WHERE TO STAY IN BUDAPEST: A DISTRICT GUIDE -- True Guide Budapest
The city of Budapest covers more than 500 square kilometers. It is split down the middle by the River Danube, with the residential and hilly Buda on the west side, and the commercial, flat Pest on the east side of it. Budapest has 23 districts (kerület in Hungarian), which are numbered clockwise in widening circles (like Paris' arrondissements). It is easy to find the district from the address of a location, as the two middle digits of the four number zip code indicate it (for example: zip code 1056 means 5th district).
I created this district guide to help you choose where to stay in Budapest depending on the atmosphere and your travel style.
DISTRICT I.: romantic / first time visit
this is the castle district
DISTRICTS II., III., OR XII.: to enjoy greenery and relax
these are all on the hilly Buda side (Rózsadomb, Óbuda, Svábhegy)
DISTRICT V.: the downtown, ideal for business or for families with smaller kids
the city centre (Belváros)
DISTRICT VI.: on a budget and/or to enjoy the culture of the city
this are is called Terézváros
DISTRICT VII.: the Jewish neighborhood but also has great nightlife
this are is called Erzsébetváros
DISTRICTS VIII. AND IX.: cool but perhaps rough neighborhoods
they are called Józsefváros and Ferencváros
DISTRICTS IV. AND X.: they are mainly lower middle class residential and industrial districts
they are called Újpest and Kőbánya
DISTRICTS XI., XIII., AND XIV.: primarily upper middle class residential
district XI. is called Újbuda (on the Buda side), XIII. is Újlipótváros and XIV. is Zugló.
ALL OTHER DISTRICTS (XV., XVI., XVII., XVIII., XIX., XX., XXI., XXII., XXIII.) are further out from the city

Bajza Street:
Located in the heart of the city, Bajza Street is one of the oldest and most charming streets in our journey through time. Dating back to the 18th century, it's known for its historic architecture and vibrant atmosphere.
Damjanich Street:
As we move forward in time, we arrive at Damjanich Street, which developed during the 19th century. This street is renowned for its neoclassical buildings and cultural significance.
Murányi Street:
Continuing our journey, we reach Murányi Street, a charming residential area from the early 20th century. It offers a glimpse into the architectural styles of that era.
Thököly Road:
Moving forward to the mid-20th century, we find ourselves on Thököly Road, known for its modernist architecture and commercial activity.
Hernád Street:
Our journey ends on Hernád Street, which represents contemporary urban design and lifestyle. This street has embraced the modern era while preserving its historical roots.

Utopija VLOG - Budimpešta 2024.
Evo malo utisaka sa četvorodnevne posete Budimpešti.
U januaru 2024. sa porodicom sam otišao na citi brejk. Poslovno sam obilazio Peštu ali ne i ovako. Sada se ukazala prilika da je i turistički istražimo. Koliko se može za tri, četiri dana.
Smešteni smo bili u UP hotelu. Savršena lokacija. Pored smeštaja odlučili smo se da platimo i parking u hotelu što nas je stajalo 25 evra po danu. Garaža je u podrumu hotela tako da je, i ako skuplja varijanta, svakako praktičnija varijanta nego da smo jurili jeftiniji parking pa išli prevozom... Kola nismo kroistili tokom boravka u Budimpešti. Hotel je na minut od muzeja Terora u Andraši ulici. Odatle, za maksimum 40.minuta smo mogli da stignemo do svake lokacije koju smo nameravali da posetimo.
Inače, hotel je za preporuku. Odličan doručak, sve je čisto i uredno. Kao što rekoh lokacija fantastična. Tražili smo sobu koja gleda u dvorište hotela tako da je bilo bez ulične buke, a i prozori su novi i odlična je izolacija... Bukirali smo ga preko Bukinga.
Bilo je hladno ali bez padavina tako da su šal, kapa i rukavice bili obavezna i savršena kombinacija tokom pešačenja.
Što se obilazaka tiče, usredsredili smo se na glavna obeležja grada što možete videti u videu. Ulazak na sve lokacije, unutar objekata se plaća i cena ide od 20 do 40 evra po osobi. Preporuka je da se pre dolaska u grad odlučite gde ćete ući i da to završite onlajn da bi izbegli gužvu... Naša neorganizovanost nas je usmerila na pogrešno mesto jer smo čuli da u gradu ima jedna od najlepših biblioteka u gradu i nekako smo završili u biblioteci Mađarskog parlamenta umesto u biblioteci Budimskog zamka. A kada smo hteli da ispravimo grešku uvideli smo da biblioteka ne radi vikendom... To će biti jedan od ciljeva za neku buduću posetu kao i poseta Citadeli koja je bila otvorena.
Što se menjačnica tiče treba se biti obazriv jer pokušavaju da se ugrade. Obavezno se raspitajte kolika je provizija uz dati kurs jer ide od 1 pa do 10%. Mi smo menjali na raskrsnici Oktagon gde je bilo 1% provizija.
Verujem da je na proleće Budimpešta još lepša. Verovatno su i kombinacije sa karticom odbre ali treba i to prvo istražiti.

The Sentinel Lookout is located on the top of a small hill near Esztergom, Hungary. It offers an incredible view of the city with the nearby Basilica and the Danube river.
