The Château de Pau (English: Pau Castle) is a castle in the centre of the city of Pau, the capital of Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Béarn. It dominates that quarter of the city. Henry IV of France and Navarre was born here on December 13, 1553 and it was once used by Napoleon as a holiday home during his period of power. The château has been classified as a Monument historique since 1840 by the French Ministry of Culture. Nowadays it contains a collection of tapestries.
Pau Castle was founded in the Middle Ages. Work before any military, is a castle typically built on top of the hill overlooking the Gave bounded by ravine Hédas. Since its construction, the castle takes on a symbolic importance: providing a stockade (poor, in Bearn) designate, by metonymy, the city itself. These piles, symbolizing loyalty and righteousness, are each asaxis mundiin a version of béarnaise. In the twelfth century Gaston IV of Béarn built three towers at the fortress. They are called Mazères Billère and Montauser.
The fourteenth century will see a figure emblematic of Bearn, who leaves his mark at the Chateau de Pau: Gaston III of Foix-Béarn, better known as the Gaston Phoebus. This warlord, in a difficult position because, by their possessions, under the leadership of the enemy kingdoms of France and England, makes the Beam, gift of God, a united and autonomous region. Fébus there built the tower of brick, high thirty-three meters, and it burns the inscription: Febus me (Phoebus gave me, in Bearn).
During the Renaissance, installation of the court of Navarre in 1512, significantly altered the appearance of the castle. Originally a fortress, it now became a pleasure residence. Henri d'Albret resided with his wife Marguerite d'Angoulême, sister of François I, best known as Marguerite de Navarre, author of The'Heptaméron. They mark the place with their initials, still present on the walls and ceilings, and great care was taken to maintain and reproduce them even over the subsequent restorations.
But their grand-son who gives the famous castle it is today: not by any architectural endeavor, nor even by his own will. The future Henri IV takes the trouble to be born December 13, 1553, and the story did the rest. The fame of the king, baby boy cradled in a turtle shell preserved by the Béarn through the vicissitudes of revolutions, gives the castle, which did not see him grow up or die, a particular taste, and the right to claim honors those who give birth supermen. But the real recognition of the king is posthumous, and we soon forgot the castle that he was born, except to gather Navarre and Bearn in the kingdom of France (Louis XIII signed the treaty in 1620).

Bienvenue à Sarrebourg. Voici est une ville Allemande qui se trouve dans l'ouest de l'Allemagne proche de Trêves. J'ai découvert cette ville à hasard en rentrant de la ville de Trèves pour retourné à Thionville dans la Moselle.
On trouve aussi une ville Sarrebourg en France dans le département de la Moselle en amont de la rivière Sarre qui donne le nom de cette ville qui est en même temps jumelée avec cette ville Allemande.
C'est une petite ville très charmante style médiévale, fief des comtes puis ducs de Luxembourg.

