What are the Top 10 Things to do in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico? Tips and Ideas of What To Do in PV

So, now that you are planning to head down to México and have decided to make it a memorable trip to the ever more famous beach-side destination, Puerto Vallarta, you should know a bit more of what to do in town and what might be the top things to do here.

The obvious attractions to enjoy the sun, the warm weather, the fun and varied beaches and the lukewarm emerald-green sea, but these are nothing but the appetizer, there are actually plenty of things you can enjoy in town with your family, kids, alone and without even paying a dime.

It depends on what you would like to do and what you love and enjoy, we've made a list of the most obvious sightseeing ideas in this video recording.

There are also excellent restaurants, spectacular tours and activities, fabulous and completely unique beaches, a fun and active nightlife and retail stores and shops around town.

Here's the list of the Top 10 free, or nearly free, sightseeing options in PV, all are kid friendly and great family outings with your children:

00:00 Start
00:05 The Malecon, a seaside stroll with fun for everyone (free)
00:21 The Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, a nice iconic church in downtown Puerto Vallarta, 80 yards from the main square and some 200 yards from the Malecon (free)
00:35 Los Muertos Beach and the pier, the most popular beach in town, offers non-stop fun, activities and a beautiful stroll after the malecón finishes north of the Cuale River (Free)
00:47 Cuale River Island and Market, an oasis in the middle of downtown Vallarta, lots to see, colorful market stands, a cultural center, a museum, iguanas and more. (Free)
01:02 La Cruz Lookout, catch a unique and impressive view of Puerto Vallarta from the top of the La Cruz (The Cross) hill (free)
01:20 Marina Vallarta, an exclusive area north of the PV Hotel Zone, has its own market, stores, restaurants and a nice lighthouse with a great view. (Free)
01:35 Mismaloya Beach is south of Puerto Vallarta, a beautiful beach, with lots of history, getting there will require taking a bus, but access is free.
01:51 Colomitos Beach, a small cozy wonderful beach just south of Boca de Tomatlan, the free option is getting there by land, which requires that you are in decent shape or very patient, another is paying 5 bucks or so and taking a water taxi from Boca.
02:09 Vallarta Botanical Gardens, a great day trip, beautiful gardens, flowers, jungle, a great river runs through the land. This option is not free, as you need to pay an entrance fee which is very reasonable.
02:22 Los Arcos, you can see them from the road (which is free), but really enjoying them might require taking a bay cruise, but most are reasonably priced.

There are many more things to enjoy on Family Trip in Puerto Vallarta, or for adults or active travelers, but those we will include in future videos of Puerto Vallarta on this channel.

Visitar, snorkel, buceo y SUP (Stand-up Paddle) a Los Arcos.

Boca De Tomatlan; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Secret Spot [2022] - Subtitulos

Eleven breathtaking and scenic miles south of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where the Rio Horcones empties its waters into a beautiful cove surrounded by bougainvillea, hibiscus, banana, papaya and palm-covered hills is this quaint fishing village where the river meets the sea. This authentic Mexican fishing village sits in a tropical jungle with cute shops, and, restaurants on or near the sand. Boca de Tomatlan has a stunning beach that feels private compared to the tourist packed main beaches of downtown Puerto Vallarta, a special and secluded escape for a day or two. People here are friendly and polite, kids play on the street and beach, and there’s lots of nature. Thank you for joining Monkey Pooperhead and I in this Secret Spot edition of Boca de Tomatlan.

Enjoy the Vallarta Botanical Gardens: Things To Do in Puerto Vallarta

Even though the Vallarta Botanical Garden is a bit far from downtown Puerto Vallarta, it's very much worth a visit, you can also combine it with a trip to Mismaloya Beach or Boca de Tomatlan, though I prefer to concentrate completely on the gardens and the fabulous restaurant they have there: Hacienda de Oro.

Bus, map, how to get there and more:

You'll not only enjoy the surrounding nature, the flowers, trees, lush jungle, but you can also rest on one of the many couches and seats on the different terraces and just relax in the breeze, the sound of birds and the general calm of the place.

The Vallarta Botanical Gardens are spread out over a 64 acre area (26 hectares) located 15 miles (35-40 minutes by car) South of Puerto Vallarta, driving along the highway south that goes to Barra de Navidad. You'll pass Los Arcos, Mismaloya, Boca de Tomatlán and Las Juntas y Los Veranos, before getting there. The Gardens are 1300 ft (420m) above sea level.

