Бара́новичи (белор. Баранавічы) — город областного подчинения в Белоруссии, административный центр Барановичского района Брестской области.
Расположен на Барановичской равнине в междуречье Щары и её притока Мышанки. Барановичи находятся практически на прямой, соединяющей областной центр Брест (206 км) и Минск (149 км). Ближайшие города: Ляховичи (17 км), Слоним (42 км), Новогрудок (52 км), Лида (98 км), Волковыск (113 км). Барановичи лежат на равнинной местности, где перепад высот не превышает 20 м (от 180 до 200 м над уровнем моря). Высота города над уровнем моря составляет 193 м. Протяжённость города — 7 км как с запада на восток, так и с севера на юг; вместе с тем город несколько вытянут (на 8,5 км) в направлении с юго-запада (от ул. Брестской) на северо-восток (до ул. Фабричной) и сжат (6,3 км) в направлении с севера (ул. Советская) на юго-восток (ул. Фроленкова). Площадь, занимаемая городом, равна 80,66 км² (8066 га, (12 августа 2012 года). Плотность населения составляет более 2000 человек на кв. км.
Самая северная точка города — улица Королика, расположенная севернее завода автоматических линий — 53°10' с. ш., южная — д. Узноги, 53°06' с. ш. Крайняя западная точка располагается в районе улицы Бадака — 25°57' в. д. , восточная — в районе пересечения улиц Егорова и Каштановой — 26°04' в. д. Геометрический центр города — площадь Ленина. Всего в городе около пятисот улиц и переулков общей длиной 252,8 км, из них благоустроенных — 129,8 км, освещённых — 240 км.
Барановичи характеризуются очень выгодным географическим положением и являются крупным узлом важнейших железных и шоссейных дорог. Здесь близкое расположение магистрального газопровода, развитая система энерго- и водоснабжения, благоприятный климат. В городе расположен ряд крупных промышленных предприятий.
По данным на середину 2007 года, на 1000 жителей города приходится 265 единиц транспортных средств. Всего в городе их зарегистрировано 56 641 транспортных единиц.
Город Барановичи не только один из крупнейших городов Белоруссии по численности населения (восьмое место в республике), но и один из важнейших промышленных, культурных и образовательных центров Белоруссии.
У Барановичей на начало 2010 года имеется 21 город-побратим, среди которых российские Мытищи (Подмосковье), Василеостровский район Санкт-Петербурга, финский Хейнола, австрийский Штоккерау, польские Бяла-Подляска, Гдыня, повет Суленцин, китайский Пуци, итальянская Феррара, латвийская Елгава, украинские Полтава, Нововолынск и другие.
Baranovichi is a large industrial, educational and cultural center in Western Belarus and an administrative center of the Baranovichi district, Brest region. It is located on the plain between the rivers Shchara and Myshanka. The city practically lies on the straight line connecting the regional center Brest (193 km) and the capital of Belarus, Minsk (139 km).The city is 193m above sea level. Baranovichi is characterized by a very favourable geographical position and it is a hub of major railways and highways. Other advantages would be the proximity of the main gas pipeline, a developed system of electricity and water and a favourable climate.
Baranovichi is one of the largest cities in Belarus in terms of population (8th place in the country).
Baranovichi is a relatively young city compared to other Belarusian settlements. Railroad played a crucial role in the creation and development of Baranovichi. In 1871 about a mile west of the modern area there was a track railway connecting Moscow to Brest. A village called Rozvadov – in honour of the owners of the estate Rozwadowski, was gradually growing around the railway station. However, local residents have not forgotten the old name of Baranovichi, which was used on a par with the new. In subsequent years the Baranovichi village grew rapidly and in May 1884 it received the status of town and the name of Rozvadovo.
Stretching from north to south, the railroad connected the Baltic States with Ukraine, turning Baranovichi into an important railway junction. The population also increased rapidly, in 1897 the population consisted of just 5135 people and on the eve of World War I there was more than 30 000 people residing in this town. On January 5th 1919, the Red Army liberated Baranovichi and on February 6th of the same year, the settlement got the status of city. After the reunification of Western Belarus with the BSSR on December 4th 1939, Baranovichi received the status of the regional center of the Soviet Belarus.

Поселение на реке Молодчанке, что впадает в полноводную Ушу, впервые упоминается в 1388 году в присяжном листе князя Дмитрия Ольгердовича великому князю Великого княжества Литовского Ягайле. С этого времени и берет начало история Молодечно, богатая многими событиями.
Молодечно – город, где десоветизация названий прошла еще в 1990-х. Здесь давно нет улиц Ленина, Коммунистической и Социалистической, которые остались почти в каждом белорусском городе. Зато есть Великий Гостинец, Скорины, Тарашкевича, Забейды-Сумицкого.
С 1944 до 1960 был областным.
Молодечно по праву считают культурным центром Минщины.
