-Birendranagar is one of Nepal's few cities built under a master plan. Popularly known as Gateway to karnali, visitors can find thousand of hotel and restaurant which is increasing in trend. Rara (biggest lake of Nepal), Shey phoksundo lake, five religious sites inside Dailekh, Kubinde lake ( Salyan) and several picturesque terrains can be taken into account through roadway Ratna Highway (named after Queen Ratna Rajya laxmi devi Shah) and Jumla Highway. Surkhet is open to Tourist connecting way to Kailash Mansarowar Tibet through Flights and helicopter charter from Nepalgunj or roadway Surkhet. Shortest fasttrack of Nepal that connects Chinese and Indian border is under construction.

RARA Lake in autumn + Murma, Surkhet Valley, Kakrebihar and peripheries- West Nepal Travel
Well, here we are with Rara Lake again. This time around though, things are a bit different. We took a different route, from Surkhet. On our way, we visited the archeological site of Kakrebihar, a 12th century Temple, enjoyed the view of Surkhet Valley from Batase Dada, visited Bulbule Taal and spent a few good days in Birendranagar.
Thanks to Kshitiz Budha, one of our local friends from Mugu, we visited the beautiful Murma village and had some intricate interactions with the locals and their daily chores.
If you planning a travel to Nepal, Rara lake is one of the must visit places in Nepal. And if you ever visit Rara, we urge you to visit Murma village too.

It had 288,527 population in 2001 and 350,804 in 2011 which male comprised 169,461 and female 181,381. Its district headquarters, Birendranagar, is the capital of Karnali Province.[1] It is serving as a business hub and document center for Karnali province. According to population, development, road links, landforms, climate, many peoples are migrating here. after becoming province capital developmental activities are boosted and are in peak level. all the governmental works are carried here. Birendranagar is beautiful valley surrounded by hills having moderate climate.
Birendranagar वीरेन्द्रनगर officially Birendranagar Municipality is a city in Surkhet District in Karnali Province of Nepal. It is the District headquarter of Surkhet District and also the Capital city of Karnali province. As of March 2022, Birendranagar has a population of 154,886 making it the 17th largest city of Nepal. It is the largest city of karnali province and 7th largest in Western Nepal. It is one of the fastest growing cities of Nepal. Birendranagar is the destination of two national highways i.e Ratna Highway and Karnali Highway. It is one of the constituent city of Ratna Highway Metropolitan Areas along with Nepalgunj and Kohalpur. Birendranagar is compromise of beautiful panoramic view of Mahabharata and chure ranges and the plain of inner terai . Birendranagar is a major trade center in mid-western Nepal and is considered as the most expensive city to live in Nepal.
In February 2018, the city was made the capital of the province of Karnali. At the 2011 census the city's population was 100,458 in 12,029 households. This city is located in the Surkhet Valley at the northern Bank of Bheri River which separates it from Bheriganga municipality. Birendranagar is named in honour of the late King Birendra, who planned and established it as the first planned town in Nepal.
Birendranagar is located in a valley and surrounded by hills. The Birendranagar municipality includes village development committee are Uttarganga, Latikoili.

Baraha Dada is located at Bheriganga, Chinchu, Surkhet. It takes about 1 hour to reach here on motorcycle from birendranagar. You can witness beautiful village vibes along the way. There are five different temples and a view tower to witness an amazing scenery of Bheriganga Nagarpalika. Not only this, there is a lake at the center of jungle with a island on it and another hill station just above it to witness the astonishing beauty at a different angle. This place is the best nearby destination to go with your friends and family.
