Orléans is a city on the banks of the Loire River in north-central France, and it’s the capital of the Centre-Val de Loire region. Joan of Arc famously saved the city from English siege in 1429, an event celebrated with an annual festival. A re-creation of the house where she stayed during the battle, the Maison de Janne d’Arc, features multimedia exhibits on her life.
Orleans is a city in north-central France, about 111 kilometres (69 mi) southwest of Paris. Orleans is the capital of the Loiret department and of the Centre-Val de Loire region. Orléans is located on the Loire River where the river curves south towards the Massif Central. New Orleans (French: La Nouvelle-Orléans), in Louisiana, United States, is named after the city.
TAO manages buses and tram lines in Orléans. Orléans is an autoroute intersection : the A10 (linking Paris to Bordeaux) links to the commune outskirts, and A71 (whose bridge over the Loire is outside the commune limits) begins here, heading for the Mediterranean via Clermont-Ferrand (where it becomes the A75). Orléans is served by two main railway stations: the central Gare d'Orléans and the Gare des Aubrais-Orléans, in the northern suburbs. Most long-distance trains call only at the Les Aubrais-Orléans station, which offers connections to Paris, Lille, Tours, Brive-la-Gaillarde, Nevers, and several regional destinations.

The Groslot hotel is a mansion of the xvi th century located in Orleans , in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Loire Valley. The monument, also known as Grand-Maison of Step, House of the Governor, or the Intendance was successively a mansion then the City Hall of Orleans and today hosts the celebration of weddings. Built under the impetus of the Groslot family, it hosts the French kings Francis II and Charles IX and the regent Catherine de Medici. It is classified as a historical monument since 1862
The hotel is located near the Sainte-Croix cathedral , on Place de l'Etape, in the city center of Orléans. It is located near the line B of the Orleans tramway. The Groslot hotel is built in the Renaissance under the direction of French architect Jacques I st Androuet Hoop . Germain Rebours and Anne Brachet own a land plot on the site of the Step the middle of the xv th century . They plan to build a mansion but yield before the completion of this project to Jacques Groslot , bailiff of Orleans, theMay 18, 1545.
The Architect of Historical Monuments André Delton exhibits in April 1846 the drawings presenting the restoration project of the Hotel Groslot. The plans and specifications are delivered to the municipality in 1848 but the French Revolution of 1848 delays the project. The steps and the central facade are restored between 1850 and 1852 ; the rest of the work is done between 1852 and 1855 . The new Town Hall is inaugurated on May 8 , 1855

Le chemin de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle par la voie de Tours depuis Paris.
9ème étape de Beaugency à Suèvres le 08 août 2017 départ 11h00 pour une arrivée aux alentours de 17h15 – 23 Km, 06h00 de marche.
Département du Loir-et-Cher en Région Centre-Val de Loire.
Ça y’est nous somme au cœur des vastes contrées, des petits bourgs, de Lieux-dits, des chemins de traverses. Rajoutez y la Loire et vous obtenez « Le » Tableau de Claude Monet, son fameux « Déjeuner sur l’herbe », œuvre phare de l'impressionnisme.
Mais au delà de tout ça, j’avais l’impression d’être en plein désert. Personne à la ronde, des lignes droites à n’en plus finir, une centrale nucléaire dénaturant le paysage sur plus de la moitié du parcours, des commerces fermés, des villages fantômes, enfin bref y’a pas âme qui vive.
J’étais loin de m’imaginer ce que serait le chemin de Compostelle sur la partie française et en plein mois d’août. Avec mes horaires, il fallait bien me rendre compte que je n’étais plus en région parisienne, mais bien dans ce qu’on appelle la France profonde. Toujours avec ses codes, ses coutumes, sa culture, son rythme… Tout me ramenait à mon enfance, souvenirs d’une époque bienheureuse qui me fascine encore aujourd’hui…

C'est triste ce château va fermer son propriétaire va le vendre: pas rentable!! Résidence de Jean d'Orléans comte de DUNOIS compagnon d'armes de Jeanne d'Arc qui délivra la ville le 16 juin 1429.
Il y vécut 17 ans avant partir à Chateaudun....
