In this video we explore the entire Samuel H Boardman Scenic Corridor in one day. This state park contains some of Oregons best and most preserved beaches. TOP 10 PLACES TO VISIT ON THE OREGON COAST - 4K TRAVEL GUIDE

I grew up on The Oregon Coast north of Cannon Beach and south of Astoria in one of the best beach towsn of Seaside, Oregon, and its easily one of my favorite places in the whole world and is home to some of the most dramatic and beautiful coasts on earth from the giant sand dunes to the offshore rock stacks - it has it all. Since I grew up in Seaside and Cannon Beach (northern), I figured I would make this travel guide for exploring the Oregon Coast is very special to me. The Oregon Coast is part of the 7 wonders of Oregon, and even though I am biased, I think it's the best one ;) I've driven every mile of HWY 101 from California to Washington and I wish that I had explored more of every beach, rock stack hike along the Whole coastline, but I will travel Oregon for the rest of my life. There are many places to visit along the Oregon Coast, but so much conflicting information. This travel guide in 4K is an overview of my top 10 Places & Cities to visit along the whole Oregon Coast.

MOST Scenic Part of the Oregon Coast | Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor

We have spent the past few days driving down the 363 miles of the beautiful Oregon Coastline. We definitely saved the best for last with the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor in Southern Oregon.

This is a 12 mile, linear park that really just encompasses a thin strip of land between the ocean and highway 101. While it might be a small park, it is one of the most scenic stretches of the Oregon Coast — it has rugged coastline, natural arches, sea stacks, cliffs, coves and small secluded beaches.

Along the 12 miles of the highway within the park there are many viewpoints and hiking trails we explore! Some of these locations are marked by signs along the road, others have a smaller notice beside a pullout, while the remainder are undesignated.

We get started at the Arch Rock Viewpoint on the North end of the park. This is the easiest viewed natural arch in the scenic corridor and there is a short path that leads to a couple of overlooks.

Next up we head to Natural Bridges — There are seven natural formed bridges and arched rocks with trees growing on their tops making this small cove one of the most iconic views in the corridor. There is a wooden viewing platform located just to the left of the parking lot that we check out first. It is a nice view but we also head down the very steep trail to the right of the parking lot to get closer to the rock formations.

The path is short but really steep with loose dirt and rocks so we take things slow making our way down. We enjoy the views of the rock formations and watch as the waves crash through the arches and wash up on the sandy shore below.

From Natural Bridges we drive over the Thomas Creek Bridge which is actually the tallest bridge in Oregon at 345 feet. We stop at Indian Sands which is a short 1.1 mile hike. We start out in the trees but drop quickly to a treeless sandstone plateau with sand dunes and erosive formations. The hike is short and quick but offers stunning coastal views!

Next up is Cape Ferrelo which is another short 1 mile trail that offers breathtaking views of the coast!

We finally end the day at Secret Beach for sunset. This is actually an unmarked stop on the road just north of Miller Creek. We take the short hike down to the beach which we have all to ourselves! We walk around and explore a bit before enjoying the sunset — and it really is the perfect way to end our day!

Top 10 Places to Visit on The Oregon Coast! A locals perspective!

ULTIMATE TOUR OF THE OREGON COAST: HWY 101 FROM ASTORIA TO BROOKINGS. LOCALS FAVORITE STOPS! Hello everyone and welcome to another adventure. In this video Kim and I travel the entire Oregon Coast from Astoria Oregon in the North all the way to Brookings, Oregon in the South. As locals we have been traveling to the Oregon Coast for years. We are going to take you to some of the most scenic areas of the Coast you may not have known existed.

Thoughts fade away along this wind-swept shoreline, home to soaring sand dunes, pristine state parks and bustling harbors.

It doesn't get much more coastal than this region. And thanks to a pioneering beach bill, all 363 miles of Oregon's coastline remain free and public. That means endless opportunities to comb for agates or glass floats, catch your own Dungeness crab or razor clam, watch for whales, seals and puffins, make footprints in the sand or simply be captivated by a winter storm from inside a cozy beachfront lodge. No matter the season, the Oregon Coast is a rejuvenating getaway.

Things are different on the Southern Oregon Coast.

Wild and scenic rivers are rowdier, beaches are less crowded and trails offer more rugged terrain. If you're looking for crowds, the Southern Oregon Coast is not for you. But if outdoor adventures, secluded beaches, artistic communities and fresh coastal cuisine light your fire, the Southern Oregon Coast is your next destination.

