How do people live in Birobidzhan, Russia? Russian Tel Aviv
In 1928, the Soviet government announced the creation of a Jewish region specifically for Jewish workers. The goal was to give Soviet Jews territory in the Russian Far East, thereby attracting Jewish workers from all over the world here, who would build a bright communist future here.
Today Birobidzhan is home to about 4-5% of Jews. The rest of the Jews at different times left for Israel or other cities of Russia.
About Birobidzhan they say the failed Tel Aviv.
Today Birobidzhan is a city of pensioners, single mothers and disabled children.
What do the people say about the city?
“This is a region for punishment and exile. The leadership positions of the local city government are inherited. Information about harmful emissions of radon is hidden. Lots of oncology. The forests are being cut down.”
The living conditions of Birobidzhan almost do not complain, because there is nothing to compare with.

Khabarovsk is a city on the Amur River in southeastern Russia. On its waterfront is Muravyov-Amursky Park, with a towering bronze statue of a former governor. Khabarovsk Regional Museum houses an extensive collection of natural history items, including precious stones.
Near the park’s south, the rebuilt 19th-century Cathedral of the Assumption, with soaring white-and-blue towers, is on popular Komsomolskaya Square.

Okay, now onto the description of the video... Riding on the Trans-Siberian Train has been a bucket list adventure for me for as long as I can remember (8 years?). The train starts in Moscow and then travels 10,000 kilometers Eastbound across Siberia until it ends in Vladivostok. I was lucky enough to catch Trans-Siberian train for a 30-hour leg – from Irkutsk to Novosibirsk – and it was one of the wildest travel experiences of my life. Even in the middle of winter, where temperatures were around -30C, I couldn’t believe how scenic the views were out the window. It felt like a dream!
On the Trans-Siberian train, I met two incredible characters – Gregory (the train conductor) and Sacha (the drunk passenger) who I shared the entire experience with. I will never forget this train ride. It was the journey of a lifetime, and I can’t wait to (hopefully) finish the rest of the adventure someday soon. Siberia is truly a remarkable place.
