DAY TRIP TO COLMAR FRANCE - Alsace Region Travel Guide
Alsace's Most Enchanting City is the town of Colmar! Take a walk through Colmar, France with Jaycation and discover it's beauty!
From Germany we take a roadtrip to the northeast region of France to the Grand Est Region where Colmar resides. We visit the Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet near the German-French border and road trip through Bitche and Strasbourg France until we get the the Alsace Region to the enchanting village of Colmar.
We roam the enchanting streets and discover the small canal of Le Petit Colmar and eat at the Marché couvert Colmar, the Covered Market of Colmar for some of the regions White Reisling Wine and the local beer Meteor Beer! We also try some Tarte Flambee, the Alsatian version of pizza along with a vanilla eclair, strawberry tarte and a black forest cake. After some lunch we walk around the beautiful le petit venice and try some of the regions best macarons!

Saint-Nicolas du Chardonnet is a Catholic church in the centre of Paris, France, in the 5th arrondissement. It was constructed between 1656 and 1763. The façade was designed in the classical style by Charles Le Brun. It contains many notable art works from the 19th century, including a rare religious painting by Jean-Baptiste Corot.

En 1776, la chapelle de la cristallerie a été édifiée à Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche. Vite devenue trop exiguë, il a été décidé d'ériger une église plus imposante et plus prestigieuse, une église de style néo-roman. En 1897, pour mener à bien la construction de cet édifice, le village a fait appel à Charles Winkler, un architecte de renom, également conservateur des Monuments Historiques d'Alsace.

Fort Simserhof - WW2 Bunker van Maginot linie - Bitche - Frankrijk (Bunker complex - 2022)

Je kan me een koffie aanbieden:
Ouvrage Simserhof is een van de grote vestingwerken (gros ouvrage) van de Maginotlinie. Het bevindt zich op ongeveer 4 kilometer ten westen van Bitche in het departement Moezel bij het dorp Siersthal. Het ouvrage maakt deel uit van de verdedigingssector van Rohrbach.
Het fort is vernoemd naar een boerderij die stond op de plaats van het huidige fort. Het is het op drie na grootste fort van de Maginotlinie. De bouw duurde bijna 10 jaar, van 1929 tot en met 1938. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog was het fort gemobiliseerd en verbleven zo’n 800 man in het fort. In juni 1940 werden zo’n 13.000 granaten vanuit het fort afgevuurd. Na de val van Frankrijk werd het fort in gebruik genomen door de Duitse leger. De meeste Franse troepen werden opgesloten als krijgsgevangenen, maar een beperkt aantal bleef op het fort achter voor de bediening en onderhoud van de apparatuur. De Duitsers gebruikten het fort voor de opslag van munitie.
In november 1944 werd het fort door Amerikaanse troepen veroverd. Dit was aanvankelijk van korte duur, want tijdens operatie Nordwind viel het fort weer in Duitse handen. Na de definitieve verovering in maart 1945 kwam het fort weer in handen van het Franse leger. Veel oorlogsschade werd hersteld en in de jaren zestig waren er al plannen om van het fort een museum te maken.
Het fort is opengesteld voor het publiek. Er worden rondleidingen georganiseerd in het deel van de munitieopslag en de verblijven voor het personeel, waaronder ook de operatiekamer en keukens, en de technische ruimten met machines voor de opwekking van elektriciteit.

Endlich war das Wetter wieder besser und ich konnte mich auch schon besser mit den Krücken fortbewegen. Deshalb haben wir im Teil 10 einen Ausflug in den Nachbarort Granville gemacht, dort Mittag gegessen und die Aussicht vom Cap Lihou genossen.
Danach sind wir in südlicher Richtung die Küste entlang gefahren um uns den Mont-Saint-Michel schon mal aus der Entfernung anzugucken.
Zum Abschluss des Tages gab es dann noch ein Crêpe vom Stand am Dorfplatz in Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, wo wir die Ferienwohnung gemietet hatten.
