بندر کنگ شهر بادگیرهای جنوب ایران در استان هرمزگان واقع شده. معماری این بندر زیبا مختص مناطق جنوبی ایران هست که جزو معدود بنادر و شهرهای جنوبی هست که تقریبا بافت تاریخی اون حفظ شده. بندر کنگ بندر دریانوردان و لنج سازان جنوب ایران هم هست و هنوز خیلی از ناخداهای قدیمی در این شهر زندگی میکنن که میشه نشست پای خاطراتشون از گذشته و دریانوردی اونها از خلیج فارس تا هند و آفریقا. آب انبارهای زیادی هم در بندر کنگ هست که از قدیم برای ذخیره آب ساخته شده هنوز به یادگار مونده که در مناطق جنوبی به برکه معروف هست. در این ویدیو از مسجد رو محرابه، برکه دریا دولت، برکه پنج تا، قلعه پرتغالی ها، اسکله و لنج سازی این بندر بازدید کردیم.
Bandar Kong (or Kong Port), is the city of windcatchers of the south of Iran, and it’s located in Hormozgan Province. The architecture of this beautiful port, is unique to the South Iran, and it’s one of the few ports and cities of the south that still retains most of its old structures. Bandar Kong, is the port of sailors and launch builders of South Iran. Many old captains and shipmasters still live in the city and you can talk to them and hear their old stories; sailing from the Persian Gulf to India and Africa. There are many ab anbars (cisterns) in Bandar Kong, which were built in the old days to store water, and they are standing still as a relic of the past. These ab anbars are called “Berkeh” (literally “pond”) in the south. In this video, we visited the two story mosque, Berkeh Darya Dolat, Berkeh Panjta, the Portuguese Fort, the pier and the center of launch builders.

Bandar Abbas or Bandar-e ‘Abbās (Persian: بندر عباس), is a port city and capital of Hormozgān Province on the southern coast of Iran, on the Persian Gulf.
The city occupies a strategic position on the narrow Strait of Hormuz (just across from Musandam Governorate, Oman), and it is the location of the main base of the Iranian Navy. Bandar Abbas is also the capital and largest city of Bandar Abbas County. At the 2016 census, its population was 526,648.
History:
Dutch and English period
In 1625 a combined Anglo-Dutch fleet attacked the Portuguese at Bandar Abbas and took control of the trade posts. Soon, the Dutch East India Company outcompeted its English counterpart and eventually, from 1654 onwards, was in complete control of the local spice and silk trade until 1765.
Omani period
Between 1794 and 1868, Bandar Abbas was under the control of the Sultanate of Oman and Zanzibar through a lease agreement with Persia. The details of the original lease apparently differed between the Arabic and Persian versions.
The Omanis controlled the coastal stretch of some 100 miles from Sadij to Khamir, and inland about 30 miles, as far as Shamil. They also controlled the islands of Hormuz and Qeshm. In 1823, the Persians attempted to oust the Omanis, but the sultan managed to keep his hold on Bandar through bribery and tribute of the governor of Shiraz. In 1845–46, an army under the governor general of Fars menaced Bandar to extort tribute, while another army under the governor of Kerman besieged Minab. The Omanis threatened to blockade Persia, but the British resident at Bushir convinced them to back down.
The Persians recovered the city in 1854, while the sultan was in Zanzibar. Under British pressure following the Anglo-Persian War in 1856, Persia renewed Oman's lease on favourable terms. It was clarified that the leased territory belonged to the province of Fars and that the Persian flag would fly over Bandar Abbas. The rental rate was also increased. Under British pressure the agreement was renewed in 1868, but at a higher rate of rent
and for a shorter duration. Two months after its renewal, the lease was cancelled by the Persian government, citing a clause which permitted its termination if the sultan of Oman were overthrown.
Contemporary history:
An earthquake in July 1902 damaged parts of the city, including the governor's house and the customs office, and nearby Qeshm Island.
Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi paid particular attention to Bandar Abbas as a strategic port and during his time the government invested huge amounts of capital in the infrastructure.
Bandar Abbas serves as a major shipping point, mostly for imports, and has a long history of trade with India , particularly the port of Surat. Thousands of tourists visit the city and nearby islands including Qeshm and Hormuz every year.
Bandar Abbas was a small fishing port of about 17,000 people in 1955, prior to initial plans to develop it as a major harbor. By 2001, it had grown into a major city. It has a population of 450,000 (2011 estimate).
Geography:
Bandar Abbas is situated on flat ground with an average altitude of 9 Mtrs. (30 ft) above sea level. The nearest elevated areas are Mt. Geno, 17 Kms. (11 mi) to the north, and Mt. Pooladi, 16 Kms. (9.9 mi) to the northwest of the city. The closest river to Bandar Abbas is the River Shoor, which rises on Mt. Geno and flows into the Persian Gulf, 10 Kms. (6.2 mi) east of the city. South of the city is the island of Qeshm.
Climate:
Bandar Abbas has a hot desert climate (Köppen climate classification BWh). Maximum temperature in summers can reach 49 °C (120 °F) while in winters the minimum temperature may drop to 5 °C (41 °F). The annual rainfall is around 170 millimetres (6.7 in) and the average relative humidity is 65%.
In the summer, Bandar Abbas sees some of the highest average dew points of any city in the world, averaging 27 °C (81 °F) and frequently exceeding 30 °C (86 °F). As a result, heat indices generally top 50 °C (122 °F) for most days during the summer. This immense humidity causes summer diurnal ranges to be lower than in most desert climates, and is a result of air flow from the warm waters of the Persian Gulf.

