Brighton Day Trip from London: Is it Worth it? ???????????????????????????? What to Do in Brighton in One Day ????????????????????????????

Planning a Brighton day trip from London and want to know if it's worth it or not? Just watch my video to find out ;)
I will also feature how to get from London to Brighton by train, what to do in Brighton in one day, and costs.
In this video, there's all the information you need to plan your trip.
I took a trip from London to Brighton on a very sunny and hot day and went exploring the best attractions in the city.
There are many interesting things to do in Brighton than just lying on the beach.
You can visit the Royal Pavilion, a masterpiece of architecture, the British Airways i360, a tower viewing platform and an enclosed glass pod, Brighton Palace Pier, one of the most impressive piers in the UK, Brunswick Square, and more.
If you're visiting Brighton for the day during the summer months, the highlight, of course, will be Brighton Beach, a pebble beach with crystalline green water and excellent infrastructure.
After watching it, let me know in the comments below what are your favourite things to do in Brighton and also if you think that it's worth taking a Brighton day trip from London or not.

Here is the post on my site with more detailed information:

Top 5 Reasons NOT to Move to Sheffield

The reasons you should know moving to sheffield and why living in Hillsborough & steel city will make your life worse.
Sheffield is located in the south of Yorkshire, and this county is one the finest in England for being cold, rainy and damp. the south side is the scary part of Yorkshire, the east side of Yorkshire is one of the best, and west side is okay. The only thing good going for them is the peak district.

Brighton in the 70's | East Sussex | 1979

The East Sussex seaside resort of Brighton filmed in 1979. Favorite haunt or The prince Regent the brain child behind the Royal Pavilion which he used a Royal Retreat.
The city was a day trippers paradise, with two piers and a small railway that went along the seafront.

Disused Railway Explore - Barlborough - LD&ECR Beighton Branch

Disused Railway Explore - LD&ECR Barlborough - Beighton Branch

We explore the disused LDECR (Lancashire, Derbyshire & East Coast Railway) Beighton Branch between the M1 motorway at Barlborough and Sheffield Road at Renishaw, Derbyshire.

A short section that is a little off the beaten path, with minimal footpaths on the trackbeds compared to other sectoins of the line.

We look at a few old bridges and an old platelayers hut left for nature to take over.

The LD&ECR Beighton Branch closed in sections, with this section closing in 1967.

As well as the old LDECR, we also can see remains of the Cottam colliery and Hazels Brickworks nearby, which had links to the main line. Remains of the old engine house can be found in a field close to the line.

AULT HUCKNALL: Bolsover Parish #10 of 16

Welcome to one of rural England's most charming chunks of land. This one has more than a few bits to tell us about life in the heart of Derbyshire, about how life was in Elizabethan times, and how life was for the rich and the powerful. In this case, the woman with the power was the second richest person in the UK behind Queen Elizabeth I - Bess of Hardwick.

A lot of these lands belonged to the Hardwick Estate, a lot of them still do. There are seven settlements in this parish, and a whole lot of National Trust land, some of which is rightly a conservation area. Funnily enough though, its sparse population of less than 1,100 people mostly live in the two settlements that have nothing to do with Hardwick Hall.

They are Bramley Vale and Doe Lea, both of which are mining areas which are something of an anomaly really compared to the rest of the parish. You see, generally this area gives you tiny farmsteads like Astwith and Hardstoft and Rowthorne - which are a million miles away from anything to do with mining.

Then of course, there's Hardwick Hall itself, built with as many windows as Bess of Hardwick deemed possible so she could admire her kingdom, which included two massive lakes and the River Doe Lea. An impressive structure for all to see, Hardwick Hall is famed for many things including a collection of embroideries and even a scene or two in Harry Potter!

Oh and is the main village really the smallest village in England? It would claim to be. This is AULT HUCKNALL.

****

My name is Andy. I am armed with a car, a GoPro and an unhealthy amount of time on my hands.

Join me as I try to visit every single parish in the district of Bolsover. There are 16. Here's the TENTH one – Ault Hucknall.

