???? Bribie Island Queensland ~ Things to do on beautiful Bribie Island

???? Bribie Island Queensland ~ Things to do on beautiful Bribie Island

Bribie Island is located 65 kilometres from Brisbane and is the smallest of the three sand islands in Moreton Bay. It is the only island in Queensland connected to the mainland by a bridge; it's 34 kilometres long and 8 kilometres wide, and the National Park covers one-third of the island.

00:00 Introduction
01:08 Annie Lane Cafe
01:22 Bongaree Beach
02:33 Woorim Beach
03:40 Water Tower Art Woorim Beach
04:10 Bribie Island Butterfly House
05:50 Bribie Island Seaside Museum
06:44 Bribie Island Community Arts Centre

On our visit to Bribie Island, we started the day with coffee at Annie Lane and wandered along Bongaree Beach. We then explored Woorim Beach, saw the water tower art, and visited the Butterfly House. We also checked out the Bribie Seaside Museum and the Community Arts Centre.

A great way to start the day is with coffee at Annie Lane on Toorbul Street. This boutique cafe offers an all-day brunch menu using local produce, with great views over Bongaree Beach.

Bongaree Beach is on the western side of Bribie Island and has calm, shallow waters, making it the perfect place for swimming and water activities. Along the beachfront are shady parklands with grassy areas, barbecues, picnic facilities, and playgrounds. There is also a great selection of cafes, restaurants and other speciality shops.

Woorim Beach is located on the eastern side of Bribie Island and is the closest surf beach north of Brisbane. It is popular with surfers and swimmers alike due to the stunning long stretch of sand and beautiful blue water. There are also cafes, restaurants, picnic shelters and parklands adjacent to Woorim Beach, and the Bribie Island Surf Lifesaving Club patrols the beach.

We admired the Woorim Water Tower, painted by artists Scott Nagy and Mike Shankster to reflect Bribie Islands beach culture.

The Bribie Island Butterfly House is a flower-filled sanctuary where you can walk through hundreds of butterflies flying around you. It is open on Wednesdays and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm; the Butterfly House offers a unique and mesmerising experience for visitors of all ages.

As you wander through the Bribie Island Butterfly House, you can expect to see 50,000 to 100,000 take-offs and landings on a sunny day, as there are 500 – 1,000 butterflies here; they also have a refuelling station.

The Bribie Island Seaside Museum is open daily from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm with free entry. It has immersive and interactive displays about the history and culture of Bribie Island.

The Bribie Island Community Arts Centre has beautiful galleries that showcase local and visiting artists’ paintings, pottery, sculpture, woodwork, fabric, glassware, metal and jewellery. There is also a cafe and gift shop and several short walks along the Bicentennial trail.

Beach Life in Bribie Island - One of Brisbane's Best Day Trips | Australian Travel Guide

Bribie Island is one of the best day trips from Brisbane. In under 2 hours drive from the city, it makes for an easily accessible getaway for those wanting to soak up some sun, salt water and delicious fish and chips.

Today, I took a short trip to Bribie for lunch to check out the beach and get some fresh seafood. I hope this video gives you a quintessential glimpse at what a typical weekend looks like on Australia's coast.

8K BRIBIE ISLAND - Australia's Beautiful Hidden Treasure

Another video in my 8K highlights collection.
A stunning morning twilight & sunrise was captured at Woorim Beach, Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia.
The jetskis & yachts were filmed later on the other side of Bribie Island, near the township of Bongaree, at the entrance to the Pumicestone Passage.

This is a 4K video that has been upscaled using Topaz Video AI, and can be viewed in any resolution up to 8K UHD.

A 4K feature length (3 minutes 42 secs) version is available via this link -

Bribie Island is only an hour's drive north of the city of Brisbane.
It is the smallest and most northerly of three major sand islands forming the coastline sheltering the northern part of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia.
The other islands are Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island.
Bribie Island is 34 kilometres (21 miles) long, and 8 kilometres (5 miles) at its widest.

Bribie Island hugs the coastline and tapers to a long spit at its most northern point near Caloundra, and is separated from the mainland by Pumicestone Passage. The ocean side of the island is somewhat sheltered from prevailing winds by Moreton Island and associated sand banks and has only a small surf break. The lee side is calm, with white sandy beaches in the south.

Most of the island is uninhabited national park (55.8 square kilometres or 21.5 square miles) and forestry plantations. The southern end of the island has been intensively urbanised as part of the Moreton Bay Region, the main suburbs being Bongaree, Woorim, Bellara and Banksia Beach.
A bridge from Sandstone Point on the mainland to Bongaree on Bribie Island was completed in 1963.

Pumicestone Passage is steeped in history, rich in wildlife and natural beauty, and one of the world's most ecologically important waterways.
It is the body of water which separates Bribie Island from mainland Queensland.

Pumicestone Passage stretches for 35 kilometres, from Caloundra in the north to Deception Bay in the south. A marine park with the oldest registered fish habitat in Queensland, it is a narrow, shallow estuary, encompassing a meandering system of channels, sand banks and islands.

The Passage is also recognised as one of the most important bird habitats on the east coast of Australia, and is protected by its inclusion on three international environmental treaties.

A Quick Day Trip to Bribie Island, South East Queensland

Join Out&About with Dayv as I take a quick one day trip up to Bribie Island, South East Queensland, Australia.

Bribie is just over an hour north of Brisbane - and a world away once you’re on the beach.

You don’t need a four wheel drive to get to the island itself (and there’s a bridge) and there’s still beaches to swim at and fish from.

Pumicestone Passage, the calm water on the islands western side offers recreational options for fishing and boating.

Fishing on the eastern side is also good. For surfers though, the island is protected by Moreton Island to the east (across Moreton Bay) and big waves only really roll in with storms and strong winds.

For four-wheel drivers wanting a great drive with easy access to the beach, Bribie is a great spot. At low tide, beach access and egress is a breeze (

If travelling at high tide, access to, or from, the northern end of the island is via the inland track (

For beach access and camping enquires, check out

Enjoy, good luck fishing and bring your rubbish back.

Bundaberg Road Trip | Traveling To Bundaberg, Queensland

As the worst of the summer heat wore off, we decided to drive, hike and sail our way to Bundaberg, discovering epic mountains, unreal marine life, random towns and a whole lotta fun. We did this road trip to Bundaberg over 4 days. If you'd like to travel to Bundaberg, I recommend 3-5 days which will be sufficient. Beware: traveling to Bundaberg in Spring will still be HOT!

Travelling to Bundaberg is easy. It's ~4.5 hours drive North of Brisbane, with a lot of stops along the way where you can refuel, grab something to eat, or explore as you make your way to Bundaberg, Queensland.

Our first stop was Mount Walsh National Park. Mount Walsh makes for a great hike on the way up to Bundaberg. Afterwards, we stopped at the nearby town of Biggenden for a break, before pushing onto Bundaberg.

The next morning we went snorkeling at Coral Cove near Bargara, before settling in at Elliot Heads. The next day, we had an epic sailing trip as the river mouth filled up with warm turquoise water, and ended our trip with a tour of the famous Bundaberg Rum Distillery.