Bandar Abbas is accessible via the following highways:
From Sirjan, 300 Kms. (190 mi) to the northeast.
From Kerman, 484 Kms. (301 mi) to the northeast.
From Shiraz, 650 Kms. (400 mi) to the north.
From Zahedan, 722 Kms. (449 mi) to the east.
Rail:
Since 1993, Bandar Abbas has been the southern terminus of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways' main North–South corridor that links it to Yazd, Qom, Tehran and Qazvin to the north.

In this video I will be showing my journey from Bandar Lengeh, Iran to Dubai, UAE crossing the Persian Gulf. I took the ferry from the port that takes roughly 4-5 hrs. I paid 86.5 $ roughly 7,000 INR (one way) for this.
I booked my ferry ticket from Bandar Abbas from a travel agency with Valfajr Shipping Co.
This was also my first time traveling to another country by ship, experience was GREAT.
Documents Required (as of December 2021)
- Passport & copy
- Onward flight ticket & visa
- 150 Dirhams for covid test done on port of UAE (might not be a condition now)
- One passport size photograph

Hormozgan province is located at the south of Iran and north of Hormoz strait and its center is Bandar Abbas. The coasts of this province are connected to the Sea from the east and Persian Gulf from the west. Qeshm and Kish are of the important islands of Hormozgan. Hormozgan is the number one province in the country in terms of revenue. Persian gulf with its precious oil and gas reservoirs and other natural treasures is the most important reason for the economic development of the region. This is my last trip in Iran, and I finally entered Dubai, UAE! Bye bye Iran!
I went on the bus from Shiraz to Bandar Abbas, and entered the Hormozgan province. I spent one day in Kong - a historical town with beautiful traditional houses and wind tower.
It feels very different from central Iran because of its Arabic vibe (half of the population are Arabs).
The next day I took a very long ferry ride from Bandar Lengeh to Dubai (the ticket costs 100 USD) to meet my boyfriend who is waiting for me in Dubai!

???? Kish is a 91.5-square-kilometre (35.3 sq mi) resort island in Bandar Lengeh County, Hormozgān Province, off the southern coast of Iran in the Persian Gulf. Owing to its free trade zone status, the island is touted as a consumer's paradise, with numerous malls, shopping centres, tourist attractions, and resort hotels. It has an estimated population of almost 40,000 residents and about 1 million visitors annually.
Kish Island is one of the most-visited vacation destinations in the Middle East, after Dubai and Sharm el-Sheikh. Tourists from many countries for which Iran typically requires a visa, who wish to enter Kish Free Zone, are exempt from having to obtain a visa. For those travelers, travel permits are issued on arrival by Kish officials and are valid for 14 days.

Iran, Lashtan Castle - دژ لشتان با بیش از ۷۰ آب انبار
دژ لشتان بزرگترین دژ باستانی جنوب ایران که در استان هرمزگان و در فاصله ۵ کیلومتری بندر تاریخی کنگ واقع شده. وجه تمایز این دژ نسبت به بقیه دژ ها تعداد بالای آب انبارهایی هست که در این دژ بخاطر شرایط و کم آبی اون مناطق ساخته شده و تونستن به بهترین شکل آبهای جاری رو مدیریت کنند. قدمت دقیق دژ مشخص نیست ولی قطعا پایه گذاری این دژ مربوط به پیش از اسلام و دوره های هخامنشی تا ساسانی هست. بدون شک دژ لشتان یکی از مهم ترین بناهای تاریخی جنوب کشور هست که متاسفانه اونطور که باید مورد توجه قرار نگرفته . امیدوارم که با دیدن این ویدیو اگر سفری به جنوب و استان هرمزگان داشتید از این دژ زیبا هم بازدیدی داشته باشید.
Lashtan Castle or Lashtan Fort, is the biggest ancient fortress in the south of Iran, located in Hormozgan Province, 5 km away from the historical Bandar Kong. What makes this fortress stand out from the rest, is the big number of ab anbars (cisterns) that it has; due to the climate and lack of water in the area. By building many ab anbars, they managed the flowing waters the best way possible. We are not exactly sure how old the castle is, but it was definitely built before the Islamization of Iran, sometime around the Achaemenid and the Sassanid periods. There’s no doubt that Lashtan Castle is one of the most important historical building of the south of Iran, sadly it’s not recognized as such. I hope that after you watch this video, if you travel to the south and Hormozgan Province, you would visit this beautiful fortress as well.