Disused Railway Explore - Rother Valley & Beighton Junction Sheffield - GCR, LD &ECR

Join me on another disused railway explore as we look at some old abandoned sites around the Rother Valley and Beighton Junction near Sheffield. All sights in the videos are shown on a map, so you can go and see them for yourselves.

00:00 Intro
02:58 Beighton Castle and old North Stavely Curve/Coking Plant/Midland Junction (River Rother)
06:03 Disused Great Central Line remains
08:55 Great Central Railway old girder bridge over Midland Railway
09:58 Killamarsh Junction and Demolished Signal Box Remains
12:11 Norwood Colliery Line Old Brick Viaduct remains
15:34 River Rother Three Disused/Missing Bridges
17:22 Junction/Crossover of Great Central and LD&ECR lines
20:00 LD&ECR bridge over Norwood Branch
23:24 LD&ECR abandoned Jackdaw Viaduct & Girder Bridge (LD&ECR crosses Waleswood Branch)
25:12 Killamarsh Central Old Signal brackets and remains

We are looking spefically at a small section of land in the Rother Valley - which lies between Sheffield, Rotherham and Chesterfield on the borders of South Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

Historically, this area was a busy hub of collieries, plants and railway yards. All served by a vast network of lines.

We look at the two main lines that ran through the valley
- Midland Railway (the old road is still in use today and carries freight to avoid Sheffield and the odd passenger train)
- Great Central Railway - now disused and repurposed into a thriving trail (Transpennine Trail)

Threading between the two main lines were a network of branch lines. The main one being the Lancashire, Derbyshire & East Coast Railway (LD&ECR). It is this line which leaves behind some of the most interesting features.

We start by looking at a old photo from the 1950s of a once impressive junction (Midland Line & North Staveley Curve) and comparing it to today - a shadow of it's former self.

We take a walk down the old track beds and take a closer look at some of the old bridges & viaducts (some in not so great shape), some missing completely.

In the undergrowth, if you are prepared to explore further, you will find countless examples of old signal gantries, sleepers, telegraph poles and even a demolished signal box - wreckage left to be reclaimed by nature.

All maps used are taken from Rail Map Online -

- Old iron bridge near Rother Valley Country Park
- Killarmarsh Central station - now abandoned and disused.

9F 92134 on a Great Central Railway long freight. Turn it up!

Some videos are made for sound! Turn up your speakers and soak up the scene as British Railways 9F Class No 92134, visiting from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway powers through Leicestershire at the head of a lengthy fully fitted freight. It's not just the bark from the engine working hard at the head of the train, but the rattle and clang of the wagons. Both were once familiar sounds almost anywhere in the country, now they can usually only be heard on heritage lines like the Great Central

Filmed for GCRofficial YouTube by Andy Bennett in gorgeous October sunshine, these scenes were staged as part of an official photography charter, allowing access to parts of the line that are normally out of bounds.

The freight train is a tremendous testament to the skills of the team at Quorn Wagon and Wagon.

Unveiling the Charm of Bridlington, UK | 4K Walking Tour

Bridlington is a seaside town and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is on the Holderness part (Flamborough Head to the Humber estuary) of the Yorkshire Coast by the North Sea. The town is about 28 miles (45 km) north of Hull and 34 miles (55 km) east of York. The stream called Gypsey Race flows through the town and enters the North Sea at the harbour.

Bridlington is the ideal choice for a weekend getaway, for family beach holiday freedom, or a day trip to explore the 'real' British outdoors.

As a sea-fishing port, the town is known for shellfish, and is the largest lobster port in Europe, with over 300 tonnes of the crustaceans landed there each year. It has been termed the Lobster Capital of Europe. Alongside manufacturing, retail and service firms, its main trade is summer tourism.

Haworth 1940's Weekend at Haworth near Bradford [The best 40's weekend in the UK!]

The village of Haworth near Bradford in West Yorkshire (Bronte Country!) hosts an amazing annual 1940's weekend.
Also watch our tour of Whitby ????