SAMUEL H. BOARDMAN STATE SCENIC CORRIDOR

This corridor is a 12-mile, forested linear park with a rugged, steep coastline interrupted by small sand beaches. This park was named in honor of Samuel H. Boardman, the first Oregon Parks superintendent. He and others of his generation felt this shining coastline should be saved for the public. What gems they gave us: admire the 300-year old sitka spruce trees, gaze at the amazing Arch Rock and Natural Bridges, and walk the 27 miles of Oregon Coast Trail that weave through the giant forests.

Seaside prairies, spectacular vistas, secluded cove beaches, rugged cliffs and forested sea stacks come one after the other throughout this park. Stand and ponder the old shell middens and wonder what it was like to live in a Native American village by the Pacific Ocean.

WALDPORT, YACHATS AND SEAL ROCK
Not everyone knows about this enchanting stretch of the Oregon Coast. And that's probably a good thing.

Here you have plenty of room to explore, whether that means hiking, biking or paddling - along rocky shorelines and long, sandy beaches; bays, rivers and estuaries; coastal mountains and temperate old-growth rainforest. Trails range from wheelchair-accessible to difficult, so every family member can get outdoors. Surrounded by nature, each community has its own distinct character. Discover a variety of amenities in these friendly villages: fishing and crabbing; shops, art galleries and restaurants; campgrounds, cottages and luxury lodges. At Yachats, Waldport and Seal Rock, it's all up to you.

IF YOU TRAVELING TO SAMUEL H BOARDMAN STATE PARK, YOU MUST VISIT THE SECRET BEACH

I found a secret beach in Oregon at Samuel H Boardman State Park! The beach is not hard to find, but you would never know it was there unless you were looking for it. In this video, I visit Secret Beach and highlight some of its natural beauty. When you come to visit, make sure you go during low tide so you can actually go down onto the beach. It was high tide when I went and unfortunately the beach was not accessible.

Secret Beach is just one of the many beautiful places along the Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor. You could easily spend more than two days exploring the area. I personally spent about 4 hours just exploring Secret Beach. And to top it off, I plan to go back during low tide so I can explore the parts I didn’t see the last time I was there. I hope you like the video. Let me know in the comment section what you thought.

Also, if you would like to support my channel, please consider buying one of my scratch off maps. It’s the perfect way to commemorate all the wonderful places, that you visited, in this world. The link is listed below.

WHEN TRAVELING TO SAMUEL H BOARDMAN STATE PARK, YOU MUCH CHECK OUT THE NATURAL BRIDGES

Samuel H Boardman State Park is an amazing stretch of coast littered with beauty everywhere. The Natural Bridges in Oregon is no doubt one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Purchase a scratch off map:

It resides in the Samuel H Boardman State Park and you will be awestruck when you see it with your own eyes. This place is worth making a visit even if you aren’t too much of a hiking buff. The Natural Bridges Oregon hike is not too strenuous. You could easily hike down the Natural Bridges and back in an hour to an hour and a half.

The best part that there is so much to see in this area. After you visit the Natural Bridges, you can also visit Secret Beach and Arch Rock. It’s amazing how scenic the southern Oregon coast is. And if you plan to overnight, the nearest town is Brookings, Oregon.

Top 10 Beaches in the southern Oregon coast! according to me...

The top 10 most beautiful beaches in the southern Oregon Coast, from a photographers perspective!

If you would like to buy me a coffee, this is the link: buymeacoffee.com/wollertz

After spending a few weeks in the southern Oregon coast and making weekly videos about different parks and destinations I've decided to create a Top 10 video, some of these beaches have independent travel videos on my Oregon Coast playlist other beaches I wanted to make the full videos but I ran out of time. So Here they are!

As a photographer I not only appreciate beaches for their esthetic beauty but also for the feeling and emotion it brings to me, the tranquility of walking a long desolate sandy beach, or the convenience of walking across the street for a bite to eat. It is all extremely important, and I understand the importance of information when someone is traveling to an unknown or new destination.

The Right Way to Visit Natural Bridges

Natural Bridges is a popular viewpoint on the Oregon Coast. It is part of the Samuel Boardman Scenic Corridor. The bridges are products of coastal erosion and make for great photography. There is also a lot of danger to this spot. Many people have fallen while trying to get a better view on the cliffside trails.

Samuel H Boardman State Scenic Corridor

Recorded June 11, 2019

Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor is a linear state park in southwestern Oregon. It is 12 miles long and thickly forested along steep and rugged coastline with a few small sand beaches. It is named in honor of Samuel H. Boardman, the first Oregon Parks superintendent.

In this video I visit Cape Ferrelo Viewpoint, House Rock Viewpoint, Whaleshead Viewpoint, Natural Bridges and Windy Point/Arch Rock Viewpoint.

This video is a segment from my larger Oregon Coast video found @
