Recreio dos Bandeirantes vs Barra da Tijuca vs Copacabana (Part. 1)
This week we travel across a few areas and beaches because visitors want to know where to stay when they come to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It depends on your own personal preferences. Some people like calm and quiet and some like to be in busy areas. First we will visit Recreio which is at the furthest end of Barra da Tijuca. As Praias do Bairro Recreio dos Bandeirantes - Rio de Janeiro
Praia do Recreio
A maior e mais agitada praia do bairro, possui ondas mais fortes e as águas mais limpas do litoral carioca. Possui diversas escolas de surf e vôlei de praia. Tem o tamanho aproximado de 3 quilômetros. É muito frequentada por surfistas e é palco de muitos campeonatos de bodyboard e gravações de televisão. Pela limitação do gabarito dos prédios em 3 andares, o sol não é bloqueado atrás das grandes construções. Seu limite vai da praia da Barra da Tijuca até a pedra do Pontal. Já a praia do Pontal é caracterizada por águas mais calmas e prédios de gabarito mais alto localizados no próprio calçadão da praia. A praia da Macumba por sua vez é mais agitada e é comum a destruição de seus aparatos urbanos que é destruído pelas ondas fortes. No Carnaval os quiosques da orla promovem o desfile de bandas.
Praia do Pontal
É a segunda maior e mais importante praia, caracterizada por não haver separação entre o calçadão e os prédios, que possuem aqui um gabarito maior de construção. Estende-se da Pedra do Pontal até a Pedra de Itapuã.
Praia da Macumba
Praia de pouco mais de 1 quilômetro localizada entre a Pedra de Itapuã e o Canal de Sernambetiba. É cercada por rochas e de ondas fortes. Muito procurada para a prática de surf.
Bairro do Surf
Foi criado pela prefeitura o Bairro Temático do Surfe entre Prainha e Pontal com vista a incentivar competições na área e incrementar a estrutura para prática da modalidade.

The 2.8 km (1.7 miles) long Paulista Avenue was originally a residential street filled with large, ornate mansions belonging to coffee barons. Com grande importância comercial, em conjunto com o Rodoanel Mário Covas, atua como elo entre dois dos maiores polos de importação e exportação do país: o Aeroporto Internacional de Viracopos e São Paulo. A Rodovia dos Bandeirantes faz a ligação entre importantes municípios paulistas como São Paulo, Caieiras, Cajamar, Franco da Rocha Jundiaí, Itupeva, Valinhos, Campinas, Hortolândia, Sumaré, Santa Bárbara d'Oeste, Limeira e Cordeirópolis.
SOBRE O RODOANEL MARIO COVAS SP21:
Rodoanel Governador Mário Covas (SP-21), também conhecido simplesmente como Rodoanel, é um anel rodoviário de 176 quilômetros de extensão que circunda a região central da Grande São Paulo. O Rodoanel conecta todas as 10 rodovias estaduais ou federais que passam pela Grande São Paulo, criando rotas alternativas que evitam, por exemplo, que caminhões vindos do interior do estado com destino ao porto de Santos circulem pelas vias urbanas já congestionadas da região metropolitana.
A rodovia é dividida em 4 trechos, construídos em etapas separadas e operados por duas concessionárias diferentes. O primeiro trecho a ser aberto, o oeste, começou a ser construído em 1998 e foi inaugurado em 2002. O trecho sul foi aberto em 2010, e o leste em 2014. O trecho norte, ainda em construção, tem previsão de ser concluído em 2025. Há pedágios na divisa entre cada trecho e na saída para cada uma das rodovias interligadas.
Além da capital paulista, o Rodoanel cruza outras 16 cidades da região metropolitana: Santana de Parnaíba, Barueri, Carapicuíba, Osasco, Cotia, Embu das Artes, Itapecerica da Serra, São Bernardo do Campo, Santo André, Mauá, Ribeirão Pires, Suzano, Poá, Itaquaquecetuba, Arujá e Guarulhos.
O nome do Rodoanel Mario Covas é uma homenagem ao governador do estado de São Paulo falecido durante o exercício do cargo em 2001. As obras do primeiro trecho do Rodoanel tiveram início durante seu governo, em 1998, e terminaram um ano após sua morte.

We started off at the Recreio dos Bandeirantes, which is both the name of a beach and a neighborhood in the West Zons of Rio. We then went to the Praia (Beach) Vermelha, which can be found between the Sugar Loaf Hill and the Babilonia Hill. We ended our day with dinner at Fogo de Chao.