This 1940's weekend is unmissable with so much to do and with airplane flyovers, army vehicles and uniforms, 40's dress, and of course all set in this stunning little village!

The 1040's weekend in Haworth is a two day spectacular and is the biggest and best 40's event in the UK, with thousands of visitors enjoying a day out walking from Central Park to Main Street and up to the Bronte Parsonage and museum and then around all the attractions, shops, cafes and pubs in the village.

So many people were dressed up in their 40's outfits and clothing and the village came to life with vintage cars, army vehicles, a parade and procession, singers and live music (there was a George Formby tribute singer outside Fourteas tea shop).

This was a funpacked weekend full of nostalgia and there were people dressed in army uniform, Winston Churchill was wandering around, and everyone was having such a great time going back in time to the 40's!

The flyover from the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster Bomber was spectacular too.

Bunting lined the streets, Union Jack flags flew everywhere, the ladies in their petticoats and hats and the men dressed sharp in their suits - fantastic stuff!

Along the way we had tea and scones in Forteas (a lovely little 1940's styled tearoom), and of course had to have a pie at the famous Hunters Of Haworth pie cafe - delicious! The Fleece Inn has a great display of flags and delicious beers, and we stuck our nose into the Oh La La Vintage Shop to see what's on offer.

Further up Main Street past The Kings Arms pub we bought some lovely vintage sweets from Mrs Beighton's Sweet Shop - what a fab day we had!

Haworth is a village in City of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, in the Pennines, 3 miles south-west of Keighley, 10 miles west of Bradford and 10 miles east of Colne in Lancashire. The surrounding areas include Oakworth and Oxenhope. Nearby villages include Cross Roads, Stanbury and Lumbfoot.

Haworth is a tourist destination known for its association with the Bronte sisters and the preserved heritage Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Often coined Bronte country, Haworth is one of Yorkshire's most famous villages and attracts visitors from all over the world all year round. Famous for being home of the beloved Bronte family and the backdrop for many of their novels, literary fans flock here in their thousands!

This really was the best. Haworth 1940's Weekend - put it in your diary for next year and don't miss it because this is one heck of an event!

A Walk Through Industrial South Wales - Where to WALK IN WALES (Cefn Cribwr To Parc Slip)

A walk back in time from the old ironworks at Bedford Park, Cefn Cribwr to Parc Slip Nature Reserve.
On the way, we discover some of the history of industrial South Wales and its link with iron, coal and trains.

This walk in Wales has a personal connection for me as my grandfather worked on the railways in this area.

The start is at Bedford Park, Cefn Cribwr, South Wales which was an ironworks dating back to the 1770s. Then it’s down the tracks to the old Cefn Junction Signal Box, past the remains of Cefn Clip Colliery and then on to Parc Slip Nature Reserve.

The nature reserve had been a coalfield for hundreds of years up until the closure of the open cast mine in the 1980s.

Parc Slip was also the location of a major mine disaster which took place in August 1892 when a faulty Davy lamp caused an explosion which killed 112 men.

As you walk through the beautiful South Wales countryside and nature reserves its hard to imagine what the Victorian industrial landscape was like with all the smoke, dust and noise.

Shirebrook Valley Walk / Explore - Lost Industry in Sheffield

We walk and explore around the Shirebrook Valley Nature Reserve in South East Sheffield. Home to lots of lost industry in sheffield.

The nature reserve includes remains of old sickle and sythe forges and mills, two disused dams (Rainbow Dam & Carr Forge Dam), an old sewerage works (Coisley Hill), a former colliery (Birley East Colliery) and a reclaimed landfill site.

The site sits next to the A57 between the villages of Beighton, Woodhouse and Hackenthorpe in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

A very common place for walkers, runners and cyclists, the Trans-Pennine Trail cuts right through the heart of the nature reserve.

If you explore away from the main paths, you can find evidence of the lost industry that has allowed nature to reclaim.

The nature reserve also includes a visitor centre and picnic area.
