Brenham is more than just Blue Bell. Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself, and you'll find that it's an ice cream heaven and more!
While Brenham is filled with tons of things to do, let’s not pretend — Brenham IS Blue Bell too. At the Blue Bell Creamery you can explore this sweet side of town on their observation deck and visitor center, then stop by the Blue Bell Country Store and Ice Cream Parlor next door to the creamery for a fresh scoop of ice cream.
For a relaxing way to spend your afternoon, stop by the Pleasant Hill Winery (which is on the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail) to sip on a glass of wine on the porch, while overlooking the vineyard where the grapes came from.
It just so happens that the place where Texas began is 20 miles north of Brenham. Head to this historic site to see Independence Hall where 59 men gathered on March 2 to sign the Texas Declaration of Indpendence claiming Texas as free from Mexico’s control. Also on site are the Star of the Republic Museum, where you’ll learn about the Texas Republic period, and the Barrington Living History Farm, where you can step back in time to the 1850s at the preserved home of the last president of the Republic of Texas.
Head to Historic Downtown for some good eats at Must Be Heaven. This cafe is your one-stop lunch destination with everything from dozens of sandwiches, fresh salads and scratch-made soups. The homemade pie is to die for and you should (of course!) get it topped with Blue Bell ice cream!
After a day full of adventure, the best place to unwind is at this homey joint in a renovated grocery store. While it’s a barbecue joint for lunch on Saturday and Sunday, there’s always a special homecooked dinner on Saturday nights — and whether it’s a grilled ribeye or pork chops, it’s always good.
Get out and stretch your legs at Lake Somerville State Park. Dive in the lake to cool off, fish off the dock or take a hike or bike to explore the land.

Texas Bluebonnets and Wildflowers in 4K | Spring 2021 | Brenham & Chappell Hill Texas
Brenham and Chappell Hill, a historical community right in the heart of bluebonnet country, hosts what’s recognized as the Official Bluebonnet Festival of Texas by the Texas Legislature. Its Bluebonnet Festival is normally held on the second weekend in April and is the largest festival in Washington County. The bluebonnets are in full bloom by then, and the festival is full of entertainment for the whole family.
We visited Brenham TX in March 2021 and went to some locations within one day and spotted thousands of acres of bluebonnets and other wildflowers in that area.

Join me on an Ultra HD scenic driving tour from Houston, Texas, USA to Brenham, Texas! We are taking US 290 out of the city, so we are guaranteed to be passing a lot of road construction on the way!
Brenham is a small town located North West of Houston. It is best known for being the home of the Blue Bell Ice Cream company.
It is a weekend, so there will not be that much traffic on our car trip, but there is always some traffic in Houston!
Brenham is located in Washington County, Texas. It is very close to Washington on the Brazos, Texas which is the birthplace of Texas. It is called the birthplace of Texas because it is the location of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence in 1836.
Brenham is well known for being a tourist destination due to having a photogenic historic downtown, the home of an ice cream factory, and lots of wildflowers. During the spring many bluebonnets, the state flower, grow wild in the area. People like to take photographs of themselves squatting in the bluebonnet fields that surround Brenham. Unfortuantely it was too late in the season for bluebonnets to be present at the time of this drive, but it was a nice day anyways.
Brenham is one of the numerous German communities in Texas. There was a large wave of German migration to the area in the mid 19th century. Many people in the Brenham area are of German descent. Some people still speak German or Czech in the home. Many aspects of German culture are still observed and celebrated. This includes a yearly celebration in Brenham called Maifest.
There are many fun things to do in Brenham. It is a popular weekend trip destination for people coming from nearby cities such as Houston, Texas or Austin, Texas. People enjoy spending time in the historic downtown of Brenham getting a bit to eat at local restaurants and walking around seeing the historic sites. People from San Antonio and Dallas also enjoy going to Brenham for the weekend. There are a lot of options for staying at a bed and breakfast in the area or AirBnB if you want to have a nice relaxing weekend in a cute old town.
People like to take pictures in front of the many mural walls, explore small alleys and go to history museums in Brenham, Texas. If you are looking for a chill and relaxing time you might like to visit one of the many wineries and breweries in Brenham, Texas or you might like to go for a walk in the park or on a tour of the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory.
