BIG BEAR LAKE CALIFORNIA ???? | BEFORE YOU GO | SUMMER ???? EDITION | HISTORY, TIPS & THINGS TO DO

In this video, we're gonna check out Big Bear Lake California. These are tips on how you can enjoy your Big Bear Lake trip during your summer vacation.

Big Bear Lake is known for snow ski and winter shenanigans but people visit Big Bear Lake during summer too and they get to enjoy the lake during this season.

Roughly around 1845, Mr Benjamin Wilson was tasked to look for outlaws in Baldwin Lake. Instead of finding outlaws, he found grizzly bears. He said, it's just fitting to call it Big Bear Lake.

Another explorer, Mr Holcomb, was hunting for Grizzly Bear and found some gold instead. During the gold rush in 1860s, families have moved here and worked for mining companies.

Today, Big Bear Lake is one of the best places you can go for adventure and easy vacations. It is only two and half hour drive from Los Angeles through San Bernardino Forest. This is a scenic drive and a breath of fresh air.

Here are the things to do in Big Bear Lake during summer:

Enjoy the lake
In Big Bear Lake, you can do swimming, boating, kayaking and other water sports activities. One of the most fun things we did was the paddlewheel tour/cruise. For this, we used Ms Liberty cruise company in Big Bear. The sunset is a good time for this as it is not too hot.

The Village
The center of food and shopping in Big Bear Lake is called The Village. It has restaurants, shops and hotels for tourists. The place is good to walk, bike or jog around. You can also bring your furry kids here. The place is dog friendly.

Farmer's Market
Every Tuesday from 8am to 1pm. Big Bear Lake hosts a farmer's market at the Convention Center. Beside it is Wally's Saloon, a good American restaurant.

Stanfield Marsh Boardwalk
If you want to walk with nature in peace and with a lakeview. This is a good place to visit.

Big Bear Valley Museum
Big Bear's history is fun to know. To experience it is awesome. Check this outdorr museum to see Big Bear lake in the late 1800s to early 1900s

Boulder Bay
Boulder Bay is the best spot for swimming during summer. some people get to jump off the cliff which is fun.

Big Bear Mining Company
This is a tourist store for mining rocks and gold. They also have activities like looking for gold. Outside is a a cemetery, saloon and courthouse in the 1900s. They made some jokes in it. Be sure to read it.

The Village or Pine Knot Village is the commercial area of Big Bear lake. Located at Village Drive and Pike Knot Avenue, the Village is shopping, dining and entertainment center of Big Bear Lake.

Need a place where to stay in Big Bear? ????

Big Bear is also less crowded in the fall and snow hasn’t yet started to fall. This is the perfect time to enjoy all Big Bear has to offer!

Here’s a short list of my favorite autumn activities in Big Bear.

Big Bear Lake Travel Guide | California Travel Tips

California travel expert Veronica Hill tours Big Bear Lake and Big Bear City in this episode of California Travel Tips.

This Big Bear Lake Travel Guide highlights Big Bear hotels and Big Bear restaurants like Sweet Basil Bistro and Evergreen restaurant and Big Bear activities including the Pirate Ship tour, which takes you on a 1 1/2 hour tour around the lake, passing the Big Bear house of cartoonist Mike Judge, historic Big Bear cabins near Garstin Island, and the Big Bear lodge used in the movie War Games.

At the Big Bear Discovery Center, you can go gold panning, join a kayak or canoe tour, or hike the Pacific Crest Trail. Alpine Slide Big Bear offers cool bobsled rides, miniature golf and go-kart racing. And at the Snow Summit Big Bear Sky Chair, you can ride a ski lift 8,200 feet to the top for a scenic picnic or mountain bike ride down Big Bear mountain. Pedestrians can take the chair round-trip, or also hike down the trails. The Big Bear restaurant, View Haus, offers barbecue-style dishes during the summer.

After a long day on the mountain, rest your tired bones at the Big Bear spa, Elevations, which offers massages, facials, body scrubs and other spa services.

Big Bear weather averages about 300 days of sunshine per year, though you should bring a light jacket, even in the summer. At higher elevations, it can still get chilly. During the winter, Big Bear snow can come unexpectedly, so always be prepared with snow chains and four-wheel drive if possible. The narrow roads to Big Bear resort can be quite dangerous during inclement weather.

Big Bear cabin rentals are available year-round, or if you prefer there are some beautiful Big Bear bed and breakfasts, such as the Windy Point Inn and Inn at Fawnskin.

Road Trip from Los Angeles to Big Bear Lake Ski Resort, full Circle around the Lake and Village - 4K

Rod trip. Driving from Los Angeles to Big Bear Lake Ski Resort, full Circle around the Lake and Village - 4K

This drive takes you from Los Angeles to the San Bernardino national forest, where you will see the Big Bear Lake and the village in the city of big bear lake.
on the way up to the mountns, you will see some small towns, that located in the mountains

Big Bear Lake is a small city in San Bernardino County, California, located in the San Bernardino Mountains along the south shore of Big Bear Lake, and surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest.

The city is located about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of the city of San Bernardino, and immediately west of the unincorporated town of Big Bear City.

The population was approximately 5,019 at the 2010 census, down from 5,438 at the 2000 census.

However, since it is a popular year-round resort destination, the actual number of people staying in or visiting the greater Big Bear Valley area regularly surges to over 100,000 during many weekends of the year.

Big Bear Lake is Southern California's largest recreation lake. It is about seven miles long and about one mile at its widest. The primary summer attraction in Big Bear was fishing and it still is one of the most common activities there.

The most abundant types of fish are trout, bass and catfish.

Hiking, mountain biking and horse riding are also very popular.

San Bernardino National Forest offers many trails in varying degrees of difficulty.

During winter season Big Bear Lake becomes a skiing and snowboarding destination for Southern California.

There are two ski resorts: Snow Summit and Bear Mountain.

The town is also home to the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival, in operation since 1999.

Transportation

Local bus service is provided by Mountain Transit, formerly known as Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority (MARTA).

Mountain Transit provides services on a fixed route in the Big Bear Valley and from downtown San Bernardino to Big Bear Lake.

The Big Bear Valley is accessible by four California state highways: SR 18 from Highland, SR 330 (also from Highland), SR 38 from Redlands, and SR 18 from Victorville.

Big Bear Lake is a reservoir in the San Bernardino Mountains, in San Bernardino County, California, United States.

It is a completely snow-fed lake, having no other means of tributaries or mechanical replenishment.

At a surface elevation of 6,743 ft (2,055 m), it has an east-west length of approximately 7 mi (11 km) and is approximately 2.5 mi (4.0 km) at its widest measurement, though the lake's width mostly averages a little more than 1⁄2 mi (0.8 km).

These approximations are based on the lake having an optimum retainable water level.

At dam's end Big Bear measures its deepest water at 72 ft (22 m).
