Sarajevo and a few towns that I only ever visited with the purpose of visiting family. It was time to change that and visit some of the places Bosnia and Herzegovina has to offer... there are many more places than the spots I went to that are worth visiting as well. This is mainly a trip to Sarajevo and the surrounding areas of Mostar, Konjic, and Blagaj. Bosnia is a fantastic country and is completely underrated!

The Old Stone Bridge - Konjic, Bosnia & Herzegovina
David’s Been Here is touring all the must-visit sites and top attractions in Bosnia & Herzegovina. In this short clip, David brings us to the south-central town of Konjic, where he pays a visit to the Old Stone Bridge. Built in the year 1682 by the Ottomans, this historic bridge was destroyed by the Germans in 1945 and then reconstructed in 2009. One of the best examples of Ottoman architecture in all of Bosnia & Herzegovina, this bridge is well worth a visit if you’re driving from the capital city of Sarajevo to the southern city of Mostar. Take some photos of the bridge, stop by for a coffee and take a short tour around this picturesque, quaint town… an interesting and quick day trip in southern central Bosnia & Herzegovina!
