Iran | Amazing ancient Mud City of Bam

A truly wonderful destination to visit!

Kerman is one of the oldest cities in Iran. It is well-known for its strong cultural heritage and for its thriving hand-woven Persian carpet industry. Kerman city lies on a sandy plain, 1,750 metres above sea level, under barren rocky hills. Surrounded by mountains on the north and east, it has a cool climate and has frequent sandstorms in the autumn and spring.

The 220 km drive from Kerman to the ancient fortified settlement of Bam is in itself a wonder, as you drive through amazing landscapes of valleys, desert and mountains that will remain in your heart forever!

For centuries, this mud city had a strategic location on the Silk Roads connecting it to Central Asia in the east, the Persian Gulf in the south, as well as Egypt in the west and was a perfect example of a cultural crossroad

A huge 6.6 earthquake occurred in Kerman Province the 26th December 2003. Bam was heavily impacted

The effects of the earthquake and damage was exacerbated by the fact that the city chiefly consisted of mud brick buildings, many of which did not comply with earthquake regulations set in Iran in 1989, and that most of the city's people were indoors and asleep.

Since then Bam is in recovery.

Iran/Kerman (Bam: Ancient city after earthquake ) Part 32

Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
Bam, Iran
Bam is located in South-eastern corner Kerman province. Maintaining its position in the middle of the Southern trade route, this small-fortified city on the outskirts of the vast Dasht-i-L.t desert is just 350km west of the modern day Pakistan and 450km north of the Persian Gulf. Whether you are heading in either direction, Bam is an ideal place to stop for rest.
ANCIENT BAM
Located in southeastern Iran, 200 kilometers south of Kerman, the ancient city of Arg-e-Bam is made entirely of mud bricks, clay, straw and the trunks of palm trees. The city was originally founded during the Sassanian period (224-637 AD) and while some of the surviving structures date from before the 12th century, most of what remains was built during the Safavid period (1502-1722). During Safavid times, the city occupied six square kilometers, was surrounded by a rampart with 38 towers, and had between 9000 and 13,000 inhabitants. Bam prospered because of pilgrims visiting its Zoroastrian fire temple (dating to early Sassanian times) and as a commercial and trading center on the famous Silk Road. Upon the site of the Zoroastrian temple the Jame Mosque was built during the Saffarian period (866-903 AD) and adjacent to this mosque is the tomb of Mirza Naiim, a mystic and astronomer who lived three hundred years ago. Bam declined in importance following an invasion by Afghans in 1722 and another by invaders from the region of Shiraz in 1810. The city was used as a barracks for the army until 1932 and then completely abandoned. Intensive restoration work began in 1953 and continued till the earthquake.
Ancient Bam, or the Arg-i-Bam, at its peak of political, economic, and military power had some 11,000 citizens living in 400 houses within its city walls, which still stand much the way they did hundreds of years ago. Since the city's inception, judged to be between 250 BC . 224 AD, Bam has thrived as an energetic market place and a focal point for the region. It was not until a devastating. When you strolled through front gates, you came face to face with ancient Bam. Houses, schools, mosques, gymnasiums, and bathhouses stand in the same places they did centuries ago. These structures maintained their allure, and they had the rare ability to give visitors a most inspiring adrenaline rush at first sight. Mud and sand stone buildings held much of their original shape.

Top Place To Visit In Kerman

* Kerman Travel Guide *
Where The Limitless Sky Meets The Desert Lands Of Iran

Those who travel to Iran for the first time talk about the diversity of the country, both in natural and historical terms. “Iran is a vast country,” they say to their friends, “where you can see epic desertscape, lush forests, charming beaches, and tall glorious mountains.” To know if that’s true, we recommend traveling to a unique area. Kerman province shows off the beauty of the diversity of Iran. The city of historical adobe citadels offers a lot in various forms: the mysterious Shahdad Kalouts, the verdant Shazdeh Garden, the lively village of Meymand, or the majestic Bam Citadel are among the top Kerman attractions.

Travel to an amazing historical place to visit-Iran-kerman-Shazde garden

In this travel vlog ???? you will visit shahzade garden in Kerman. It is one of the national monuments of Iran that has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2011. Shazdeh Garden is like a green gem in the heart of the desert, the date of its construction goes back to the Qajar era. This garden was built by the order of Mohammad Hassan Khan in the middle of the Bam-Kerman road, which was a part of the silk road in the past, and this caused the prosperity of this city in the old days. After entering the Prince garden, you forget that this garden was built in the heat and deserts of Kerman. Towering trees, ponds full of water with roaring fountains whose streams stretch to the end of the garden.Maybe the greenness and irrigation of this garden in the middle of the desert is impossible and strange, but we must say that the Prince's Garden is supplied and irrigated by the waters of the aqueduct and the river that is supplied and irrigated by the nearby Chopar mountains. Also, due to the slope in the architecture of Iranian gardens, it causes the sound of water to reverberate to the end of the garden, and at the end, it is poured into the well and flows towards the village near the Prince's garden for prosperity. This large 705-hectare garden has covered bayan like a green carpet, which is separated from the outside space by high fences. Its water supply system is natural and free of any new materials and modern technology, and its water originates from the Mahan mountains of Tigran region
From the untold stories of Prince Mahan's garden:????

Although there are some empty tiles on the front of the garden, it is not due to destruction and the passage of time, but it is a story of the oppression and oppression of the ruler of that time. When the news of his death reached the garden architect, he smashed his tools against the wall and fled from there.
................
A quiet place for peaceful walk while you could enjoy the sound of leaves and running water. And of course, the monument has a lot to tell about the Iranian Culture and worldview.
One the most beautiful examples of Persian architecture. By surrounding garden that water of springs flow all through it, was a reminder of paradise for those who were living there centuries ago.he weather of this garden is like heaven since there are many trees and the artificial river. Also, some historical story happened in this place

Iran | Heritage Sites of Iran | World Of Heritage

Iran was once the heart of the great Persian Empire that stretched from Greece all the way to China. The country is full of rich history, bursting with colourful buildings, and imposing palaces, but is not a top tourist destination due to its political situation. However, Iran still has much to offer.

Iran is known for its historic and colourful buildings and palaces. When in Iran, one must visit the Naqsh-e Jahan Square, Sa'dabad complex, Fin garden, and Iran's many famous Mosques. There are also other places to add to your bucketlist such as the Tehran city, Golestan palace, famous Azadi towers, Ālī Qāpū, Chehel Sotoun, Arg e Bam, Sultan Amir Ahmad Bathhouse, Tabriz and Shah Cheragh.

The Heritage sites of the world are celebrated for having great cultural or historical significance, and it doesn’t hurt that they are also often majestic and awe-inspiring.

Every country has its own monuments and cultural heritage, which you can explore in our series World of Heritage. This series also features all the celebrated heritage sites on our planet as decided by the UNESCO.

The museum garden is the first Miniature park of Iran that has been designed and carried out in an area of about three hectares in Tehran in order to present models of the Iran world Heritage sites by Tehran municipality (organization of Parks and landscape of Tehran city). The main plan is derived from the Iranian garden (Persian garden) essence in combination with irregular spaces to present miniature models with regards to the geo-graphic bed and the manner of the World Heritage monuments establishment. The significant difference of this Park with the others is the close attention to the World Heritage complexes in association with their surrounding environment which has presented a special essence to it. At the first Phase of launching the Park, the miniature model of 13 World Heritage sites were built by Iranian artists.
