BODH GAYA, BIHAR || 10 best places to visit in india
Bodh Gaya is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in Gaya District of Bihar. Famous for the Mahabodhi Temple, It was here under the Bodhi tree that Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment.
It is now one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and a lot of foreign countries, including Japan and China, have helped the Indian government in building facilities for the Buddhist pilgrims. The place is bustling with pilgrims all through the year from India and abroad who come to pay their homage in monasteries, temples and remnants of Bodhi Tree.
Located near the river Neranjana, Bodh Gaya was earlier known as Uruwela. It was also known as Sambodhi, Vajrasana or Mahabodhi until the 18th century CE. It is one of the four important Buddhist sites that include: Kushinagar, Lumbini and Sarnath.

Bodh Gaya, or Buddha-Gaya as it was popularly called in the 19th century, is a sacred place for Buddhists all over the world, as this is where Prince Siddhartha became Buddha, the enlightened one. Of the four famous pilgrimage sites – the other three being Lumbini, where Siddhartha was born, KusiNagar, where he entered Nirvana and Sarnath, where he had his first sermon - Bodh Gaya is the most visited one.

Dashrath Manjhi Mountain - This place is known by a Legend Dashrath Manjhi also known as The Mountain Man.
Mahabodhi Mahavihara Temple - The temple complex is one of the four holy sites related to the life of the Lord Buddha, and particularly to the attainment of Enlightenment. The first temple was built by Emperor Asoka in the 3rd century B.C.E.

The Great Buddha Statue - It is considered to be a mascot for the Buddhist faith. Theis great statue is a mix of sandstone blocks and red granite. It's about 80 feets ( including height of lotus and base platform.
Sujata Stupa - It is also Sujata Kuti stupa or Sujata Garh, is a Buddhist stupa located in the village of Senanigrama of Bodh Gaya in the state of Bihar, India. Sujata was the daughter of a rich village head who offered the first meal of milk rice to Siddhartha Gautama.
Sujata Temple - It is located at the place where Sujata offered Kheer to Gautama Buddha.
Timing - 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
Sri Ram Tilkut Bhandar - This is one of the oldest sweet shop of Gaya, famous for Tilkut and Anarsa.

Chinese temple in Bodh Gaya is notable Buddhist monastery in Bodh Gaya. দৈনন্দিন রুটিনের একঘেয়েমি কাটানোর মোক্ষম ঔষুধ হলো ভ্রমণ। মাঝে মধ্যে ইতিহাসের ভেলায় নিজেকে ভাসিয়ে বেরিয়ে পড়তে মন্দ লাগেনা।
সেরকমই এক গল্প আজ বলতে চলেছি। তবে এই গল্পের পটভূমিকা বিহারের অন্তর্গত বুদ্ধগয়া হলেও এর অনেকটাই জুড়ে আছে এক সময়ের মগধ। যার সঙ্গে ওতপ্রোত ভাবে জরিয়ে বিম্বিসার, অশোক, হিউ এন সাং এর মতন বেশ কিছু নাম।
তবে যে নাম টার অমোঘ আকর্ষণে আজও দূর - দুরন্ত থেকে দর্শণার্থীরা ছুটে আসেন বুদ্ধুগয়ায় তিনি হলেন ভগবান গৌতম বুদ্ধ। রাজপরিবারের সন্তান হয়েও তিনি মানুষের আধ্যাত্মিক উন্নতির জন্য সারা জীবন সংগ্রাম করে গিয়েছেন।
গৌতম বুদ্ধের আমলের জঙ্গলবেষ্টিত গ্রাম উরুবিল্বই বর্তমানের বুদ্ধগয়া। রাজপ্রাসাদ ত্যাগ করে প্রথমে বৈশালী নগর পরবর্তী কালে উরুবিল্বর কাছে এক গভীর অরণ্যের ভিতর,
নিরাঞ্জনা নদীর ধারে একটি অশ্বত্থ গাছের নিচে কঠোর তপস্যা শুরু করেন। দীর্ঘ দিন সাধনার পর গৌতম বুদ্ধত্ব লাভ করেন। বোধিপ্রাপ্ত হয়ে তাঁর নাম হল বুদ্ধ।
উল্লেখ্য, বর্তমানে নিরঞ্জনা নদীকে বলা হয় ফল্গু। আর উরুবিল্ব গ্রামের নাম বুদ্ধগয়া এবং তিনি যে গাছের নিচে বসে বোধিত্ব লাভ করেছিলেন, সেই অশ্বত্থগাছের নামকরণ করা হয়েছে বোধিবৃক্ষ। এই বোধিবৃক্ষকে চীনা পরিব্রাজকরা 'মহাবোধি' নামকরণ করেছিলেন। বোধিবৃক্ষের সামনে যে স্থানে বুদ্ধ ধ্যানে বসেছিলেন, বৌদ্ধরা তার নাম দিয়েছেন 'বজ্রাসন'। গুপ্তযুগেই লাল বেলে পাথরের একটি অখণ্ড বেদি স্থাপন করা হয়েছিল। সে সময়ে এই বেদীটির নাম 'বজ্রাসন' দেওয়া হয়েছিল।
বুদ্ধগয়ার মূল আকর্ষণ হলো মহাবোধি মন্দির। সম্রাট অশোকের আদেশে এই মন্দির তৈরি হয়েছিল এবং পরবর্তীকালে গুপ্ত বংশের রাজারা এই মন্দিরটির সংস্কার করান। এই মন্দির ইউনেস্কো ওয়ার্ল্ড হেরিটেজ সাইট হিসাবে সম্মানিত। এছাড়াও বুদ্ধগয়ায় বাকি যে জায়গা গুলো ঘুরে দেখতে পারেন তার মধ্যে অন্যতম হলো-
দলাই লামা প্রতিষ্ঠিত ভারতে উচ্চতম ভগবান বুদ্ধের স্ট্যাচু, থাই মনাস্টেরি; মুচলিন্দ লেক, রয়্যাল ভুটান মনাস্টেরি, চিনা মন্দির, জাপানিজ মন্দির, ভিয়েত্নামিজ মন্দির, বার্মিজ বিহার মনাস্টেরি, সুজাতা মন্দির, সুজাতা কুটির বাড়ি স্তুপ, দাইজকিয়ো বুদ্ধিস্ট মন্দির, প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক মিউজিয়াম ইত্যাদি।