Lourdes is a town in southwestern France where spiritual energy flows through the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains. This is where the Virgin Mary appeared 18 times to a 14-year-old peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirus. To date, there have been 70 confirmed miracles at Lourdes since the first apparition in 1858.
Marie Bernadette Soubirous was the eldest daughter of nine children of François Soubirous, a miller, and Louise, a laundress. Due to frequent illness Bernadette very little French and she could read and write very little and speak only the local language. The Soubirous family's financial and social status had declined to the point where they lived in a one-room basement formerly used as a jail.
On 11 February 1858, 14 year old Bernadette was out gathering firewood with friends she experienced her first vision. She heard the sound of rushing wind and a wild rose in the grotto moved and came a dazzling light, and a white figure. She referred it as aquerò . On 14 February, Bernadette she saw the apparition again at the same place. Bernadette knelt down immediately, saying . On her next visit, 18 February, Bernadette said that the vision asked her to return to the grotto every day for a fortnight. On 25 February in the 9th apparition, she explained that the vision had told her to drink of the water of the spring and to eat the herb that grew there as an act of penance. To everyone's surprise, the next day the grotto was no longer muddy but clear water flowed. On 2 March, at the thirteenth of the apparitions, Bernadette told her family that the lady said that a chapel should be built and a procession formed. Bernadette 's 16th claimed vision was on 25 March. According to her account, she again asked the woman for her name but the lady just smiled back. She repeated the question three more times and finally heard the lady say, I am the Immaculate Conception. She had the 18th and final appearance on 16th July. On that day Bernadette knelt outside the fence by the riverbank. She said that she saw the lady and she was more beautiful than ever.
After that Bernadette did not feel any desire to visit the grotto afterwards. Disliking the attention she was attracting, Bernadette went to Sisters of Charity of Nevers and became a nun.The Mother Superior at the time gave her the name Marie-Bernarde . She eventually died of her long-term illness at the age of 35 on 16 April 1879 while praying the holy rosary.
The Catholic Church exhumed the body of Sister Bernarde three times in 1909,1919 and 1925. They claimed that although the crucifix in her hand and her rosary had both oxidized, her body appeared without decomposition. The remains were then placed in a gold and crystal reliquary in the Chapel of Saint Bernadette at the motherhouse in Nevers. After investigation, Catholic Church authorities confirmed the authenticity of the apparitions in 1862. Bernadette was declared blessed on 14 June 1921 by Pope Pius XI. She was canonized by Pius XI on 8 December 1933.
Bernadette 's request to the local priest to build a chapel at the site of her visions made a number of chapels and churches to raise at Lourdes. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes is now one of the major Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world. The Sanctuary area covers 53 hectares and has 22 places of worship including three Basilicas. Approximately 10,000 masses are celebrated there each year. The Lourdes grotto is a replica of the grotto where the apparitions occurred in 1858. The Grotto of the Lady of Lourdes is constructed in the same way throught the world. Since the 9th apparition , a spring has been flowing in the cave. This water is channelled into a reservoir under the basilicas. Pilgrims can drink the water and they can also collect it from taps .

Les villas de villégiature à Pau
Vous êtes dans un quartier de villas construites à l’époque où Pau était un lieu de villégiature très prisé. Claude Laroche, chercheur au service patrimoine et inventaire de la Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine, nous présente les caractéristiques principales de ces résidences de luxe et quelques exemples parmi les plus grandes villas paloises.
Ces grandes villas vont s'organiser autour de grands parcs et aussi sur des programmes d'habitation très développés, avec des lieux de réception qui vont souvent se retrouver au rez-de-chaussée - rez-de-chaussées souvent surélevés parce qu'on a encore à cette époque-là des cuisines en sous-sol, avec des systèmes de monte-plats et d'office - et bien sûr les chambres aux étages.
La notion de vue est extrêmement importante pour ces villas à cette époque-là.
La Villa St Basile construite dans les années 1880, transformée en suivant dans les années 30 à peu près, qui va lui donner l'aspect qu'on lui connaît maintenant, et notamment ce très très beau décor du salon fait par le peintre René Marie Castaing en 1935.
La Villa Sorrento qui est un peu plus loin, est une des plus spectaculaires et se fait en gros en deux étapes. Une première étape en 1884, un premier module, auquel après on fait toute l'extension, la surélévation, la colonnade et la rotonde qui vont donner à cette villa Sorrento, dans les années 1903 à peu près, son aspect aussi spectaculaire.
La Villa Biatrix, là on est à la limite de Pau et de Billère.
Ces villas suivent les modes du moment, les expressions du moment, ce sont des choses souvent très savante avec des architectes de grand renom, soit national soit local.
Toutes ces grandes villas que j'ai citées ont souvent des commanditaires parisiens ou locaux, ou de grands notables locaux, très rarement des anglais.
En fait les Anglais louent ou achètent plus tard des villas qui n'ont pas été faites pour eux. Donc il faut un petit peu relativiser cette notion de « villa anglaise ».
Il y a un deuxième temps qui commence en gros au début du 20e siècle. Ce sont des villas qui sont tout à fait rattachées est-ce qu'on peut voir dans d'autres villes : une commande qui est souvent de gens locaux, qui veulent avoir un petit peu plus d'espace qu'au centre-ville, avec une clientèle qui ne sera plus la clientèle de grandes têtes couronnées ou de grands de ce monde, mais des professeurs d'université, des médecins, etc. C'est une autre phase de la villa à Pau.

Coucou les loulous, aujourd'hui on se retrouve pour un vlog Bali : Seminyak, KYND Community et cerfs volants !!! ! Nous venons de quitter la France pour l'Indonésie.
