1-Rent a car from Paris and drive. Bayeux is about 3 hours from Paris and St Mere l'Eglise (Utah Beach) is about 4 hours.
2-Take a train from Gare St Lazare to Bayeux. This medieval town has lots of boutique hotels, cobblestone streets, and restaurants to enjoy. From there, you'll have many options for guided tours to the D-Day beaches.
3-Book a one-day tour from Paris. It usually leaves at 7am and returns in the evening. This is the marathon option if you only have limited time to see the D-Day Beaches
4-Book a private tour guide & driver from Paris to take you there & back
???? Where to Stay in Normandy to visit the D-Day beaches?
Bayeux is probably the best option with many boutique hotels to choose from. And it's centrally located with quick access to all the main D-Day locations.

June & September is probably the best for fewer crowds and better weather. July & August will be crowded with Europeans on summer vacations.

By Car: 3-hours to Bayeux which is centrally located and 4-hours to St Mere l'Eglise and Utah Beach

We recommend at least 2-days to see all the sites. The best is 3-days to see it all properly. The D-Day beaches are about 70km from one end to the other with small country roads connecting them all.

10. Giverny
Giverny is a small French village 80 km to the west of the capital city Paris, within the valley of the river Seine and the northern region of Upper Normandy. The village is best known as the rural retreat of the Impressionist painter Claude Monet (1840-1926). Most attractions are closed for winter (November-March).
9. Pays d'Auge
The Pays d'Auge is an area in Normandy, straddling the départements of Calvados and Orne. The chief town is Lisieux. The landscape of this area is considered typical of Normandy—agricultural and producing dairy produce and apples. It is noted for its cheeses, especially Camembert, a place in Pays d'Auge, Livarot and Pont-l'Évêque, also names of villages.
8. D-Day Beaches
The D-Day beaches are the historic site of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of western Europe during World War II. An excellent time to visit is on the June 6th anniversary when there are numerous memorial ceremonies to mark the occasion. A large number of reenactment groups attend, adding pageantry and atmosphere.
7. Deauville and La Cote Fleurie
Deauville is a fashionable seaside resort in the Calvados département of the region of Lower Normandy. With its race course, harbour, international film festival, marinas, conference centre, villas, Grand Casino and sumptuous hotels, Deauville is regarded as the queen of the Norman beaches and one of the most prestigious seaside resorts in all of France.
6. Caen
Caen is the capital of Lower Normandy and of Calvados département in northern France and has a population of 115,000. Caen is a college city and thus very active. In summer, tourists gather in Normandy for Second World War remains and the Memorial for Peace. Caen is a modern city, four-fifths of which was demoiolished in 1944 and rebuilt in the 1950s and 1960s.

Rouen is the capital of the French region of Upper Normandy and situated on the River Seine, approximately 90 minutes drive northwest from the centre of Paris. It is where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake, but the main reason for visiting is its incredible cathedral that inspired Monet to paint over 30 canvases. Rouen was the home of the author, Gustave Flaubert.
4. Abbaye de Jumieges
Jumièges Abbey was a Benedictine monastery, situated in the commune of Jumièges in the Seine-Maritime département in Normandy. In 654 the abbey was founded on a gift of forested land belonging to the royal fisc presented by Clovis II and his queen, Balthild, to the Frankish nobleman Filibertus, who had been the companion of Saints Ouen and Wandrille at the Merovingian court of Dagobert I.
3. Honfleur
Honfleur is a town surrounding a beautiful little 17th-century harbor in Calvados, Lower Normandy. The town has preserved many historic and traditional buildings and houses some interesting museums, churches and monuments. It is especially known for its old, beautiful picturesque port, characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet and Claude Monet.
2. Bayeux Tapestry
Bayeux is a small town in northern France within the region of Lower Normandy. Bayeux is best known for the remarkable Bayeux Tapestry that chronicles in visual form the conquest of England by William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy, in 1066. Scenes include the Channel crossing, the Battle of Hastings (14 October 1066), the death of the Saxon English king Harold and the subsequent coronation of Duke William as King of England.
1. Mont-St-Michel
Mont Saint-Michel is a small UNESCO World Heritage site located on an island just off the coast of the region of Lower Normandy in northern France. The island is best known as the site of the spectacular and well-preserved Norman Benedictine Abbey of St Michel at the peak of the rocky island, surrounded by the winding streets and convoluted architecture of the medieval town.

