Boulogne-Billancourt often colloquially called simply Boulogne, until 1924 Boulogne-sur-Seine) is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 8.2 km (5.1 mi) from the centre of Paris. Boulogne-Billancourt is a subprefecture of the Hauts-de-Seine department and the seat of the Arrondissement of Boulogne-Billancourt. With an average household income in 2013 of €47,592, nearly twice the French average of €25,548, Boulogne-Billancourt is one of the wealthiest cities in France.
Boulogne-Billancourt is the most populous suburb of Paris and one of the most densely populated municipalities in Europe. Formerly an important industrial site, it has successfully reconverted into business services and is now home to major communication companies headquartered in the Val de Seine business district.
Before the 14th century, Boulogne was a small village called Menuls-lès-Saint-Cloud (meaning Menuls near Saint-Cloud). In the beginning of the 14th century, King Philip IV of France ordered the building in Menuls-lès-Saint-Cloud of a church dedicated to the virgin of the sanctuary of Boulogne-sur-Mer, then a famous pilgrimage center in northern France. The church, meant to become a pilgrimage centre closer to Paris than the distant city of Boulogne-sur-Mer, was named Notre-Dame de Boulogne la Petite (Our Lady of Boulogne the Minor). Gradually, the village of Menuls-lès-Saint-Cloud became known as Boulogne-la-Petite, and later as Boulogne-sur-Seine.
On 1 January 1860, the city of Paris was enlarged by annexing neighbouring communes. On that occasion, the communes of Auteuil and Passy were disbanded and divided between Boulogne-Billancourt (then called Boulogne-sur-Seine) and the city of Paris. Boulogne-sur-Seine received a small part of the territory of Passy, and about half of the territory of Auteuil (including the area of Billancourt, which belonged to the disbanded commune of Auteuil).
Boulogne-Billancourt is served by two stations on Paris Métro Line 10: Boulogne – Jean Jaurès and Boulogne – Pont de Saint-Cloud. It is also served by three stations on Paris Métro Line 9: Marcel Sembat, Billancourt, and Pont de Sèvres.
The Musée Albert-Kahn at 14, rue du Port, Boulogne-Billancourt is a national museum and includes four hectares of gardens, joining together landscape scenes of various national traditions. The museum also includes historic photographs and film. The Musée des Années Trente is a museum of artistic and industrial objects from the 1930s.

Join us on our trip to Northern France where we visit the lovely cities of Lille, Lens, and Boulogne-sur-Mer!
In Episode 24 of our Eurotrip 2020 series, we explore the city of Lille near the Belgium border. We walk around the city exploring some of the major landmarks including Vieux-Lille and the Grande Place.
The next day we take a day trip from Lille to the smaller town of Lens, to visit Louvre-Lens which includes art pieces from the collections of the Musée du Louvre.
Finally, we finish our time in France with a visit to France's northern coast to the city of Boulogne-sir-Mer. We take it easy with short visits to the neighbouring town of Wimereux and the beautiful Cap Gris-Nez. We based ourselves in the sea-side town of Boulogne-sur-Mer and enjoyed some well deserved relaxation before heading off on our next adventure.

It is a sub-prefecture of the department of Pas-de-Calais. Boulogne lies on the Côte d'Opale, a touristic stretch of French coast on the English Channel between Calais and Normandy, and the most visited location in the region after the Lille conurbation.[3] Boulogne is its department's second-largest city after Calais, and the 183rd-largest in France.[4] It is also the country's largest fishing port, specialising in herring.[5]
Boulogne is an ancient town, and was the major Roman port for trade and communication with its Province of Britain. After a period of Germanic presence following the collapse of the Empire, Boulogne was at the centre of the County of Boulogne of the Kingdom of France during the Middle Ages, and was occupied by the Kingdom of England numerous times due to conflict between the two nations. In 1805 it was a staging area for Napoleon's troops for several months during his planned invasion of the United Kingdom.
The city's 12th-century belfry is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site,[6] while another popular attraction is the marine conservation centre Nausicaa.

begeistert. Dadurch sind wir im Moment eher darauf orientiert
weiter in den Süden zu kommen. zumindest in Regionen wo es
nicht so kalt ist.
Tatsächlich, bestimmen aber Ebbe und Flut, zusammen mit Wetter

man es gerne hätte.

Remparts de Boulogne-sur-Mer en vidéo 360° | Tourisme en France - Côte d'Opale
Les puissants remparts de Boulogne-sur-Mer ont été édifiés entre 1227 et 1231 par le comte Philippe Hurepel, à l'emplacement exact des limites du castrum romain Bolonia.

Construit sur les hauteur de Boulogne-sur-Mer, Philippe Hurepel, fils du roi de France Philippe Auguste (13ème siècle) profite de la situation stratégique face à l’Angleterre pour construire une demeure seigneuriale fortifiée de remparts sur les bases des fortifications de l'époque gallo-romaine.
Les remparts percés de quatre portes forme un quadrilatère qui renferment la vieille ville et ses nombreux monuments historiques (le château, la Basilique Notre Dame , l'hôtel de ville, le beffroi, le Le Palais Impérial - Hôtel Desandrouin, le couvent des annonciades, le palais de justice...).
Le chemin de ronde est un but de promenade idéal. Faire le tour des remparts offre des points de vues sur la basse ville, les parcs et ses jardins au pied des remparts, la mer et la campagne boulonnaise.
La promenade des remparts est ouverte au public :
du 1er avril au 30 septembre de 7h30 à 22h et du 1er octobre au 31 mars de 7h30 à 20h.

Visite de Nausicàa, le plus grand aquarium d'Europe situé à Boulogne sur mer (France).
Un voyage en haute mer magnifique !
Le grand bassin est une reproduction du site de Malpelo, île située au large de la Colombie et où l'on retrouve parmi les plus grandes concentrations de requins marteaux et de raies Manta.
Les bancs de poissons, les raies aigles ou autres requins de récif sont aussi de la partie pour vous faire vivre une véritable plongée en haute mer !

The large basin is a reproduction of the Malpelo site, an island off the coast of Colombia, with some of the highest concentrations of hammerhead sharks and Manta rays.
Fish schools, eagle rays or other reef sharks are also part of the game to make you live a real dive on the high seas!

Nausicaá aquarium in Boulogne sur Mer:
They’re the real stars of the Opal coast. And it’s obvious why… Caps Blanc-Nez and Gris-Nez reveal some absolutely staggering scenery. A unique journey where nature is all that counts. To the south of Calais, Cap Blanc-Nez culminates at a height of 134 metres, it’s the taller of the two.
All around you, nature rules. The lawns are maintained by the flocks of Boulogne sheep, whereas the birds wrangle over the cavities in the chalky wall. A veritable ecological corridor, thousands of migratory birds fly over Cap Blanc-Nez every year.
A little bit to the south, Cap Gris-Nez also plunges you into a wild world. There too, at the top you’ll be lost in wonder at the sight of the view offering itself up to you. At the lighthouse, you are at the closest point to England. Furthermore, it’s here that the officers of the CROSS (Centre régional opérationnel de surveillance et de sauvetage); watch out over the busiest straits in the world. More than 10 million passengers cross here each year. An interpretive trail takes you around the site, revealing its secrets to you.
Wissant: From the summit of Cap Gris-Nez, the former custom’s patrol path takes you from creek to creek. The shoreline fishermen are having a tremendous time. The cliff also shelters animal fossils 150 million years old! Between the Deux Caps, Wissant beach stretches out over more than twelve kilometres.