Vallarta Botanical Gardens AC (asociación civil) was founded in 2004 and opened to the public in 2005. It's quickly become one of the top attractions in Puerto Vallarta and for good reason. It's a healthy, fun and educational day trip, hiking, enjoying nature and breathing fresh air among trees, flowers, cacti, birds, insects and more, is an uplifting experience, even better when the place is well tended, with beautiful surroundings and interesting places to visit on the grounds, nice bridges, the Orchid Conservatory (they exhibit over 300 of the 1000 plus native Mexican orchid species), the Chapel (can be rented for events), the Horcones River where you can swim in the fresh water pools or climb the boulders and on and on.

The Puerto Vallarta Botanical Garden is one of the Top 10 Things To Do in Puerto Vallarta, don't miss it!

In our article we show you a map of the Vallarta Botanical Gardens, the bus you take from Puerto Vallarta to the Botanical Garden, the route there and much more:

All About Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico

You'll find Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific coast of Mexico, it's the number one beach destination in the state of Jalisco. Halfway within a very large bay called Banderas Bay, that itself is considered one of the most beautiful bays in the world. It measures 42 kilometers from East to West and 32 kilometers from North to South.

The city was founded on December 12, 1851, so the place is actually a city with history and culture, not a prefabricated destination just for tourism, it invites you to get to know the real Mexico. In 2016 PV received more than 4 million tourists.

Puerto Vallarta is the 2nd most visited beach destination in Mexico after Cancun. It offers a colorful city with excellent climate, a wide repertoire of clear sand beaches, first class hotels, restaurants from the cheapest to international gourmet quality. The atmosphere is relaxed and the locals are friendly and with a village style laid-back attitude. For those that crave a vacation with a lot of excitement, there's a plethora of high quality options for tours, activities, boat trips as well as excursions.

We invite you to check out our website, so you get a complete and accurate view of Puerto Vallarta, what it offers visitors and more information for those that are considering becoming expats in this city where Mexico comes to life.

A Tour of Colomitos Beach / Paseo en Playa Colomitos, Jalisco Mexico

Sometimes great things come in small packages, that certainly is the case of Colomitos Beach (Playa Colomitos) a small colorful and beautiful beach just south of Boca de Tomatlan, very close to Puerto Vallarta in the South Zone.

It's actually part of what is called Cabo Corrientes, another municipality in Jalisco, México, the same state as Vallarta, but that really doesn't change anything. But where is Colomitos Beach? Continue reading...

Playa Colomitos mostly offers aesthetic pleasure, there's not much to do there other than bask in the calm crystal-clear emerald waters, or enjoy the sun on the beach while listening to the calm waves lap the sandy beach. There are no services, no activities, nothing else to do, but even so, it's certainly worth a visit.

You can also combine the trip to Colomitos Puerto Vallarta, continuing along the path along the edge of the sea to Caballo Beach and Las Ánimas Beach, but that is only for the brave and fit, plus do take at least 2 to 3 liters of water along, you WILL need it.

I would recommend bringing some food and drink along to Colomitos Jalisco, also sunblock, maybe snorkeling gear too. If you walk during the dry season (up until June) the jungle won't protect you much, so do cover yourself in sun cream from time to time.

If you are wondering, there is nowhere to stay over on this beach on in the Colomitos Cove area, camping is not allowed here.

A combined visit of Boca de Tomatlan and Colomitos Beach Cabo Corrientes is a great day trip and well worth your time and effort.

----------------------------------------------------

Paseo por Playa Majahuitas (Get to know Majahuitas Beach), Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, Mexico PART 1

Playa Las Animas, Muelle y al Este / Las Animas Beach south of Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco Mexico

¿Cómo llegar a Las Ánimas Cabo Corrientes?

¡Viva Mexico! (Pt. 6) - Puerto Vallarta Malecón by Night

April 13, 2019 - It's our first night in this wonderful Mexican resort city, but there's so much more! While the city admittedly caters to tourists, it's also very much a Mexican city too, and both beach-seeking tourist and traditional culture collide on the Malecón, a 2 km long waterfront esplanade featuring shops, artwork, performers, people watching, and amazing views of the city and the bay, both day and night.

One major reason I chose the Buenaventura Grand is that it is the closest four star resort to the Malecon; I wanted to be able to walk this street any day I chose, to really see Mexican culture on a daily basis.

Also, check out that awesome pirate ship in the bay! The tour itself might be a lot of fun (if not cheesy!), but the silhouette of that boat circling the harbour from dawn until dusk adds a certain flair to Puerto Vallarta, the largest resort town on Mexico's Pacific coast.