Bayeux is a town on the Aure river in the Normandy region of northwestern France, 10 kilometers from the Channel coast. Its medieval center contains cobbled streets, half-timbered houses and the towering, Norman-Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame. The famed 68-meter Tapisserie de Bayeux, an 11th-century tapestry depicting the 1066 Norman invasion of England, is on display in an 18th-century seminary.
Bayeux is located 7 kilometres (4 miles) from the coast of the English Channel and 30 km (19 mi) north-west of Caen. The city, with elevations varying from 32 to 67 metres (105 to 220 feet) above sea level – with an average of 46 metres (151 feet) – is bisected by the River Aure. Bayeux is located at the crossroads of RN 13 and the train route Paris-Caen-Cherbourg. The city is the capital of the Bessin, which extends north-west of Calvados.
The town of Bayeux is a popular destination in Normandy, near the coast and north-west of Caen and is also listed as one of less than 100 important protected Historic Towns in France. There are several reasons that people visit Bayeux including the famous tapestry; the town and cathedral; and the proximity of the Normandy Landing beaches.
France This Way comment: of course, Bayeux is best known for the tapestry, but even if you don't plan to see the tapestry the rest of the town, especially the old town around the cathedral and along the river is well worth exploring. The Bayeux tapestry is without doubt the most famous tapestry in the world, and an unmissable site when you are in this part of Normandy. The tapestry relates the story of the conquest of England and King Harold by the Norman, William the Conqueror, in the Battle of Hastings, including the preparations for the battle and the battle itself.
Although the origins of the tapestry are slightly unclear, it appears probable it was either commissioned by the half-brother of William the Conqueror or his wife. The tapestry was also probably completed around 1077, and it seems likely it was made in England, although even that is not certain. Despite its probable English origins the tapestry is, of course, a French National Treasure. An extraordinary feat, the tapestry is about 80 metres long and 50 centimetres high and is a fascinating document that provides a great deal of valuable information about life at that time. The tapestry can be seen, not surprisingly, in the town of Bayeux in the Centre Guillaume le Conquerant, itself a 17th century seminary building.
Bayeux itself is an attractive town with a reasonably well-preserved medieval centre, centred around a renowned cathedral. The Cathedrale Notre Dame dates in part from 1077, although most of what we see today is in gothic style and was built in the 13th to 15th centuries. The tapestry was originally displayed here in the cathedral before being moved to its current location in the Centre Guillaume le Conquerant. Note that the stained glass windows in the cathedral, like the tapestry, tell the story of William the Conqueror.
The medieval streets around the cathedral also have lots of medieval houses, some half-timbered, and many other historic houses of interest. These grand townhouses were built over a long period, from the 14th century to the 18th century, so include a wide range of different styles. The Grand hôtel d'Argouges at 4 Rue Saint-Malo is among the most interesting: built in the 15th century it incorporates numerous carved statues in the upper parts of the facade. The house on the corner of 1, rue des Cuisiniers, is another very impressive half-timbered medieval house.
Across the road from here is the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy (Musée Mémorial de la Bataille de Normandie). This museum recounts the action seen in Normandy from the 7 June to the 29 August 1944. The Museum Baron Gérard in Bayeux is also interesting, with collections that tell the history of the town, including the important lace and porcelain industries, as well as exhibiting a good number of works of art. Nearby, Bayeux also houses the largest British war cemetery in Normandy.

Bayeux is a major tourist attraction, best known to British and French visitors for the Bayeux tapestry, made to commemorate events in the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. According to the legend, the tapestry was made by Reine Mathilde, wife of William the Conqueror. In fact, it may have been designed and woven in England. It is displayed in a museum in the town centre. The large Norman-Romanesque and Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Bayeux, consecrated in 1077, was arguably the original home of the tapestry where William's half-brother Odo of Bayeux (represented on the tapestry with a wooden club at the Battle of Hastings), would have had it displayed.
